When I first started watching John Ross, I felt like he was a great value Hoovie. But now that I've followed his channel for a while, I have respect for his hustle to upload good content frequently and for being himself through the process
I have been dealing with this passenger airbag light since I last commented several years ago. Today it stayed on even when no one was in the passenger seat, so I got a little annoyed and start messing around. Bear with me. I decided to remove the seat sensor to try and find a break in the connection like you mentioned in the video. I cut the clips that sandwich the sensor together, so that I could spread it apart. I noticed a decent amount of lint / dust in between the contacts and both sides of the membrane, also a small amount of dried soda at the bottom. With the contacts laid flat, I wiped off the membrane and the contacts with paper towels and rubbing alcohol. Didn't have any breaks or other damage to the sensor. After cleaning, I threw it back in the passenger seat and start the car. Light was gone. When I sat down, Passenger airbag "ON" was lit and the #2 Belt buckle light was blinking; the sensor was seeing me and was not throwing any malfunctions. I tried moving around the seat and also using my knee as the pressure point, moving around and I could not recreate the malfunction warning. Could be worth a shot if anyone else comes across this video. Just make sure you flush cut the plastic press clips that secure the sensor from underneath the seat. Once its free from the seat frame, you can then pull the padding away from the sensor and further flush cut the plastic clip from the sensor. If you try to pull the plastic clip with a trim remover etc. you will very likely break some of the contacts in the sensor.
The pontiac solstice and saturn sky had the same issue and a buddy of mine in our sky, solstice car club got it to become a recall from a tsb. Sounds like they need to recall the camaro too and any other chevy with that garage system. Great videos by the way. Keep up the awesome work.
One of the most impressive jobs you have done - electronics are a bear to fix and that engine was a mess with the sludge you bought. Impressed beyond anything you fixed everything on this car. Congratulations!
That mat is a common problem for a lot of cars. Often it is caused by someone standing on a knee reaching over to the other side effectively tearing that mat.
I was intrigued with that scan tool you were using so I checked in your description for info on it, I clicked on the link then almost fell off my chair, lol when I saw the $2700 price.
Yes! This clip has everything! Impossible camera angles, lawsuits, weird engineering choices, broken stuff fixed! I loved it. It was much better than CATS.
Love the videos, keep up the great work. It is amazing to me that a car that young with so few miles could have those electrical problems, not to mention the timing chain issues. I drive a Toyota, that's 3 years older, with three times the miles, and have never had any of these type of issues. Car is used for a ride share, literally thousands of people have gotten in and out of the front passenger seat. Never had a failed sensor yet. Seems like GM really has a lot of problems with electrical crap.

I've never heard of this as a problem. Had my 2010 SS since 2016 and I also spend a ton of time on the Camaro5 forums. The HVAC blend door IS an issue it should have been recalled for. I truly believe every single 5th gen will experience a broken blend door at some time in it's life.

At the moment the 2nd one is still in the car I just unplugged the power wire so it is stuck in CLOSE mode at the moment.
I have blend door issues on my 2005 Silverado and 2007 Impala SS, it's a GM wide problem. Amazon blend doors are $30 and have lasted longer than Delphi ones.
I think this was mentioned in another comment on another 5th gen camaro video but the gauges in the console were in the V6 model if you had the 2LT package only real diff between 1LT and 2LT was the center console gauges, leather seats, and I THINK upgraded audio and rear parking sensors. that is why when you order that center console gauge cluster you have to let them know if you have a V6 or a V8 they do have different ones for the 2 V6s (auto and manual) and the 2 for the V8 (auto and manual).
There's usually some tricks pros use or people that understand how it's put together figure out on their own. We have a 99 300m in the fleet and replacing headlight bulbs is a stupid undertaking if you do it the way the manual tells you to and slightly better if you follow some of the you tube videos of getting to them without taking all kinds of pieces off the front end to get to them. They build cars to be assembled in units on the line, not to be easy to service later. And let's save a dollar per car using the cheapest part that might make warranty.

Still haven’t fixed it yet, can’t believe GM is asking $800 to fix something that they poorly designed. this should’ve been recalled. They never fixed my rattling rear speakers. Not just the Camaros have this problem. The 3 gen W bodies have as well. One W body Impala was involved in a crash that a front seat passenger was in but the passenger airbag never deployed and because the airbag never deployed the passenger of the Impala died 10 months later. The driver has since then sued General Motors.
Having exact same issue w my same year Camaro. I had no idea there were lawsuits, but I've been checking for recalls. I need it fixed because my 13yr old boy sits in the passenger seat. Looks semi ez for a gal tht has no problems but I'm disabled and obviously can't afford for Chevy to do it. How about your tire pressure sensors? Mine are shot but we've been driving cars for decades without those anyway.
Is there a colour mismatch between the passenger door and the rear quarter panel? Can't tell if it is light/camera angles, but spotted in few of the videos on this car.
For most old BMWs you just have to put in a resistor instead of the mat. Only downside is that the passenger airbag will go off even if there is nobody sitting there.
I mean, the car should have been recalled for the timing chains LOL. Got new chains, CEL came back on, tried a different brand / different sprockets and tensioners, new phasers, new actuators, new position sensors, new crankshaft, and now is having the engine replaced. 103k regularly maintained with zero sludge and looks brand new under the CS covers. Apparently bank 2 head has enough wear in the caps to cause enough timing issue to cause misfires on the opposite side
John, i noticed aBarton County Ks tag on your Camaro and was wondering if your in Great Bend or Hoisington? not being nosey but i'm from GB,just wondering.Love your camaro's by the way!!
So happy to see the Camaro back in good shape again. I must confess though....I’ve been spending a lot of time over at Vice Grip Garage. Can’t hardly blame a fella it’s just good entertainment I guess. 😎
Do not put the retaining clips back in. Duct tape the pad to the metal seat frame and problem solved. I have no idea why it would cost $1000 to replace that pad. I gave $135 for one off ebay.
I commented on another video that your driver door is a different color. I now realize that I was wrong. It's the rear quarter panel that is a different color.
Sounds like how the Cruze should be recalled for the PCV valve in the intake manifold going bad and the turbo compresses the crankcase... no recall... Gotta replace the whole intake manifold and valve cover.
Dad always told me to never buy a V6 Camaro unless you want your wife to be from a Waffle House. I said Daddy isn't your Camaro a V6?? Having exact same issue w my same year Camaro. I had no idea there were lawsuits, but I've been checking for recalls. I need it fixed because my 13yr old boy sits in the passenger seat. Looks semi ez for a gal tht has no problems but I'm disabled and obviously can't afford for Chevy to do it. How about your tire pressure sensors? Mine are shot but we've been driving cars for decades without those anyway.
👍💪vind het leuk om het proces te volgen super goed om te zien hoe sommige producten werken ,motor reinigen was ongelofelijk.😅👍
love to follow the process super good to see how some products work, engine cleaning was unbelievable...... (you're welcome)....
What's the weight limit for the seat sensor?
Is there a colour mismatch between the passenger door and the rear quarter panel? Can't tell if it is light/camera angles, but spotted in few of the videos on this car.
Had similar issue on my e39, Gravel works well and it fixed itself
For most old BMWs you just have to put in a resistor instead of the mat.
Only downside is that the passenger airbag will go off even if there is nobody sitting there.
What does the little metal lever that is in front of the module under the seat do?
What’s going on with the old porche ??
If I could work on the Camero with Watch JR Goes I would drink the cold Bartle Skeets and puff on the Cannabis Cigars and get all schmoked up.
Does anyone know if the 2003 Sierra is the same setup? I'm having issues with the passenger seat tripping the Airbag warning.
Actually I fixed one of those last week buy just unplugging the connector and plugging it back in a few times. Hasn't come back yet 🍻
@@WatchJRGo good deal, I'll give it a go when I get the chance.
@@WatchJRGo Would some deox spray help too?
John, i noticed aBarton County Ks tag on your Camaro and was wondering if your in Great Bend or Hoisington? not being nosey but i'm from GB,just wondering.Love your camaro's by the way!!
So happy to see the Camaro back in good shape again. I must confess though....I’ve been spending a lot of time over at Vice Grip Garage. Can’t hardly blame a fella it’s just good entertainment I guess. 😎
THAT is a great channel.
Do not put the retaining clips back in. Duct tape the pad to the metal seat frame and problem solved. I have no idea why it would cost $1000 to replace that pad. I gave $135 for one off ebay.
hey john, would you actually buy another frame damaged car after the kia?
Sure, but the Kia damage was minimal... seems like front and rear end collisions are what you want. 🍻
@@WatchJRGo are you going to take the r8 to NC/TN tail so the dragon?
I’m sure there’s probably a reason, but why does the passenger airbag need to be activated by someone being in the seat? Can’t it just always be on?
Why do you want the expense of replacing the dash and air bag if no one is in the seat? I suppose it is a styling trade off.
This was a great series. Are you going to get rid of the r8 as well?
So the heat still worked? I wonder if my accord may have a simple fix?
I commented on another video that your driver door is a different color. I now realize that I was wrong. It's the rear quarter panel that is a different color.
I'm loving that Camaro! Looking forward for the 1967 Camaro RS project soon!
Sounds like how the Cruze should be recalled for the PCV valve in the intake manifold going bad and the turbo compresses the crankcase... no recall... Gotta replace the whole intake manifold and valve cover.
Dorman makes a intake.
Hi What is the name of the piece and what is its number please
Dad always told me to never buy a V6 Camaro unless you want your wife to be from a Waffle House. I said Daddy isn't your Camaro a V6?? He told me to go to the Waffle House and tell my mama that I been sassin him and bring home a Patty Melt for him. I say Daddy help me put the tires back on it first and he said he already done his part putting it up on the cinder blocks, quit whining, get him a beer and leave him alone.
The only V6 Camaro I would buy is the 3.8. Anything other than a 3.8, SBC, or LS/LT you’re asking for trouble.
I feel dumber by reading this
Giving me Joe Dirt flashbacks and now I'm hungry
The GM kappa platform has this issue also.
Did you disconnect the battery?
