Honestly, professionals/college graduates Filipina would rather look for Filipinos of their age. Those Filipina looking for Foreigners are mostly those who didn't finish school and take the responsibility of bringing a good life to their family. But a career woman Filipina would rather do it their way to earn for their families.

While its true that the philippines have to improve its sanitation, americans saying it makes me cringe… why? I just moved to the US 3 months ago and got dismayed with their public restrooms! Twice at Walmart i saw toilet bowl with poops and my first visit to the hospital was also a disappointment… even the toilet was unclean considering it is a hospital..

Not by a long shot is this place westernized. They have a well entrenched culture in the Philippines and they seem very proud to continue going their own way. I saw that in process while in the Philippines and I’m glad to assimilate to it. I wouldn’t ever try to change that.

the truth is not all Filipino are into Foreigner, specially those have a career of their own. That is why most likely is rare for Filipina who are already rich to be in relationship with foreigner. Most foreigner usually have a middle class but most likely Filipina woman who are less fortunate will be more practical in getting to a relationship with foreigners! to have a better life with them and maybe lift up their life of living with rich foreigners. that's the fact! That is why if foreigners like to be respected here in the Philippines, behave and show some respect the way of life here, boastful will lead you in trouble. You can enjoy life in the Philippines as a foreigner if and only you can adapt the way of life here. But if not then, it means this place is not for you. The Philippines will always be Philippines whether you like it or not.

we call it this western hue "colonial mentality". believer it or not, it was way worse in the 1980's. but after the people power edsa revolution of 1986, the pinoy psyche began to change in my observation.
i think the seminal era of renewed patriotism would have to be in the 1990s when local music artists exploded w/ patriotic themed fervor. that really opened the eyes of the youth of that decade w/c today are now in the age of influence. nowadays, i think pinoys are just open minded to western ideas but are definitely proud of their Filipino heritage.

Texas is a hell of long flight so if he's all the way over there he'd might as well try to enjoy it cause there are a lot of depressed people in the US who would dream of having a chance to expereince the Philipines.

PH is fine being westernized. It was influenced by Spain and the US after all. It's also not as exotic in terms of culture compared to Thailand, China and India. A lot of expats chose PH over Thailand for this reason as PH feels like a home away from their home in the west. Thailand and other SEA countries have far more visitors than PH but when it comes to foreign emigrants, the difference between them are not as big.
