I myself have had this crave. And noticing that I don't have a spay paint thing or 1300$ or more to buy one I'm currently trying to get a pink squier sonic ht strat for 200 and put 300 of mods into it and turn it into a tom delonge strat.
Thanks for the long demo. Love aspects of this version. My preference would be for 2 P90’s and no TD signature. It’s the untapped potential of the Starcaster that I really like, and the neck.
Don’t hate on me, but for the longest I could never get behind this guy, at all. But now, in my opinion, he’s one of the best product demonstrators/presenters on TH-cam. You can tell how much he loves his job. 🤘🏻
I was half-waiting for it to be outfitted with a Seymour Duncan Invader! I really did enjoy the sound of the Dirty Fingers pickup and the aforementioned Invader in the 2 previous iterations of it👍🏽
In Melbourne Australia still waiting for mine to arrive since April hard wait its November now fender keep pushing it backwas promised September now early November
The ones Tom plays have the blink-182 "smiley face" logo as the fret inlays.... I wonder why they just used standard dot inlays instead of the blink smiley face logo inlays on these.
This is probably one of the worst-kept secrets of this year's release 😂 I guess we also gotta thank Gibson for, not only serving as an inspiration for using the Starcaster as Tom's next baseline model, but also for not being able to deliver to his demands, causing him to move back to Fender (for context, when Tom started playing again in 2019, they attempted to custom-order a few of his ES-333 model but the backlog for Gibson was so huge at the time, they won't be able to deliver to him for at least 2 years)
And it’s actually made in Indonesia! Same factory as the Jim Adkins Tele I believe, and from what I understand, that’s a pretty well made guitar. But a lot cheaper too.
What i want to know is if the bindings are real and not painted on like the squier starcasters. No one is talking about them being real, only the color. Squiers item description also lists the "binding" and its the same factory. If im paying over $1k for any guitar I want real bindings Also, his sticker starcaster is actually pink. Its just a very light shade of shell pink. He then has a second darker shell pink closer to whats on the production model.
@@robotjeansThing is some models of the older highest end squire starcaster actually did have real binding. Newer models it seems like they're either painted on or left off completely.
@@TheDibbsEVH didn't need a tone knob. All metal and most harder rock musicians don't use tone knobs. I think other guitarists will be just fine. If you desperately need one then this guitar simply isn't for you. That's how products work, YOU buy what YOU want in the product instead of expecting one product to fit everyone.
I own both, but this no-way compares in quality and playability as the reissue Strat. My setup from the factory was damned near unplayable. And the gloss neck is meh.
@@diddyfaplord For this price with how barebones of a guitar it is with a single circuit it is overpriced though. You can get a MIM Player series for less. Feel free to look up the QC issues from Indonesian guitars.
squier? squiers dont have seymour duncan pickups, custom artwork, better finishes, better setups, longer lasting resale value, fender logo/cosntruction etc. What are you talking about. squiers play and are setup like shit
Is this a 25.5" scale or more like Gibson's shorter scale? Id take the shorter scale anything for a guitar like this, over the damn Fender scale on a Gibson classic design everyday.
You ever get the sense that PMTV just unleashes Dagan. Turn on the camera and leave. Let him mess around for 20 minutes, and yes, I will watch it. Formula works for me.
Made in Indonesia, the price is too expensive? The price should be 30% lower. Labor costs are significantly lower in Indonesia than USA, Mexico, South Korea and Japan.
I don't think they had a choice to make it anywhere except Indonesia because it's the only factory with the tooling to make Starcaster's. You're right about the price, I have a feeling Squire will be doing what Epiphone has done with their higher priced models.
I feel the same way about the JA-90. Ive wanted it for so long but can't comprehend the price being built out of country at nearly the same price and an American Performer series. Would be nice to see this and the JA-90 and the Tom Strat at more of the 799-999 price point
Maybe the reason Tom doesn't have them in his personal instruments is because he spends tens of thousands of dollars on production equipment instead of the average consumer who's playing through a sub $1k amp, whereas Tom is playing through a $5k preamp.
@@Borax15 they jave two wiring diglagrams from Seymour Duncan. One is for just a single humbucker and the other is for Tom Delonge. Even though the Delonge shows it, they do not have them. I changed my pickguard out on og due to the yrllowing, and it did not have it
Love that look and those modern tones! I'm an 80's guy myself but I love that quality man
Tom just dropped his jaw after seeing Dagan shred.
Love when Dagan does the Punk Rock. I was thinking I wanted the gold but really digging this white guitar.
The Duncan Custom really is awesome! Man...I need a pink starcaster!!

Great review! Sticking with the TD Strat though, it's worth the extra cost

Price point I’d assume
Price point and the guy who made those is a custom shop inlay artist and cant really mass produce those
Time and money
Please recommend a gig bag suitable for Fender Starcaster! (not shell case)
I ordered one online through guitar guitar, got for my shoreline gold TD starcaster 🤟
Fender linda demais!!!.
What differences with the basic starcaster?
Thanks for this review, Dagan. Too few reviewers bother with playing actual blink songs with these.
I hope we get a squier version. I'd get two or three colors instead of one . All made in Indonesia anyway

Gorgeous
awesome demo! Which amp are you using?
What amp are you using? As that makes a big difference obviously, and can make medium output pups like this sound killer
Is this guitar limited edition to a certain number?
The suistain is awsome
Pretty much Fender's answer to Epiphone's Dave Grohl 335
Good lawd. I don’t need another geeter. But I think I need another now 😂
Finally got mine yesterday. Lol
Tom Signature Guitars:
Fender Stratocaster + Gibson ES333 = Fender Starcaster
Funny thing… I was doing this with the squire star casters months before Tom even mentioned Blink publicly again
Looks great but no blink logo inlays or lefty versions plus a huge price for a Mexican made guitar compared to other series. Sad times
And it’s actually made in Indonesia! Same factory as the Jim Adkins Tele I believe, and from what I understand, that’s a pretty well made guitar. But a lot cheaper too.
same place that made Tom's custom shop bodies. Indonesia is the only place with the starcaster moulds

Played one in a shop. The surf green looked like a toy guitar for kids. This white looks nice though. Some love it, but not for me.
You reviewing the new Epiphone inspired by Gibson Custom Shop
