Yeah... definitely a lack of age range. The other thing I don't love is that I feel like none of the figures are really... doing much. Like, why not have Artemis using a bow and arrow? It feels "Greek deities pose for a calendar."
"accompanied by complaints" 😂😂 could very well be the soundtrack to my life. Just freaking love that title Apparently older women in this deck is 35 at the max and older men is from 55 and up
I saw George Clooney and Angelina Jolie 😅 and I can tell you for a fact as a 54 year old woman if you hung me upside down as the Hangman my skin wouldn't be hanging like his did. Grey hair yeah good but let's get real about the elasticity of the skin 😂 that is a very romantised portrayal of ageing just saying.
a perfect example of how society says it is okay for men to age but make women cling to their youth as much as they can. old men get called "silver foxes" and the like. older women are invisible in this society or get snide comments about how old they look. it's disgusting. also the queen of coins totally looks like angelina jolie
Too many bad choices. Hermes is divine messenger and mischief. Mars is traditionally belongs to the emperor (Mars in Aries). Hecate has three phase of the feminine. It's messed up.
'The Pouty Woman Tarot' would not have gotten the same response. I'm bored of this deck already, and I don't even own it. (I struggle with decks that focus very strongly on figures anyway; I need scenery and details to read, but to me, half the deck looked the same.)
My first impression of this deck is that everyone is too pretty and perfect looking and it’s actually boring. I want to name it The Hot Deity Portrait Tarot. 😂
The 7 of coins looks like Dita Von Teese. Then you have Angelina Jolie as the Queen of Coins, possibly Amber Herd as the High Priestess (not 100% sure on that one but it does look like her) and there is also another male card that is a real person too. I think using real people threw things off along with MANY other issues around the Mythology and sexualizing/making the women young objects. Its like all the women are Instagram models.
i bought this deck too with high hopes but i also found it really perfect? and not in a positive sense. it is truly beautiful artwork but i am finding it hard to use seriously because of a lot of the same critiques you mentioned. props to the artist though, she is obviously very talented. definitely not a working deck for me though so it will be gifted or returned.
yeah that deck is awful. You're not feeling anything from it because there's nothing to feel. It's shallow. It's a series of portraits of models who all share the same checklist of features - perfect sharp noses, huge swollen lips, doe eyes, and porcelain skin (except for one or two). The artist does nice portraits but nothing about any of them was particularly thoughtful or creative or had anything to do at all with tarot. There were no scenes with a situation taking place that you can look at and analyze and get inspired by. This deck is just another artist thinking they'll jump on the popular tarot money grab bandwagon.
I'll be honest; I love Greek mythology and had high hopes for this deck, but as others have mentioned, there's no real scenes going on, everyone looks far too perfect (especially the women), there's no age diversity, and on top of that -- some of the selections don't make sense. Persephone for the High Priestess? I'd have chosen her for Judgement. Aphrodite should've had a lover in her card. Ares should've been The Tower since that card is ruled by his planet (Mars) anyway. Poseidon strikes me as a King of Cups type. I think that the art is gorgeous, but why does everyone look the same? It's a letdown. I'm glad that I didn't purchase this deck. Also, I'm not mad about Zeus being depicted with darker skin, but you would think there would've been a few more people with deeper skin tones too, if that were the case. I'm sure there were people of African ancestry in ancient Greece from all the trade and conquests happening!
I am fine with a lot of the attributions of god/goddess to tarot card. I appreciate the idealized depiction of human form, it's part of the definition of Ancient Greek art. I can't stand the romance novel aesthetic though.
If the gods were run through TikTok and Instagram filters, they would look like this deck. I can't do cards that are portraits. I need scenes. Everything is very pretty, both book and deck, but it's just so commercial and cosmetically correct that the artwork is boring. Hera looks like a sexed-up 21 year old Instagram influencer that talks about manifesting trips to Bali and not a damned thing like how I'd imagine The Empress. Zeus does not read as a black man to me, just a man in shadow. The "older men" all look like they should be in those Most Interesting Man In The World commercials advertising beer. The "older women" look like elder millienials that get botox. I won't be ordering this deck now that I've seen it and hopefully, no one gifts me with it. The artist is clearly talented but this deck fills me with NO.
Hi, thanks for this honest review! I bought one too and I'm waiting on it. I'm quite happy that all of my "favorite" goddesses / gods are depicted but as you say, women are simply pretty in the deck but not really depicted in an interesting way, or powerful or with deeper background infos on the card, which is a pity. You could put so many information on every single female cards, also the age and the figure is an issue. The goddesses and gods don't seem to fit the cards all the time or the pictures of them, which however is also personal perception. Athena f.e. wasn't that nice at all while I see competences on men cards with the woman cards I can't see it... I mean we get it, that they were all super hot but you could have made the 10swords crying or something and not just hot face. Btw. I'm BPOC and I can value that they gave the highest person card to a Black Person, but Zeus is quite problematic (Poseidon, Cronos, Pan too..) as you said. I will use the cards wisely and be just happy that a whole deck has 'all' the gods/goddess and that the cards are pretty. Maybe I use it also as god Oracle, maybe one day I will create an oracle deck for Greek goddesses gods since I'm a huge fan. Have a nice day, great video!
This is so disappointing! All the women are Instagram models complete with the Instagram makeup and filler. I really wanted this deck, but I'm glad I watched your video first. I feel like sometimes even the color scheme is really off like for hera. She should be in jewel tones

Too many simpering young women staring at me. I can't read with it either. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
Whew I'm glad I didn't pre-order this one, had it on my list. Thank YOU for this review!
"accompanied by complaints" 😂😂 could very well be the soundtrack to my life. Just freaking love that title

If you shake the cards does the filter come off 😅 face tune tarot ❤❤ it's nice but bleugh at the same time 😩😩

Justice and Athena, yeesh! There were a few nice cards, but overall it just feels like Instagram accounts.
I don't get the choices either and what you said about the Hermit made me laugh. I can't really read cards with all close-ups.
What on earth is with the super plump and pouty lips on the goddesses?!

3:39 Calliope looks like Kylie Jenner 😂
They look like the covers of romance novels; not like gods.
Welp, you just saved me money cause I'm not buying that anymore

I for one love it. even if it is heavily criticized. I will buy it ❤

It’s not just you. Looks like the same faces over and over. 1000% not for me.

😂😂 True
Dang....😂
Isn't swords intellect and wands is spiritual?
YES. I realized I said the wrong thing after I'd recorded it and I just hoped no one wouod notice 😢

commenting before really watching but obsessed with your background. absolutely wonderful. that’s it that’s the tweet, ok now back to watching.

Massive nope from me. They all look like enhanced influencers, all perfect and not at all like Greek gods or goddess. It’s awful
