I hate when people ignore criticism (or even just differing opinions!) by saying you "just didn't get it," its such a dismissive response. I appreciate your opinions, and even if i don't agree with you I can see where you are coming from, and I think its NICE to have someone in the tarot community who IS so vocal about their opinions!
New to tarot and just came across these videos. Very funny! I’m finding it hard to connect to a lot of decks, I hate the “popular “ones and I don’t like the really bright ones. I’m in the process of a tarot journal with a new deck now to see if that helps me connect. I think my problem is that I tend to “see” things or get different meanings that are not in the books. Like my take on a card is so out there that I don’t ever see myself being able to read for others. Anywa, thanks for the laughs and the look at even more decks I won’t waste my money on lol😂
I'm glad you included the magickal botanical. I keep cycling through wanting it and talking myself out of it. Now it's back off the wish list, hopefully for good. Because you made me realize - I just want it because I have a certain mental image of my future self who knows and works with plants, has a kitchen hung with herbs, bookshelves heavy with field guides and herbal tomes, windows filled with lush houseplants. But the stark truth is I have trouble keeping anything alive that's more advanced than a hosta. I'm never going to be that bitch and a short deck of pretty cards isn't going to change that
I remember getting the spellcaster’s tarot and never reading all of the guidebook so I didn’t even pay attention to the switch in elements for wands and swords 🙈 then I just stopped using it like three years ago 😅 Not a fan of Rebecca Campbell decks because they literally all look basically the same but with different colour tones. I still have the Rose oracle and it has that horrible box like the starseed box I hate that. I wanted to buy the Seed and Sickle but I don’t think I’ll use it, same with the witches garden tarot…they had big hype but I just don’t think it’s worth me buying them if they’ll just go on the shelf and never be used.
I've got to agree with you on the Danielle Noel decks. I've never liked the art style and all the pastel/muted colors. I was surprised they were all the rage for awhile in the tarot community honestly. That being said I did purchase one of her decks specifically recently called "the starchild tarot" and I only purchased it because it was a damn good match for The Energetics of Color oracle. So I enjoy using those two together but I doubt I would just pull that deck out and work with it on its own.
"Purgatory" as in "purge," also it does act as a waiting space like you described, as in waiting for the next steps in terms of to keep after all, rehome, sell, etc.
I'm totally with you on most of those! I make junk journals and have a couple decks with missing cards that I put random cards in for ephemera. You could resell to crafters who will use them for different things 🤷♀️
The double guidebook for the Seed & Sickle also pisses me off. Like, I love the art on this deck so much and I feel like if I could come up with my own keywords for it (and ditch the two guidebooks), I might be able to really embrace it. But as of right now, all because of the two guidebooks, I just never use it. It's a bummer.
I tend to create a keyword sheet for each oracle which doesn't have keywords on the cards. I keep the sheet with the deck and it works great for me. Perhaps you could try it for the Seed and sickle oracle
The Guardian Tarot has a very specific purpose in my practice. But it's not straight RWS and that was my main draw to it. It creeps me out a little but that's what forces me to pay attention lol
So far I like none of them either. I so agree with your intuition. Purge them to a second hand store.I take mine here locally to Half Price Books. They have a program gives them a demand/popular or rates.. Just a thought.. Be true to you, only you can either connect to a deck or no connection at all.. I have purged twice so I am more particular on my purchases. I like more along the indie decks than mass.. Just my preference.. Be true to yourself...
I loved this video so much that I did a VR haha. And i got messages of people saying that I should not say that I want to get rid of them because it’s offensive. I honestly did not get offended by watching yours 😂 I understand that a deck may be beautiful and all, but if it does not work, it does not work. 😂
Wait where is you VR? I don't see it on your page and I'd like to watch it! Also yeah, people get mad at me all the time too. Someone was in these comments the other day telling me this was "the worst video she'd ever seen on tarottube." She deleted it but I still take it as a huge compliment. 🤷🏽♀️
Nice bunch of decks🤩 I agree ‘Mind’s Eye Tarot’ is a good reader. I don’t use the book at all. It’s in my top 5, because it has such a ‘mood’… I think a ‘melancholy mood’, Just tends to give readings with ease, without a fuss, doesn’t feel harsh, yet can feel sad. ☘️
I'm also not a fan of the Oceangate and Work Your Light and similar art type decks. You are not the only one. The art feels so disconnected and obvious. Nothing too ethereal or elusive. They don't feel very mystical and fall flat for me. This keeps me from purchasing them.
I am also doing a big purge of my things, including my tarot decks. I have more than I will ever need and most are gathering dust. Better that someone else gets to enjoy them. And I am also purging some of the same decks you are. So, I get it. :)
Man, you need to back away from those Noelle or Campbell decks! 😂 I have the Witches Garden and it is very cheerful, which is not what I was expecting. The artwork is beautiful, but I should have known better with the bright colours. So yeh, I think I know what you mean. I use it for happy, light readings…if that makes sense? Not sure if I will keep it for the long haul either.
Adding Tarot of the Witches Garden to my wishlist 😂 but I agree about mist of the others. I hate the pastel AI looking decks. I have to do this with my decks, now.
The coloring on the Llewellyn decks is "cartoonish" IMO and i think thats why it doesnt feel like a magical tool. If you are connecting with artwork so much then do what you want to so the deck becomes useable for you. I have chopped up decks, added keywords, cut off keywords, painted or drawn on decks, etc....
I love your honesty. Some of the decks you want to dump are decks I have that make me think "why did I buy this?" and others are decks I like but delight in hearing your perspective. Thanks for your honesty!
Actively sought to Superthanks for the “I’m morally and ethically opposed to Starseed shit” Edit: You could give those Ravynne decks away to The Alley? It’s kind of the night time version of what the Shadowscapes does for me ❤ I hope it works somethin special on ya if you give it another shot
It has taken me YEARS (and so. Much. Money. 😢) to separate decks with artwork I think I like, or that other people say are brilliant decks to work with, from decks that are actually functional for me to read with. *sigh* I’m still susceptible to FOMO, though-oof. I was just thinking the other day about all the decks I have that just need to GO. 😖
Please make a video about the decks that are firmly in your collection that need to go because I want to add my two cents sooo bad in a great way! New here hii
I don't get the hype about Danielle Noels decks 🤷🏻♂️ A lot of the art is too bright and light and pastel for my liking which causes things to blend in. I'm not into starseed, love, light...stuff. I think she just realeased a rock themed deck and I wanted to be excited for it but I knew it was going to be in her style so I passed even before seeing a video about it. "What what's this shit?" 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 The same goes for Rebecca Campbells decks. I REALY want to like her water/ocean decks and her rose deck...but same issues as above. I don't like decks with art that doesn't go either. I dont like any of the 78 tarot deck collection because there are multiple artists working on the deck, it isnt cohesive. I've seen walk throughs of some of their decks and some of the artists should make decks themselves..it's sad seeing the potential being wasted on a collab deck. Excuse me??!! TWO guidebooks!?!?!?! THAT is SUCH a waste!!!!?!?!!!! I do think Liminal has bad packaging, they are HELLA wasteful!!! Like wtf‽‽‽‽ If the guidebooks are perfect bound, I would try and gut the guidebooks and then reorder them into one guidebook. I feel thee EXACT same way!!!!! I don't feel like I'm a real witch because I don't work with plants. Maybe that could be a future video?? Under 40 card decks does not make sense to me, I prefer oracle decks over 55 cards; 44 doesn't seem like enough. I don't have the Scorpio Sea Tarot but I do like the art. I think the old guy holding the fish would have made a GREAT King of Cups!!! I do find it odd that he repeats as Temperance but it does make sense because you need really great balance when you stand up in a row boat.
Glad I seen this video, I'm going through the same thing. I started collecting massively durning covid, now i have too many that i can not get to on a regular basis. I will give some away and maybe sell the rest on ebay inexpensively.... what do you guys think? Suggestions?
I can't with Guardian Tarot because it reminds me of The Guardian (1990 movie). With the Seed and Sickle: I made my own cheat sheet where I put the plants in alphabetical order and included for each card (page #) (D) keywords and (d for dusk) keywords. I don't cuss and I don't allow my kids to cuss BUT I am appreciative of you being you and your videos :)
Most of these (minus the starseed, mess 🚶♀️🚶♀️) are my dreammmm decks 😳 found you through your complaining about the dreamgate oracle video and cracked up so much I had to subscribe! 🌸
I feel you on buying a deck and not knowing what you were thinking when you got it...😢. I only own 1 Danielle Noel deck and that's the Ocean dreams other than that those style decks like Rebecca Campbell really never have called my interest. I have the Terra Qi and I kid you not every face on that deck was covered with a sticker of an orb... 😅
Well this was a hoot! I too get the skeeves when it comes to the starseed stuff, ick! I totally know what meme you were talking about when you were showing the Modern Spellcasters! lol I'll be interested to know how it goes with these and whether you do end up getting rid of them or not.

@@stacies89 I sell them in Germany on a local app, as I am from there. But there are several facebook tarot marketplace groups, you can find them via the search bar.

OMG getting rid of magical botannical oracle?! How dare you! Hashtag shook. 😂 Totally unpopular way to go. Personally I never liked it. The hype never resonated. That goddess deck I didn't even know existed, I love that! 🤩
I’m sorry for being an annoying cvnt and live commemting, but on the horrible llewellyn decks: A. You’ve noticed, B. The encouraging of the saturation is a THING, honey. They managed to get Jessica Laroux (woodland wardens) to do a deck for them and it looks like a saturated unoriginal cheap mess, mawmaw.
I’m pretty sure Danielle Noel doesn’t use AI… however, I have been hearing some rumblings about publishers forcing artists to use AI to reflect their wishes more and because they deem it ‘trendy’ and a quick hack to fix artwork they’re not pleased with. Pressuring artists with threat of not publishing the work or not paying them etc.
Well someone is decluttering her cutesy and twee decks! Good for you 👍 I have been muttering to myself all morning about how TarotTubers are all too polite and don’t say what they really think…. And here you are in my algorithm 🤣🤣 This has been very refreshing. It’s not just the colours that are saturated on decks, the whole tarot/oracle market is over-saturated and there is no reason to like every single deck out there. Some of the twee decks these days are just downright patronising imho. Saying hello from over the pond in London, UK
30 mins in, and the only deck I might get here is Seed & Sickle. I'm 100% with you on anything starseed. Daniele Noel/Rebecca Campbell type decks are a hard no for me. I also hate over packaging, such a waste of resources and space. The decks you combined into one deck you could just recycle. I've done thst with decks, thrown them in the recycle bin, lol! I don't like Lewelyn decks, either. They seem totally cheap and cheesy, like a kids cartoon. It's like they're putting all the effort into the big, wasteful guidebook rather than the deck. 😊✌️❤️🙋♀️
I love The Scorpio Races, it’s one of my favorite books. I’ve never purchased the tarot deck because I just don’t get it. I don’t like the craft paper look, and the deck doesn’t feel anywhere near as magical as the story.
I'm not a real witch because I don't work with plants and I totally don't give a crap about astrology. Let's form a support group, get some t-shirts, and have snacks.
I kill plants. And, I accept that. If not for my husband, we would not have a green living thing in the house. If I had to define my witchyness from my plant usage, I would be a complete failure. But, a couple ideas for the seed and sickle. If you are going to use it, make up your mind which book is in use that day. Dawn or Dusk. And just stick with it. Or, if you are going to put keyword, you could do the same. Also, let me say. There are so many decks out there. And some appeal to some people and not others. There are a ton of decks that are mainstream and WOWed about that I am just never going to have. And, I got to the point where I know what I like and what I will use. So, I can now look at a deck and appreciate the art or the hype but honestly say NO. It is so freeing. It means I get get to enjoy what I have and I don't have to worry about if someone raves about one I wouldn't use. The creator made it for another person and that is ok.
Its history has ties to racism, eugenics, and Nazism, not to mention it's rife with New Age spiritual bypassing. Here's a good article with a nice overview: www.philosophyforlife.org/blog/starseeds-nazis-in-space
Oh my god, only a couple of minutes in but yes about the swords/wands fire/air thing! And when people swap the elements for kings/knights! It totally throws me. Like I know it’s all personal preference and not “wrong” but it makes it harder to read a deck for sure and I tend not to keep them around. Edit: “you can’t read a deck of part of you is going”this fucking sucks” - never a truer word spoken.
Back to say, “I feel sick” - I feel that. Sometimes I look at my tarot shelf and I’m like, “You’re a sick deck glutton.” Have I gotten rid of any of them? No. 🤦🏻♀️
It's funny to see you complain about the photoshop on one of the decks because that's the sort of thing that tends to bother me with looking for interesting oracle decks. I feel like there's a lot of them that have that mid-2000's photobash look to them and I'm not fond of that. I'd rather have something more visually cohesive.
I have Danielle Noel’s The Starchild Tarot and while I do actually love the aesthetic and artwork of it, I can’t for the life of me understand anything it’s trying to tell me from the images EVER 🤷🏻♀️ It’s really frustrating because I want to love it but I just can’t read it 😭 and for that reason I have never bought another DN deck… 🫠
“I’m morally and ethically opposed to starseed shit” YES

Who here has starseed and other Rebecca Campbell decks collecting dust right now? Hands up 🙌 😂
Yeah, I went all out and collected them but there's a lot of repetition and samey messages. I wonder what the new stone circle oracle will be like?
They're absolutely beautiful and there's a few of them that I would love to give a try but I suspect I wouldn't use them much.

Wands being air and swords being fire makes the most sense to me. I think of how trees produce oxygen and how swords are forged in fire.

@@tarotreadingsfromabitch whoa, WTF! Where can I check to cross reference? I hate that the art world is coming to this
Well someone is decluttering her cutesy and twee decks! Good for you 👍
I have been muttering to myself all morning about how TarotTubers are all too polite and don’t say what they really think…. And here you are in my algorithm 🤣🤣
This has been very refreshing.
I would take your mixed up Messenger and Seeker oracles off your hands! I'm near Monument.❤
I'm not a real witch because I don't work with plants and I totally don't give a crap about astrology. Let's form a support group, get some t-shirts, and have snacks.
Subscribed!!! I love your wit and irreverence and yes Free Palestine.
Just curious, why are you morally and ethically opposed to the idea of star seeds?
Its history has ties to racism, eugenics, and Nazism, not to mention it's rife with New Age spiritual bypassing. Here's a good article with a nice overview: www.philosophyforlife.org/blog/starseeds-nazis-in-space
@@tarotreadingsfromabitch Thanks for the quick reply! I will definitely check that out!
So you can’t dislike something and have an opinion? I don’t get it. (See what I did there?)
I hate the guardian tarot, I think the art is so scary
Hide the Pain Harold
YES
Hi i also don't like these decks 😂
I have Danielle Noel’s The Starchild Tarot and while I do actually love the aesthetic and artwork of it, I can’t for the life of me understand anything it’s trying to tell me from the images EVER 🤷🏻♀️ It’s really frustrating because I want to love it but I just can’t read it 😭 and for that reason I have never bought another DN deck… 🫠
