Just replaced my starter yesterday. My local dealer quoted my 925.00 to replace it including the starter. And I could not bring myself to spend that kind of money for something I can do myself lol took me 45 minutes I was in no rush lol. Also replaced my body mounts with s&b mounts. Which I priced out at the dealer and they told me 1500.00 using my s&b mounts. Which I did not pay them. I did those myself also in 3hrs
I did one, today, on a 183k 2015 F550. I had gotten the starter loose by going through the fender liner, before finding your method. Conveniently, you and I were basically doing it the same way. I never saw the workshop procedure. But, it makes total sense to pull it out like we do.
Just checked my batteries and my alternator and both are good. Truck is having a rough time starting so looks like I’ll be putting in a new starter manana!! Just cleared a P1249 code and now this started acting up!! I appreciate your videos. They have certainly have helped working on my 6.7.
I changed out the starter on my 2014 Superduty last night. This video really helped! It took me a "little bit" longer Really need a jointed forearm and an extendable eye with build in light!
I put a starter on my 15 6.7. Starter was a reman from a local parts store. Thing lasted a thousand miles before it stripped the teeth off of the flexplate. 700 dollars later for a flexplate and a starter later. Buy OEM starters. That's the lesson I learned.
I changed the starter on my 2015 Superduty 6.7 and went out the bottom without removing anything else. Seriously, it's not easy, but I got it done. Don't want to do it again. Too bad I didn't see this video first.
I have replaced MANY 6.7 starters. But I've never needed to remove the inner fender to do it, nor the oil filter adapter housing. Pretty much the way you angle it, is the same way I've done them and coming down the bottom.
How would you tell if it is the starter that is bad? Mine currently just clicks but then nothing happens. I charged the batteries and they are good. is there anything else I should check before doing this procedure?
Thanks for the video my 19' batteries died, I replaced them now it won't crank, checked fuses and nothing, thinking it's the starter I'll replace this weekend
You’d be one hell of a mentor and I’d be stoked to have you as one. I’m in Northwest Arkansas so I guess I’ll just settle for your videos instead 🤷🏻♂️😂

I was just about to ask this question. I have a 6.4 starter on my 6.0 and wanted to put a 6.7 starter on but wasn't sure. Any issues with installing or did it bolt right up?
@@upnorth6.0 it bolted right up. I can't tell 6.4 from 6.7 sitting next to each other but the 6.7 is stronger. I did not dismantle one of each to find the differences.
Looks like a few minutes with correct power tools but still 1/2 a day overall job. Jacking, removing tire and wheel and fender well. But overall looks easier than manual directions.
Replacing mine this weekend on my 2011 6.7 with 232k miles. Its been dragging but it starts it. Stealer-ship wanted $1183. No thank you! Should be fun.
Have you hear anything about the 2023 F250 or F350 as for features and looks and so one. I am still waiting on the 2022 F250 but still hasn't even been built.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Cool thanks. I have been watching your channel for a while and I am learning a lot. I just can't wait to get my truck sometime.

I just replaced mine on a 2015 6.7 and this video was a huge help. Although I did forget to put the black cap protector on the nuts. 🤦🏻♂️
thankyou my dude. watch other videos and they had me fighting for my life to angle the damn thing downwards. this way makes way more sense.
Love it! Uncut, really shows that even the best gotta hunt for that bolt head and get some ghost spins in
Lmaooo i like that, funny
Keep in mind this man is doing it one handed!
Thanks! that trick of tilting the starter and going through fender liner saved my bacon!
Thank you so much for this video! This saved me some hours for sure. The starter came out and the new one went in exactly as described.
Told ya 🫡

Cool deal. When my starter goes bad. I will know that trick. Thanks PTT
You the man arod, I only rock the oem ford starters. Had too many issues with the box store junk.
VERY sincerely appreciate your time and these videos ARod!!! Thank you sir!
Excellent!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 “That’s what’s up”

Just had mine replaced. Wish I had your video like three weeks ago! :-)

Thank you very much. Will try it tomorrow.
excellent explanation brother

Very cool 😎

Does that work on a 6.2 gas?
Would this be the same process on the 2017?
Yessssir
Got mine done following this. Took me just over 1.5hrs.
@pinedac2001 gravy
I love how the 6.7 starters spin my 6.0 engines over. HP oil pressure build is quicker so it starts in about one revolution.

my truck cranks a bit longer than it should batteries are new and 14.7 volts on meter when running does that sound like a starter
....MOST likely not...
Nice.. now I know that way will work
Thanks for video, really helpful
Does doing the aftermarket upgrades that you have shown in your videos, such as,air filter box , air cooler hose etc. Void your warranty on the 6.7 ?
No sir
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod thank you

Thanks for the great info in this video...

Very helpful appreciate you
Awesome made it look easy, what's the average life span on the factory starter?
Dont really have an answer for u
Mine died at 120K
Hey muchas gracias!!!!
I changed both batteries and new starter, still no crank or nothing. WTH!!
Judging by the blue tint of the truck and the landscape supplies I'm pretty sure I've purchased mulch from them before 🧐🧐
Fuggin busted 😵💫
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod busted, lips sealed 🤐 🤐 😂
Good job
I hope Arod remembered to reinstall that plastic terminal cover. :)
Clip n ready fer da next guy
Great job, btw. 🙂
Just needs a little tappy tap. Just kidding 😂
Little XG-8 on the nuts keeps the oxidation at bay. Been doing that for a while on starter cable connections.
I've been on this thing for 2 days
BRUHH cmon seriously
Was it my eyes, or were the bolts loose?
Nope
👍
Kinda surprised the starter on such a large engine - esp a diesel is so relatively small.
Gear reduction starters are smaller and provide more cranking torque. Not all manufacturers go this way.
That truck was low on coolant in the reservoir.
Too many Rugelahs...out of breath!!! Lol lol lol
Hahahahahahahha
I haven't done it yet and after watching your video... I have to say, I'm not looking forward to doing it either.
wheres the jack stand
There
dude you cut out the wiggle to get it in
Is this that truck?
Spoooooooooky
You just saved my life. 225k on my 2015, mine just went NYC-to-MIA.
