She had a pretty active role in the series. She was a prominent character in Waking the Dragons Arc and was there for Tea in her duel against the Penguin player in season 3. Very prominent in non-canon arcs.

This is a great example of why I think Yu Gi Oh is a bit inferior to Pokemon. For all the talk about believing in the cards, they don't really get to have any interactions with their owners. Even just a few moments of celebration would be able to go a long way. This rings especially true for cards like Dark Magician Girl who have full on personalities like in the GX episode Duel Monster Spirit Day episode where she actually gets to spend a day outside of her card.

I feel there's a lot of potential with just showing characters interacting with their cards. The OCG Structures manga kind of shows something like it too. A series about a protagonist being only in the Duel Monsters world would be sick. Kind of like a reverse Isekai like Gx but they expand on it I feel like a video game of some kind would be perfect to expand on stuff like this. Especially now that there's so many different cards and I'm sure people would love to see how their favorite cards react when it comes to expressions and emotions and stuff.
