This man (Bob Ross) used to be on PBS in Northern Ontario on weekdays at 2.00 pm. When I used to pretend to my parents that I was sick and stayed at home from boring school. I always watched his painting programs. That was 1988-1994. And when I found out the following year watching the re-runs just wasn't the same because he passed away.
Bob Ross was a gift the rest of humanity didn’t deserve. I absolutely love watching him. Even as a kid I loved his videos even though I was way too young to paint and follow his directions properly. I loved just sitting in front of the tv in the early 90’s and watching him. He is sorely missed. No one will ever equal his personality, grace, softness and talent.
I like how he's just talking shit about the production staff "they have no sense of humor if I don't get this done in a half hour" haha fight the power Bob
All in good fun. He'd record an entire year of episodes in one day. So they'd be there many hours. It was his show and certainly after a few years he was calling all the shots so he was aware it was a balance getting those paintings done in time while also enjoying his one day a year he'd express himself to the world.
Bob passed away 29 years and I remember watching him paint on TV. Here it is Oct 2024 and I watch these videos now and try my hand at them but I mainly watch them because of him. He leaves everyone that watches them in a better state of mind and more at peace with themselves.

When i was a little kid, i went to this camp and in the mornings the way the sunlight reflected off the trees looked just like how he painted the trees here. Amazing skill.

I have a number of paintings I have watched Bob paint. They are the ones I intend to paint. Once I am happy with my own results on those practice paintings, then I will do my first real serious one. It will have to have a running stream, a happy little cottage and possibly autumn type trees, all in one painting. I watch Bob to seriously become motivated. I love his calm voice. He doesn't put me to sleep. He makes me realise how much I want to paint like he did. R. I. P. Bob Ross. You will not be forgotton. You are loved across the globe!
These videos bring back very good memories for me from my childhood. I lived to draw and later paint. My first adult gift to myself in college was an acrylic paint set!
The way he tells little happy stories in between, and then he just gets back to the painting and just builds up new features as he goes, telling us that there might be a lil mountain, there might be the starting of this lake, here could live some trees, etc... and the second time he's saying any sentence and it's way more delicate and gentle than the earlier one.... these little stuff just feels like true therapy to me... his videos, his art, his way of talking... everything just seems sm theraputic, calming and soothing to me, feels like his words can heal the worst anxiety in this world... they can make anyone relax and stop worrying about anything🥺🥺❤❤

I'm 32 and have been watching Bob paint since I was about six and I'm still captivated watching how quick and clean his work always was.
He is infact uncorrupted activist for Environment.He is a real Environmentalist.
This modern world is losing the sweetness and kindness of Mother Nauture.
