      I concur......plus I bought a 65 inch A80J in April for $1800 from Best Buy, then took the $200 price match from Costco when they reduced it to $1600. SO I have an awesome TV for $1600 which now sells at Best Buy for the original $2500. Saving $900 bucks for a TV I'll have for at least 5 years if not more is very gratifying plus the PQ and motion are superb....

    I bought the A80J last December. I can honestly recommend this television to anyone who loves to watch movies, shows etc. Been a Sony fan for a long, long time. Always thought they made a better product. The sound that comes out of this television is good. I was reluctant to believe the folks that said you may not need a sound bar but to my surprise the sound was pretty good. You may want to opt for a sound bar but you don’t need one unless you’re one of those sound geeks, like me. LOL. Overall a great television , you won’t be disappointed.

    Just got mine on Wednesday. Ordered an LG Nanocell through Best Buy. I ended up having to send it back twice because of software issues on both of them. After the 2nd tv started experiencing the same issues, contacted Best Buy and they helped me with the exchange and recommended getting a different brand. After watching tons of videos, decided on Sony. Was going to get there LED one, but decided to upgrade to OLED since they are supposed to be brighter. So glad I did. Love it. Picture is excellent and sound. Software is so much better and is fast than on the LG. Proved that it was not an internet issue. Would buy again. If it was in my budget I would have gone with there OLED QD.

    We bought one of these last Fri, 1/13! Geek Squad will install it tomorrow. I am questioning how the Google TV functions, as we already have Dish Network, along with Netflix and Prime Video, the latter only because my wife wanted the Prime shipping source! She did object to both the price and also the 55 inch screen size, but finally relented. What is funny is that I went to Best Buy last WED and then back on Friday, with my wife, and the good news was that it was On Sale for $300 LESS than it was on WED, so now at $1,300.

    newbie question. Setup is as follows: Ive a Sony a80K with Apple TV connected to HDMI 2 and my soundbar connected the eARC port which is one of only two ports that support Dolby. HDMI 4 port can also be set to Dolby vision. However, my PS5 is connected to HDMI 4 because it is the only port that supports VRR. My question is, are there limitations to Dolby on the Apple TV setting if the HDMI can only be set to "enhanced" and not to Dolby? I hope that makes sense. Almost confused myself haha!

    Some questions:
    - does the Remote Control work via Blue Tooth or only IR? I ask this question, because if we buy this Sony, it will be sitting right beside another Sony (900F - computer display) and I don't want the remotes affecting each other.
    If this one is BT, then no issue. But if it's IR, then that's a problem. I noticed that there's an IR sensor plug in on the rear, so that makes me wonder.
    - does the off-the-air tuner support both ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0? (3.0 is the new "NextGen" version). This is a must for us as we CUT-THE-CORD about 12 years ago and now get our TV programming via an antenna system. Gorgeous NON-COMPRESSED HD. ATSC 3.0 supports 4K and when stations starts transmitting in 4K, it would be nice to have a TV pick up those channels without having to buy a converter box.
    - Is it safe to say that the Optical output on the back will put out full 5.1 surround, whether it comes from an HDMI source or via the antenna?? Again, very important. Our current setup uses Optical out and we get excellent 5.1 surround WITHOUT lag.
    - Can all the "auto" stuff be disabled? l i.e. auto bright, auto contrast, auto color, etc? Again, this is a must as I hate when a TV is trying to decide how things should be and the picture is constantly "adjusting" to whatever the TV things needs adjusting. With all that disabled, the TV should maintain a solid, chosen balance to the picture.
    - Does this model have any sort of technology to help the OLED screen NOT burn in?
    - Over time (years) will the OLED display itself start to change color? Like, dimmer, go pinky, bluey, greeny, go darker, out of focus, etc?
    We did look at this TV today, but all the store had running was the Sony built-in demo. Sure, looks amazing, but before buying, I want to see this thing work on real-life sources, like via HDMI from the computer; HDMI from our DVR recorder; from the Tuner with off-air channels.
    Oh, that does remind me. Has Sony finally resoled the issue where the TV Guide no longer words because "GraceNotes" no longer provides the guide? (or Rovi).
    Will this TV build the EPG (electronic program guide) directly off the tuner channels that it picks up? (again, this is vital).
    Thanks in advance.

    • @Mike500
      @Mike500 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try the MotionFlow settings, Smoothness and Clearness. Smoothness will add motion interpolation which makes all movement smoother. Clearness (recommended at off or 1, not higher) adds black frame insertion for better motion clarity. Also, set picture mode "Custom" and then color temperature "Expert 1", turn off noise reduction.

    • @scottwallace1

      Turn off Motionflow. Sony’s motion stuff isn’t as obnoxious as others, but I still get a headache myself from artificial motion stuff. 240Hz refresh actually gives me a near migraine, and instantly at that. So, you’re not alone.

    I bought the a80J last year and I am very picky when it comes to workmanship of a product. I returned 3 because the TV glass is distorted and its very visible when its off and you see the reflections and everything was crooked and wobbly looking. When the TV was on it was breathtaking, but I just couldn't get over the quality of the glass, it was like looking at yourself in a cheap mirror. How is the Glass on the A80K? can anyone comment please, thanx

    • @Mike500
      @Mike500 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's completely normal that there is distortion. It's not glass, it's an antireflective layer which is rarely perfectly flat. If you want perfection in this regard, you're gonna have to go through several TVs again to find one where it's flat by coincidence. But this slight warping is a total non-issue, i mean, it's a TV, not a piece of art you hang on the wall, and the TV picture is not affected by this effect at all.
