Amistry20 I have my sc8 in a 2wd with the hobbywing ezrun 3660 4000kv. Great motor and I have even run it up to 4s lipo. Stays real cool and then you have everything waterproof. I think that should stay in your budget
yes! i had changed my mind to that! i am definatly gonna go with the sc8 but with what motor would i get same speeds as velineon with? how fast does yours go?
you'll definitely get more speed out of the hobbywing combo. I dont own a velineon system but i do know that when people gear them up they often overheat or burn out easily, and thats on 3s. with my combo geared up on 4s, and keep in mind hobbywing does not say that the motor can take 4s, it stays very cool and i have no doubt that I could go at least 70mph maybe even 80-90mph or more with timing turned up and more gearing. Also if and when you want to go faster hobbywing makes several motors that are slightly larger and could handle some serious speeds, without totally breaking the bank. hope this helps!
Nice, i was thinking of going with a tenshock sc401 or a castle 3800kv. I have heard some bad things about hobbywing motors getting quite hot, but if you can get those speeds, i might go with a hobbywing. Did you have to modifry the chasis/ drivertain to fit the motor?
I think that little "extra" cable with a contact on is for the motor. If you have the motor from the same company you have a little temp sensor on it. It might fit in there
Since I've been soldering wires and parts onto PCBs for 18+ years, and I developed an interesting way to solder wires without using a tool to hold the part or another wire. I wrap the solder around my index/pointer finger, then hold onto the wire using my thumb and middle finger. Then I feed in the solder that's wrapped around my pointer finger. It's just faster when you have to solder loads of product for a costumer. Now, the people I work with use the method, some find it easier and some people took a week or so to get the dexterity to feed the solder in smoothly. It does take practice and tolerance to the heat that travels up the wire. I've been doing it for so long I barely feel the heat anymore from holding caps and resistors in place while soldering the legs.

Imma take a guess that this is the new rustler, I have one from 2005 when there was only the electric ones, been thinking bout getting a nitro one and was wondering if you have tried it
i thought you were not supposed to cut the connectors off the motor side if they are hard wired in, since those leads go directly to the winding of the motor and changing their length changes the kv of the motor

Great build cant wait to see it in action!
Dunno about the plug, maybe it's for a light kit or some other accessory?
Nice vid bro keep it up with the Traxxas also where do you plug in your battery in your rustler VXL because I got one
You plug it in the thing on the blue thing
Also great question I was wondering the same thing
I think that wire is for a fan
Speed mcqueen??
I have the same setup but with on road tires and the car cogs a lot even at high speeds. Sometimes, it just turns off randomly. What is wrong with it Kev?
Hello kevin I know the video is old but what are you going to do with the esc that came with the rustler
Ha haaaa…at 10:31 - reading the “destructions”!!!! Good stuff.
This is the only way I can poop properly man. If I watch anything else it's all messed up lol love u dude
Ok I just put an RPM front widening kit on my Rustler VXL to where I can run the same wheels all aroind,Which would be better 4 fronts or 4 rears? Before I installed the Rpm Kit I bought some Duratrax Six packs and the front wheels wouldn't fit my Rustler it was like there was no hex fitting in the front wheels...so it's got my spooked because the Badlands are more expensive..
So that thin wire is to plug into some motors that have temp sensors
Imma take a guess that this is the new rustler, I have one from 2005 when there was only the electric ones, been thinking bout getting a nitro one and was wondering if you have tried it
i thought you were not supposed to cut the connectors off the motor side if they are hard wired in, since those leads go directly to the winding of the motor and changing their length changes the kv of the motor
god knows but it runs alright! :)
nice work kev, hope to see a max speed abuse video soon... greets from germany
