I remember when I was little, my grandma used to put on episodes of The Joy of Painting when I came to visit. We'd watch it with lunch, and then my grandpa would go make malted milkshakes in his old drinkmaster during the commercials. The last half of the episode was always with milkshakes there in that sunny old living room. Great memories!

He says that because an artist needs to make everything look good and happy for it to sell. I don't use oil paint like Bob, I use acrylic but I always say it must be a happy tree,ect when I paint because this is what sells paintings. Bob's paintings are happy paintings.

I love how Bob never puts TOO much detail into his paintings. He leaves the detail so the mind can fill in the gaps, giving an almost nostalgic feel. It makes the paintings feel personal to everyone who views it.
You have to consider "dislikes" as "jealousy, or in other words, a LIKE" on the internet. Understand people have a choice to be positive or negative, and therefore, they will be negative just because.... Perhaps it was a "happy little accident"? But yeah, anyone to actually give Bob Ross a dislike needs therapy at extreme expense instead of just painting along with Bob.... People would give the Mona Lisa a thumbs down in numbers. (just need that "happy little asteroid" to fix that.....)

The photo realism he got out of done of those canvases was mine blowing to me. And he did it in real time in 30 freakin minutes! A true master in his own right

Bob Ross is so comforting, he's like a warm furry purring kitten on your lap in the early morning with a cup of earl gray and some pleasant music, on the porch, wrapped in a blanket, watching the sun come up. I love him.
when Bob paint and talks all those happy things, i get tears in my eyes. Ive been depressed for a very long time, and watching Bob makes me feel all those happy feelings i dont feel nowadays anymore. I was watching an episode last night and was completely overwhelmed tears streaming down my face. I can’t even describe the feeling- never felt it before. The best I can explain it was pure joy. I don’t know what it is, but whenever I watch Bob paint, all of my loneliness just vanishes. I still haven’t completely gotten over a past relationship and when I’m feeling lonely, I come to watch Bob Ross and it legitimately helps. Thanks Bob, you’ll forever be missed

When I was 5 years old this show would come on before the morning news and I remember waking up and watching this episode and it was my favorite painting. Crazy to watch this again. It’s been 30 years since I seen this and I remember this painting clear as day. What a talented man.

planetX15 Because, as I've said, they're on every single video, for the entire video. When I watch a playlist, which is 69 videos, I have to turn off the annotations every video. Watch TV with a big thing on the screen and it comes back every new show that come on. After a while, you'll want that feature removed too.

Yeah, I do the same thing. It's especially nice when you're organizing your desk or something else that needs thought, but is boring. Bob in the background makes it more fun somehow.

I never liked art in general but… this man is so incredible… no bullshit conceptual paint, just plain old nature, all while telling the viewer "you can do it, you can do whatever it is you set your mind in if you try". That philosophy is fantastic. Thank you, whoever uploaded these.
i was late to the punch by a decade as i'm a 90's baby. though being an artist myself i still enjoy listening and watching Bob Ross paint very much. but it sure must have been something to be able to grow up watching him.
Me maybe 5 or 6 at grandmas watching bob beat the devil out of that brush while I eat breakfast. Sigh, both grandma and bob are gone now =(. The memory's are with us forever though, and those are priceless.
This is so ASMR...I just listen to it while I work and code away. His voice, the sound of brush hitting the canvas...it all increases my concentration and washes the stress away!

I use to watch him on PBS when I was a teenager in the late 70’s on Saturday afternoons. His voice was so soothing and I would relax before getting ready to go out on Saturday nights. Just loved his show.
And his hands too , I write a sentence and my hands end up getting all the attention of the pen , so let's not talk about how ' clean' I am after painting
Where are all these paintings? Are they in an art museum? There should be a dark quiet room with all his paintings laid out for people to see, while Bob's beautiful voice is playing through the speakers. I would pay good money to experience that.
He donated 99% of his paintings. He made 3 copies of each painting. The original, the one he used as a guide when he recorded the show, and the one he paints on the show. To get an original Bob Ross, you have to shell out some serious cash......like 20k

I was watching an episode last night and was completely overwhelmed tears streaming down my face. I can’t even describe the feeling- never felt it before. The best I can explain it was pure joy. I don’t know what it is, but whenever I watch Bob paint, all of my loneliness just vanishes. I still haven’t completely gotten over a past relationship and when I’m feeling lonely, I come to watch Bob Ross and it legitimately helps. Thanks Bob, you’ll forever be missed
This is my favorite bob Ross painting. The purple sky is so calming. It’s doesn’t feel like a painting to me. It feels like a real place I can drive to and just admire.

When I was 5 years old this show would come on before the morning news and I remember waking up and watching this episode and it was my favorite painting. Crazy to watch this again. It’s been 30 years since I seen this and I remember this painting clear as day. What a talented man.

Everyone loves Bob and shit but no one seems to realize how beautiful this painting actually is..
the spoopy moth yeah people know how beautiful the painting is, but they also love how chill bob is, not only are his episodes a how to series, but a way to connect himself and the viewer emotionally by painting, making people love him for being so relaxed and laid back making his viewers continue to watch episodes for his art AND soothing voice and personality

planetX15 Because, as I've said, they're on every single video, for the entire video. When I watch a playlist, which is 69 videos, I have to turn off the annotations every video.
Watch TV with a big thing on the screen and it comes back every new show that come on. After a while, you'll want that feature removed too.

I never liked art in general but… this man is so incredible… no bullshit conceptual paint, just plain old nature, all while telling the viewer "you can do it, you can do whatever it is you set your mind in if you try". That philosophy is fantastic. Thank you, whoever uploaded these.

i was late to the punch by a decade as i'm a 90's baby. though being an artist myself i still enjoy listening and watching Bob Ross paint very much. but it sure must have been something to be able to grow up watching him.

I use to watch him on PBS when I was a teenager in the late 70’s on Saturday afternoons. His voice was so soothing and I would relax before getting ready to go out on Saturday nights. Just loved his show.
It always amazes me that despite the fact that he keeps the palette very close to his shirt, it never gets stained with paint.
And his hands too , I write a sentence and my hands end up getting all the attention of the pen , so let's not talk about how ' clean' I am after painting

Where are all these paintings? Are they in an art museum? There should be a dark quiet room with all his paintings laid out for people to see, while Bob's beautiful voice is playing through the speakers. I would pay good money to experience that.
