That scene where Maleficent wakes up to realize her wings have been taken is so impactful. It mirrors what waking up to being drugged and taken advantage of, and the feeling of knowing something has been taken from you that you can never have back. I was so emotional during that scene. Those who have been through will likely have been touched by this scene. That scene and Angelina’s acting are just amazing, the movie overall is great!
an interesting thing is that before maleficent cursed aroura she gave her a gift in which she said " the princes will grow beautiful , beloved by all she meets " and literally that came into effect towards herself
Little fact about her discovering the wings are gone: Angelina Jolie said the scene was one giant metaphor for being violated. The drugging, the pain, realizing what happened, it's all right there. P.S. I'm only wording it as such to get past the censors.
Here's some interesting research I found on the actual story: Apparently the spinning wheel is a metaphor for growing up. The Curse was essentially Maleficent saying, "She will be given the chance to grow up." By burning them, the king was saying, "She will NEVER grow up!"
You are correct Nick. At this 'time' in our history, a male heir was celebrated. That's why King Henry VIII divorced & beheaded wives until he got a living, male heir. But that child did not live into adulthood either.
@niyaodom1944 Because back then, women were literally property. They didn't believe a queen could rule by herself, and the moment she married, the crown and the power would go to her husband. They also still believed a woman was responsible for the sex of the child. Ironically, Henry produced one of the strongest and most successful monarchs we've ever had. His daughter, Elizabeth 1. And she never married because she had no intention of sharing or reliquishing her power to a man. She was known as the virgin queen, and her reign was known as the 'golden' years.
he also had another son who only made it to 16 as well, henry fitzroy. he had similar symptoms as his half brother edward would later have. henry's own brother had also died at around the same age. there seemed to be something affecting the men of that family.
I've been waiting for Nick to react to Maleficent for the loooongest time and the fact that Wen is in this reaction just makes it better, loved the video 🥰
I figured they had to make the pixies be incompetent taking care of the baby so that would open a window for maleficent to get close to the baby. Its frustrating but makes sense in the narrative :)
I love the actor that play maleficent, true fact the little girl seen that you saw was her real daughter that wasn't afraid of her in costume... Another movie I loved her in was the Myst of Avalon. Keep safe all happy new year.
I always love that scene where the toddler Aurora (princess) was reluctantly carried by Maleficent. Maybe coz I'm aware that it's Angelina's real daughter, so you feel their natural bond.
You're both soooo pretty 😍 gorgeous couple! I'm really enjoying your Friends episode reactions atm. It's fun you're both reacting to this. I enjoyed it when it hit theatres.
I think it's more basic. He took her wings to receive the kingdom. Any guilt he may have felt at the time has since been justified by what he gained and he rationalized by following his father's rhetoric. He knew he did wrong and knew she had the power to take him down if she wanted. The more he feared her the more he became paranoid and tried to convince himself he was the powerful one and she's nothing.
Don't know if you've seen the live-action Cinderella 2015, but it's really good too! Although it doesn't veer very far from the basic story, the actors & settings are fantastic!
Frankly, *Diaval* was more like a father to Aurora than her birth father! Diaval kept her from starving to death as an infant, for example, where Stephen put her in that situation in the first place!
I think you're both right in a way, King Stefan definitely didn't feel guilty when he was celebrating his daughters' birth and would have been happy continuing his entire life never taking any accountability for what he did, until Maleficent showed up. But he viewed his daughter more like a possession and his pride was hurt when she bested him in front of the entire kingdom. So you're right he never really cared for Aurora. Great reaction
My take is that he was he was also 'cursed'. You can't steal the wings of a magical creature without there being serious consequences. And when Maleficient cursed his child, it basically opened the floodgates of his own damnation. Remember up until then he wasn't irredeemably evil. He hadn't attempted to kill Maleficient when he stole her wings, and he did kneel, beg and humble himself trying to save his child (no small humiliation for a king in front of a castle full of his subjects). It was only after all this did he descend completely into the depths of madness and pure hatred. No sympathy for him, but after he stole Maleficent's wings he never stood a chance.
Amazing reaction!! The moment where maleficent is surrounded and attacked, she didnt user her powers not because she lost them but because she was disoriented because of the burn and the damage, its like trying to fight after you've been punched hard in the head, you cant even think properly about whats happening.
58:27 I think I get what you both are saying. Maleficent's choices were malicious toward someone who was only very tangentally related to the offensive person, making her far from truly virtuous in that regard. But, she wasn't doing it "for the evulz," as it were. She didn't lash out for absolutely no reason. It was retaliatory, just not as lazer-focused as to be perfectly rational. To take retribution against the one who wronged her, she targeted someone he would be close to or who represented something to him. Bonus points for sharing half his DNA.
Maleficent is probably my favorite Disney character because of her ability and understanding of both her darkness of light, in a way she is more human than humans because she fully recognizes both sides and properly uses her powers .. when humans ignore their own human shadow they always lose because how can you use your power for the good if you don’t understand the darkness laying within it. Imagine holding a small bird in your hands that fell of a tree your first thought will be this bird is so small i could crush it easily if you don’t realize this shadow thought is somewhere in your head you might actually go ahead and crush it instead of help it. That’s the point of a human shadow you need to recognize your every thought has an opposite thought residing in the subconscious it’s the only way we can make the right call. She was capable of both light and darkness and once she recognized that full potential she used it the way it should be used. Brilliant reaction truly epic you guys. Happy new years. Praying this year holds peace and love for ya all. ❤
Not going to spoil it for the sweet little innocent with Nick, but Sleeping beauty pricked her finger on a spindle of a spinning wheel, and fell into an enchanted sleep. The one you're thinking of was a different princess, but she was also very beautiful, and also fell into an enchanted sleep.
Well, at least it explains the plot hole regarding the 3 faries being absolutely terrible at their job. In the original Disney film, they somehow didn't learn how to bake or sow after 16 years of apparently not using magic. Then blew it all and gave their cover way over a colour fight. Dumbest thing I've ever seen in a movie. It bothered me when I was 7. Like, how did that baby make it past 3
I’m with your girlfriend. Stefan liked Maleficent when they were children but living in the castle and making his way was more important to him in the end. He was terrified when she showed up after he cut her wings and probably regretted that he had underestimated her and didn‘t kill her. He for sure was aware of how much he had betrayed and hurt her but I don’t think that he felt guilty for it. Later he just went crazy out of fear. I mean he locked himself up for 16 years because he was afraid of her. No wonder he started hating her. In the original movie she curses Aurora to die and one of the small faires softens the curse to be „only“ a 100 year long little nap. 😉
Actually, the fairies became complete Dingbats in this film since in the OG, Maleficent didn't soften the curse one bit. She fully intended Aurora to outright *die* from the curse. It was actually the third fairy who allowed for Aurora to potentially survive. In this version, the "three good fairies" need to thank God that CPS didn't exist. "Clap these three in irons, boys. Gross neglect and child endangerment, resulting in the death of their charge, within a week of her being entrusted into their care!"
I think people should really look at these retellings of older movies as just alternative stories in the same setting instead of connecting them too much together or having to pick one as the "real story". I grew up with the animated Sleeping Beauty and still really like it but I also enjoyed Maleficent as a separate story cause that's what it is. I don't have to compare them to each other or choose one scenario over the other. I like this movie but it is a completely different story than the original and that's okay, I like them both for different reasons. This one is mainly great bc of Angelina Jolie doing such amazing job portraying this character and the beginning is the strongest point of the movie to me.
Maleficent was captured in her own curse.. the curse was that anyone who came into contact with her would love her… Maleficent couldn’t help but love her and it was her own fault..
If a woman had butterflies flying around her head, I would be suspicious if she had magic. I adore this movie. It's literally one of my favorite movies.
In the orignal fairtale the princes dosn't fall a sleep but freezes on the spot and everyone in the castle as well even animals. There is even a cook who was about slaping a kitchen boy who froze in midmovement.
I quite like this movie, and love seeing the two of you react to stuff together! Side note, I also loved seeing that Quynh is a "picker" (idk how else to word it) during the breakdown, when she went to grab an eyelash from your cheek and stray hair from your eyebrow or whatever she was actually trying get off your face.... Maybe I'm just a weirdo, but I found it endearing, and thought it was a super cute interaction to witness 😂 ❤
I believed the king wasn't remorseful for what he did. He's just a coward. He might feel regrets, in that he would have done things differently so that his life was better for his own convenience. However, never because he is remorseful for the bad things he has done. I don't think cowards like that don't know how to love. Not that it's impossible, but i think they choose whatever is best for them, even or family. A great depiction of that is Rumpelstiltskin in Once Upon a Time (a show). I've known family members like that.
I have to say, I've enjoyed all the reimagining of classic disney villians so far and I wish they kept it up over doing stuff like the lion king stuff :( Definitely lots to think about with this, the king definitely fell to madness overall but the actual causes and reasons are fairly up in the air. Definitely recommend some of the classic disney too.
I agree with Nick about the coolness factor of Maleficent herself changing her form vs the crow guy changing. Besides that, I think this is the best version.
The guilt drove him insane, but he didn’t see or feel it as guilt, he flipped it and blamed Maleficent for his troubles, but because he refused to see it was his guilt, it turned him manic and paranoid, regretting both doing it and not fully killing her
He lost his father (Maleficent was responsible for his dad’s death as far as he’s concerned imo.). He also wanted his dad’s approval. I would look at his relationship with his dad to get to the root of the young King’s motivations.
Interesting discussion. I think King Stefan would be worried and afraid of Maleficient taking her vengeance through his entire reign if the story did not evolve as it did. He would have understood that he had provoked her with such a cruel act. And an interesting part is also that Stefan could do such a bad thing becouse he was alone in a human world that must have been tough becouse Maleficient was also alone in her world but without him she would have become a happy "person", she did not have that dark side of ambition in a hierarchal kingdom.
I didn’t like this movie when I was younger I think I was like 5 years old when this movie came out. And I think this movie is really interesting. And did you know that the actress that plays little Aurora Is played by Angelina’s daughter in real life.😇 My dad would make so many references to the original sleeping beauty movie. Like you’ll prick your finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel. And Blah Blah Blah.
I think you both are right in your own way. As far as guilt goes I think if the king felt it he would have done something to make things right. Shame may have played a part in his actions because when people are ashamed it usually leads to feelings of not caring
Nick PLEASE react to _Jack the Giant Slayer_ (2013) and/or _Tale of Tales_ (2015) - two under-appreciated fairy-tale-like gems. Please brother - I've been with you since your THOR days and I _know_ you'll like both of these. Hardly anyone has reacted to either of these and I really enjoyed them both - but they're not for kids lol so get ready for your Lady to look away here and there haha
Ohhh! I love this movie. Looking forward to watching your reaction. If you liked it (I'll know the answer to that soon, lol) you should definitely check out the second one. Personally, I like the second one even more.

i love my classic cartoon disney movies. if you’re gonna react to some cartoon disney movies, please react to Sword in the Stone, the lady on there creeped me out growing up as a kid, and still does today at the age of 32. i’m not really into remakes of movies or live ones, but i actually love this movie. they used her tea daughter in this as a kid, cause the other kids were scared of her dressed up like that. i’m with maleficent tho cause how they treated her. react to the second one, made me feel up. no don’t react to the love action aladdin, no offense to will smith, but the cartoon one with robin williams will always be the best one of course. the one fairy she plays in barry potter as the one everyone hates who’s the teacher that likes pink.
I think Stefan was evil from the beginning. He was just a poor orphan who dreamed of becoming king, and he fulfilled his dream. Knowing how things work in royal courts he surely did terrible things to get to the throne. Even evil people can feel love for another person, in their own twisted way, and I think Maleficient was more in love with him than he was with her. This story teaches us that (usually) motherly love is the only true love
I have seen this movie at least twice and I just notice that one of the pixies is in couple of Harry Potter movies. Because you haven't seen these yet I don't say no more. Just this spoilers!
Truly perfect casting with Angelina Jolie
What he did is worse, since thats betayal she will know about. @@nickreacts6394
In a way she kind of cursed herself she said Aurora was going to be love by all who meet her, forgetting or not knowing it would work on her to.
It was basically sexual assault done on her. Violated, broken, deceived, crippled and traumatized
Don’t know if it’s true, but I read that originally Maleficent was going to be… taken advantage of. But they decided that was way too dark.
The toddler sleeping beauty maleficent told to go away was Angelina’s child. Other toddlers got too scared when they saw Angelina in her makeup
You can tell she's Brad Pitt's daughter she has his smile
an interesting thing is that before maleficent cursed aroura she gave her a gift in which she said " the princes will grow beautiful , beloved by all she meets " and literally that came into effect towards herself
Little fact about her discovering the wings are gone: Angelina Jolie said the scene was one giant metaphor for being violated. The drugging, the pain, realizing what happened, it's all right there.
P.S. I'm only wording it as such to get past the censors.
Here's some interesting research I found on the actual story:
Apparently the spinning wheel is a metaphor for growing up.
The Curse was essentially Maleficent saying, "She will be given the chance to grow up."
By burning them, the king was saying, "She will NEVER grow up!"
So, it's metaphor about growning up?
Yes, the pricking of the finger means puperty.
You are correct Nick. At this 'time' in our history, a male heir was celebrated. That's why King Henry VIII divorced & beheaded wives until he got a living, male heir. But that child did not live into adulthood either.
Omg that’s so unbelievably petty; why do men? ESPECIALLY men of the past ??? 😭
He also had a lot of "bastrad" children.
he also had another son who only made it to 16 as well, henry fitzroy. he had similar symptoms as his half brother edward would later have. henry's own brother had also died at around the same age. there seemed to be something affecting the men of that family.
I definitely agree with your girlfriend! He had no regrets about maleficent. He only regretted not killing her when he had the chance
20:47 yeah, it's her actual child. Like, Angelina's. That is a connection they have.
She looks so much like her father, Brad Pitt.
🖤LOVE MALEFICENT!!! This is the best re-imaged story ever!!!
I've been waiting for Nick to react to Maleficent for the loooongest time and the fact that Wen is in this reaction just makes it better, loved the video 🥰
You know the fairy that had blue on her face from the cake that is Professor Umbridge in the Harry Potter franchise.
The "King" was driven mad with fear. The ultimate price he ended up paying for his betrayal.
Thanks so much! This movie was such a creative/ interesting take on the original animated story it was a great time!
@@nickreacts6394 Yes its great when Disney doesn't do a direct animation to live action copy. 🙌
I think it's more basic. He took her wings to receive the kingdom. The film's novelization goes into the Kings' mindset and his backstory a bit more ! It's very interesting and I actually reccomend the read!!

You two had the best reaction i would love to see you both react to Maleficent Mistress of Evil (the second one) please 🙌🏽
Def my fave disney live action movie! Thanks for this guys! I adore when you two do reactions together. Also cutest couple ever❤ happy new year!🎉

Happy New Year, you two are amazing and I hope you both enjoyed the movie and had a Happy New Year, This film is one of my favourite Disney remakes.
Thank you!
I loved this movie! Easily Disney's best live adaptation. Angelina was perfect for this role. She was amazing!

Maleficent 2 please 🙏🏻
Maleficent was captured in her own curse.. the curse was that anyone who came into contact with her would love her… Maleficent couldn’t help but love her and it was her own fault..
If a woman had butterflies flying around her head, I would be suspicious if she had magic. I adore this movie. It's literally one of my favorite movies.
I was surprised how much I liked this movie when I first saw it
In the orignal fairtale the princes dosn't fall a sleep but freezes on the spot and everyone in the castle as well even animals. There is even a cook who was about slaping a kitchen boy who froze in midmovement.
I quite like this movie, and love seeing the two of you react to stuff together! You should also react to the second maleficent movie
I have to say, I've enjoyed all the reimagining of classic disney villians so far and I wish they kept it up over doing stuff like the lion king stuff :(
Definitely lots to think about with this, the king definitely fell to madness overall but the actual causes and reasons are fairly up in the air.
Definitely recommend some of the classic disney too.
Alice in wonderland, maleficent and Cinderella are Disney’s best live actions so far and top tier movies, they are just different from the rest 🔥
I agree with Nick about the coolness factor of Maleficent herself changing her form vs the crow guy changing. Besides that, I think this is the best version.
No no those three fairies were also really silly and random 😂😂
Loved watching!
Awesome reaction of my favorite Disney movie!!!!😊😊😊😊
The Aladdin one was terrible. This is IMO the best of the live action remarks, although it's not even a remake, it's a new story.
Happy New Year
If the others dont understand why does a chain cuts a wing bc the chain is Iron Iron burns fairies(tell me if am right)
The guilt drove him insane, but he didn’t see or feel it as guilt, he flipped it and blamed Maleficent for his troubles, but because he refused to see it was his guilt, it turned him manic and paranoid, regretting both doing it and not fully killing her
5:36 oh, poor innocent fella; it ends much worse😂
Angelina Jolie plays a great antagonist in “Girl, Interrupted” 1999. Highly recommend watching!!
They’re not all or even many “disney stories”. Sleeping beauty for example is a mid 1300s european folk/fairy tale.
He lost his father (Maleficent was responsible for his dad’s death as far as he’s concerned imo.). He also wanted his dad’s approval. I would look at his relationship with his dad to get to the root of the young King’s motivations.
Can't believe I missed this reaction! Can't wait for Win to see the animated Disneys!!!!
Love your guys reaction to this movie. It was such a hit. Angelina killed the role.
You both have good points.
happy new year y’all
Hiii I love your buffy videos 😁😁😁
Thank you!
I would recommend Cinderella (2015)
Okay, y'all, hear me out:
Angelina as Rosalina for a future Mario Galaxy movie.
Thoughts?
Love this movie. Thanks for your reaction. The sequel is also very good.
Now you need to watch the second one
Please watch maleficent: mistress of evil together
Please react also to the second one
I hope you guys see Cinderella 2015 next or any Disney film ❤❤❤
Great reaction, see theres a reason why we have villains, they get destroyed and forced to darkness
Love it love it. Love it!
This movie was so good on it's own but nothing beats the original 1959 Sleeping Beauty film for me. Will you guys be reacting to Sleeping Beauty 1959?
I didn’t like this movie when I was younger I think I was like 5 years old when this movie came out. And I think this movie is really interesting. And did you know that the actress that plays little Aurora Is played by Angelina’s daughter in real life.😇 My dad would make so many references to the original sleeping beauty movie. Like you’ll prick your finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel. And Blah Blah Blah.
I’ve seen this movie & the sequel iam definitely looking forward to the third movie
Please watch Cruella. It is an amazing movie. So well acted.
Yes please!
I think you both are right in your own way. As far as guilt goes I think if the king felt it he would have done something to make things right. Shame may have played a part in his actions because when people are ashamed it usually leads to feelings of not caring
are u planning to do Maleficent 2 as well?
Should watch number 2
When are you doing part 2
I love this movie,but the 2nd makes no sense.👎
Do you plan to watch the sequel as well? It expands a lot more on he story.
Aladdin and Beauty & The Beast are both great
The second maleficent movie is great too. I hope you react to it too.
I disagree. I like this movie,but the 2nd doesn't make sense.

i love my classic cartoon disney movies. if you’re gonna react to some cartoon disney movies, please react to Sword in the Stone, the lady on there creeped me out growing up as a kid, and still does today at the age of 32. i’m not really into remakes of movies or live ones, but i actually love this movie. they used her tea daughter in this as a kid, cause the other kids were scared of her dressed up like that. i’m with maleficent tho cause how they treated her. react to the second one, made me feel up. no don’t react to the love action aladdin, no offense to will smith, but the cartoon one with robin williams will always be the best one of course. the one fairy she plays in barry potter as the one everyone hates who’s the teacher that likes pink.
The sequel is also very good.
32:24 HAHA DID SHE LIE ????
I think Stefan was evil from the beginning. He was just a poor orphan who dreamed of becoming king, and he fulfilled his dream. Knowing how things work in royal courts he surely did terrible things to get to the throne. Even evil people can feel love for another person, in their own twisted way, and I think Maleficient was more in love with him than he was with her.
This story teaches us that (usually) motherly love is the only true love
37:35 he’s just taunting her at this point😢
No les entendí nada 😂 pero me justo su reacción ❤🎉
You both should watch S1 of Once Upon a Time. All of the Disney characters reimagined.
Please react to the second one 😊
Who's the lady?
React to Maleficent 2 to, its good
After that do aladin live action, its good, but not as good as original
are u planning to do maleficent 2?
Flora, Fauna and Merriweather screwed Aurora up those 16 years. Bad parenting
I have seen this movie at least twice and I just notice that one of the pixies is in couple of Harry Potter movies. Because you haven't seen these yet I don't say no more. Just this spoilers!
