I just did a carb swap on my TPI (vid coming soon). You will need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with a return line. Set the PSI to 6/7 and hook up the return are you're good. The factory Fuel Injection fuel pump runs at 30-40psi. You will burn the pump or kill the carb. Also since it's a high pressure line, run good fittings OR do what I did and that's using 3/8 Barbed NPT fittings with hose clamps tightened by the hulk to ensure they don't come off. Also a lot of people say that the anti-theft will stop the car from running and that the fuel pump will not work however neither of those are true.
My suggestion would be to replace that regulator with one that is meant to reduce the fuel pressure from a level for fuel injection to a level for a carburetor that has a return line on it. That way you should eliminate the risk of burning through fuel pumps and regulators.
Any tips I would love to do the same thing to my 84 as well I had the same issue I believe it was the computer it has been sitting in our barn for 3 years now.
We had issues with injector wiring/electronics. If we put injector #1 connector would allow either injector to fire as we tested it on both injectors. Injector #2 connector would not power either injector. Rather than sort out the wiring on a system that is typically looked down upon, we decided to carb swap it. If we were to do it again we would go with a very low intake manifold so we wouldn't have to cut a hole in the hood, if that is your style then by all means go for it! Getting a real fuel pressure regulator would also be a good idea. Not a cheap one.
hey quick question, my friend bought an 89 corvette as well and its having this problem where he turns a sharp corner and the car stumbles and shuts off. fuel pump is working, we have a pressure regulator similar to yours at a max of 6psi i believe possibly 5. And it runs ok except for whenever he takes off normally from a stop, it shifts into the next gear and then stumbles. He also got a carb completely rebuilt and a new gasket thrown on. any ideas on what it could be?
Thanks for responding did the same thing but my tach isn’t working neither is my gas gauge might need to go back to original distributor since it has a 4 plug conector and that sends info to the digital dash
We didn’t have a carb spacer, but we did have a standard rise manifold. An edelbrock performer. If we went with a low profile manifold I think it would have cleared
@@LoganGregory Nice.. What did you guys do in regards to the throttle cable and the transmission tv cable (Throttle Valve) cable? Any specific bracket?
I haven’t been able to fully drive it yet so I’m not too sure but I will be making an update video on it when I do so. But I have noticed a significant increase in throttle response
Hey man by any chance you got this done and what did you do? And could we possibly get into contact at any point? I have a 85 converted to a carb but given up on the process. And going through this rn would really need the help.

Wrong, crossfire is only 13psi
You will still need a fuel pressure regulator.@@mikeworkman3593

Keep going guys. In the process myself.
I'm doing the same to my white 84 Corvette.

Could be a number of things, I’d try your spark advance and vacuum lines
Did you get it done?
Need to do this to my 82
What intake manifold did you use?
I believe it was an edelbrock performer
Is your dash cluster working with different distributor installed
Yes, I don’t have a tachometer so it doesn’t effect the dash
Thanks for responding did the same thing but my tach isn’t working neither is my gas gauge might need to go back to original distributor since it has a 4 plug conector and that sends info to the digital dash
Did you really have hood clearance issues with a low rise intake manifold? Did you have a carb spacer?

@@LoganGregory Yes. A stock intake will clear. I've done the same thing. I installed a stock 1980's aluminum intake with a quadrajet. Run's great.
I also installed a super low profile k&N air cleaner. Probably clears by 1mm

Big difference in power?

Honestly the car is gone and if it were a daily driver we would’ve done things different. Where are you having the issue?
@@LoganGregory honestly I don’t know where he left off do you have a fb or a number to show you pictures?
I don’t have any other photos or videos other than this video because it was so long ago
@@LoganGregory what would’ve you done for it to be a daily. I want this to at least drive for the weekend hopefully daily
A good name brand fuel pressure regulator
