there are actually two ways to interpret the scene were Barnum's wife is looking at him during "Never Enough", the first (and most popular) one is that she's looking at him and realizing he might be in love with Jenny Lynn, the second one (and my personal favorite) is that she's actually listening to the song and realizing that SHE will never be enough for him, their family will never be enough and he'll always want more.
Came here to say this. The actress did a brilliant job emoting so well while lip syncing but the actual singer is incredible and deserves all the props.
Most of the actors did their own singing…Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, Zendaya, and Keala Settle, as well as many minor characters. Rebecca Ferguson as Jenny Lind actually can sing, but once she heard Loren Allred sing it, she said she needed to do it.
I love the wife so much! She's a rare gem! I loved this movie! The music just makes you want to get up and dance! Thank you for the great reaction again! 🤩
Love this movie, we were obsessed for weeks after seeing it! I love how every song is a complete stand alone song. Other musicals have this singing dialogue that just drags on and on and on. This is so much nicer imo.
Honestly top 5 fav musicals ! When you find time you should def react to Hugh Jackman singing From Now On and Keala singing This is Me they are such powerful performances
so the scene where she sings never enough, that's not her singing, it's in fact a woman named Loren Allred, she wanted to be behind the scenes doing the vocals, the person who lip synced it did a good job at it. Loren came onto Britians got talent and performed it on there, Simon was excited cause he said it was one of his favorite songs in that movie. i'm just so happy that Loren came out behind those curtains and showed her true talent. i loved this movie, i just watched it a few mins ago lol. i felt emotional when they were singing the song this is me.
Rebecca Ferguson does not sing Never Enough. It's actually sung by Loren Alred. Rebecca can sing but did not think she could do the song justice. So she lip synced to Loren vocals. She is the only cast member who did not actually sing. Loren explained that she would rather sing behind the scenes. She explains it on Britain's Got Talent. Look it up. There is a video from the show where she surprises everyone, especially Simon, with the story behind the song.
I know, that's why I'm so torn about liking this movie. The songs, I absolutely adore, and listen to all the time. But it's sad that Hollywood has glamourised the life of such a bad man.
Was I the only one who left the movie definitely thinking that PT Barnum (the character) was a horrible person? I honestly don’t think the movie made him look like a good person.
Me too. There are only a few movies I saw twice at the theater but this one I saw even three times and almost went a fourth time. And at some point I watched it twice with in several days. The movie puts me in such a good optimistic mood.
There is a video called “how I saved The Greatest Showman”. It’s by Jeremy Jordan who was asked to fly to LA for a showcase of the movies songs for possible investors. Hugh had recently had nasal surgery and was told not yo sing. It’s as fun video with a bittersweet ending (and Jeremy is immensely talented
Rebecca may not have been the real singer of the song, but I think that's interesting that the only actor who DOESN'T sing is the one playing a singer. On purpose? Ironically, Rebecca Ferguson does do her own singing in another Hugh Jackman film called Reminiscence. And she's quite good.
Rebecca was supposed to an Lorren Allred was kind of a singing guide. But after Rebecca heard Lorre Rebecca thought she did a better job. She wasn't confident to play someone who was supposed to be the best singer. I was annoyed though that Jenny was supposed to be a great opera singer. But she wasn't singing opera
Since everything old is new again, try writing a letter to someone special. There is something very personal about receiving a handwritten letter, seeing the impression of the pen on the paper and the words are very personal. Much like reading a book, you hear that person's voice and you can read it over and over again. Our only brother just passed last month at the age of 71. We found in his footlocker in his home all the letters from our parents, his sisters when he was stationed in Vietnam and a DMZ in Korea during the early 70's. We could see how many times he took out the letters that had dad telling him to focus, keep his chin up and that he was caring for his car, Mom and her gardening successes, Thirdgirl's cheerleading and Secondgirl's made gloves in army green. I told his about the bully in my third grade class and he wrote back with instructions on how to stand up to her and to ask Firstgirl for punching tips. Reading those letters, our whole family came alive again.
There was a broadway musical in the 1980s called Barnum which was slightly more true to life, although still pretty sanitized. The broadway cast had Jim Dale (who recorded the audiobooks for all the Harry Potter books) as Barnum and Glenn Close as his wife. There is a video of the London production which starred Michael Crawford who was the original Phantom of the Opera
Weird timing, I was literally just listening to the soundtrack for this movie a couple hours ago and then you upload your reaction. What a great movie.
Fun fact i come from a long line of circus owners and performers and one of my great great great grandfathers knew P.T. Barnum personally, not sure if they were the best of friends lol but i grew up hearing family stories about it :)
All the shine of a thousand spotlights All the stars we steal from the night sky Will never be enough Never be enough Towers of gold are still too little These hands could hold the world but it'll Never be enough Never be enough
not only did Zendaya and Zac do all their own stunts for Rewrite the Stars, but that scene was the first one they shot together for the film. spectacular performance by both of them, as well as everyone else. my only gripe with the film is that they kinda glossed over the conversation about growing up in poverty vs. wealth and why PT pushed so hard for it. Charity ends that conversation by remarking that he doesn't need everyone to love him but that wasn't really his motivation. we watched PT grow up struggling to survive, losing his father at a young age and having to fend for himself, never knowing where his next meal would come from. he didn't want his daughters to have to go through that, which is totally understandable. did he lack balance when it came to providing for his family? absolutely. I just wish the film treated it with a bit more nuance instead of making it seem as if he just wanted to do it for fortune and glory like Indiana Jones. anyway, despite that I really love this movie and the songs always put me in a great mood! 😃

Never Enough is a really powerful song, but in context of the story the lyrics are really dark. It's lovely to listen to but it's a song about ambition/greed. Ambition (Barnum) about never sitting back and accepting one's position in life, greed (Jenny, the socialites, etc) saying that no matter what they get they'll never be satisfied or even thankful.
not sure if he knows this, but Rebecca Ferguson is not the one singing in this. she is lip syncing. the actual singer is called Loren Allred. she was on Britain's got Talent
Hi Nick, I enjoyed your reaction to the movie musicals that I've watched on here thus far. May I suggest that you watch the stage production of "Barnum" with Michael Crawford portraying P.T. Barnum, also there is a couple of shorter clips from when they were getting The Greatest Showman to be greenlit first is seeing Keeala Settle perform 'This is me' at the greenlit 'workshop' also coming from that is Jeremy Jordan 'The Day I saved The Greatest Showman' all the best and catch you next time
There’s BTS content that is worthy of a reaction- more for your music channel. They filmed their workshops when pitching the movie and it has Keala’s first performance in front of an audience of This is Me. It is pure serotonin to watch. Highly recommend. Hugh Jackman’s performance from this session is also great.

I always thought it's a bit of both
Zendaya actually did all of her own stunts. During “Rewrite The Stars” her & Zac really did those stunts
Yup
One of my favourite scenes
I love that whole scene!
The bartender is actually the choreographer of that scene.
Also the actress who plays the singer who sings never enough is not actually singing the song, The song is sung by Loren Allred and shes amazing 💜
Came here to say this. The actress did a brilliant job emoting so well while lip syncing but the actual singer is incredible and deserves all the props.
Me too. Not Rebecca singing.

I love the wife so much! She's a rare gem! I loved this movie! The music just makes you want to get up and dance! Thank you for the great reaction again! 🤩
Thank you so much :)
I can hardly watch it without singing along.
Love this movie, we were obsessed for weeks after seeing it! I love how every song is a complete stand alone song. Other musicals have this singing dialogue that just drags on and on and on. This is so much nicer imo.
I will mention this on every reaction video of this movie: this is freaking _Wolverine_ singing
This is one of my FAVORITE musicals!
Honestly top 5 fav musicals ! When you find time you should def react to Hugh Jackman singing From Now On and Keala singing This is Me they are such powerful performances
He's reacting to Hugh Jackman singing from now on in this?
@ no so there’s videos of them singing it for the first time to get the video green light like an audition for executives . Look it up it’s soo good .
so the scene where she sings never enough, that's not her singing, it's in fact a woman named Loren Allred, she wanted to be behind the scenes doing the vocals, the person who lip synced it did a good job at it. I still remember my fantastic emotions in theatre when I’ve seen it for the first time. It’s unbelievably amazing!
I ended up going with Falling in Love, but Tightrope was so close to being the song I walked down the aisle to. It was definitely in my playlist.
It was probably a good call not to walk down the aisle to a song about a woman questioning the loyalty and love of her husband.
So excited you did this movie and are doing more musicals! Can't wait to watch right now! ❤
Rebecca Ferguson does not sing Never Enough. It's actually sung by Loren Alred. Rebecca can sing but did not think she could do the song justice. So she lip synced to Loren vocals. You're right money isn't everything this shows that someone could be struggling but happ with what they have , and yes Wolverine can sing.
Its crazy that the real PT Barnum was not a nice person at all, and treated his friends and family horribly.
@@RB-vo4gihe was still kinda bad but redeemable in the movie, irl he was worse
@@RB-vo4gioh, once you read about the story of the real Phineas Taylor Barnum you'll realize the one in the movie was a saint.
actually the actress that sings never enough didn’t actually sing the song, it was another lady who is on americas got talent
The americas got talent show was a total rip off. Everyone already knew her, especially the judges, it was just for publicity.
@@Cerrydwennknew of her work but not her

Actually, the actor for Tom Thumb (Charles Stratton) did not sing, either. He was dubbed over as his voice was too soft/ high for the character.
Oh I’ve been so excited for your video about this film! 😄 it’s one of my favourites! Perfect timing as well, I can watch it before I go to sleep 😊

Yes Zendaya did her own stunts for that song ❤
I believe this is set in the late 1800’s so $10,000 is like $188,000 today so it could have gone quite far
I was going to say that, but was hoping someone else realised this

Would love for you to react to Mamma Mia 1 and 2 - if you haven’t watched those films/musicals yet 😊
Definitely agree with that.
He has, in the previous channel
It is a good movie but knowing that P.T. Barnum was a monster in real life keeps me from liking it..
the red-headed woman on stage is not really singing. She's lip-syncing.
Rebecca Ferguson didn't sing- that was Zendaya you heard sing " never enough".
It wasn't Zendaya. It is Loren Allred.
That wasn't Zendaya singing never enough but that was really her and Zac Efron that sang rewrite the stars if you listen carefully Zendaya and the person who sings
