It wasn't until later that you started seeing cards that used the word black.

There's a difference between the Heart of the Cards giving you the card you hoping and need to draw verses knowing which card you're drawing next thanks to special invisible ink and x-ray contact lenses.

In the anime version of the game, cards don't have printed descriptions, so the only way to know what they do is through memorization/experimentation. Also, some cards only have a few copies in existence, mainly because they were all painted by Pegasus.

Starting from season 2 onwards, the rules of the anime were pretty consistent with the real life rules which the characters followed but you people probably never watched that far.

You know, after watching this in Japanese I've got to say the story hits much more smoothly in the original release. As for this in particular, I know Dark Magician Girl gets her own theme during her summoning, and it's actually kinda catchy.
