This is the first scrappy quilt without sashing that I like to look at. The continuity of the bright centers helps the eye have a place to rest and doesn't feel like total chaos to a "must have some neat and orderliness to it" quilter. Thanks so much!
Yes there are many way to do this. This is just the first idea I had and was using up that basket of overflowing blue scraps. I have several more ideas on how to make these blocks.
Love this idea. I make a lot of scrapy quilts...but never thought of using a contrasting color like this. I love love love Starry Night by Van Gogh ...I will diffintly make this quit...thank you for the idea😊
@@juliemiller2658 this is addicting to do. Also I have seen some spectacular ones done in just yellows. Make sure you have contrast and it could be really stunning.
I have a son who wants a blue quilt and I love this with the oranges and yellows and the randomness of it. It feels very freeing as I am inclined to fear lines and repeating the same fabric next to each other. I tend to find that blues run very often and wonder if you have a remedy for setting the blues and reds so they don't darken the yellows.
Yes Color Catchers. You can get them in the laundry aisle at most grocery stores. There are several brands, I have found all work pretty well. If I am concerned about a particular fabric I will throw two in wash and then when the wash cycle is done. Check the color catchers if they are dark with color I will wash again with new color catchers. I did a finished quilt three times to get the red out. I don't wash scraps, but if I have a bigger piece I am worried about I will wash it first before I use the fabric in a quilt.
Super cool, I am in the middle of making a Van Gogh starry nights scrappy quilt, love this idea for the background. My only suggestion here is would be nice if u could show the whole quilt at the end of the video. Tks
I haven't got enough scraps to make two blocks yet. I'm still in the beginning. I have a Brother domestic sewing machine. Most of the videos I have seen, they say I am using a 2.5 stitch . My machine has a dial that has 1, 2, 3, do I use a 2, or 3?
@@RoseWaddell-jj7oe yes try 2 first and stitch for about an inch then move to 3 and stitch for another inch and see which you like better. Remember the length of stitches is important to hold your seams together. Also you might have to unstitch so what you are comfortable with. Don't worry about not enough scraps it will happen.

It is important to have that composition in your quilts. A place for the eye to rest, instead of keep moving and getting lost.
Yep, scraps happen😝
Thanxabunch for all this helpful thought process!!! ❤️😀
Yeah I love to help you use up those scraps. Would love to see what you do.
The small pops of golds really makes the quilt. I love scrap quilts.

Blue is my favourite colour so I was drawn to this quilt top straight away. I love anything scrappy - now subbed - watching from England 🤩
Thank you so much for subscribing! I'm thrilled to connect with fellow blue enthusiasts from England. Happy quilting!
Great inspiration, heading to my sewing room to give it a go.
That’s awesome! Can’t wait to see what you whip up. Have fun in your sewing zone! Love to know what color combination you are going to try.

I know right, I never thought of this until you see something and get a idea. That's what I love about quilting.
Love this idea. Easy sewing, but more dramatic than the “multi color “ quilts that seem to be more for children..
@@saundraweed9738 there are so many stunning options with this idea.
Really enjoyed this video!
Great the question is are you going to try to make one?
My scraps keep growing so I am always looking for scrap quilt ideas. I love your blue and yellow design. Thank you for sharing.
This is easy and addictive. I know what you mean that the scraps just keep growing.
I always have scraps and I need to make one using colors like this. Thank you.
Go for it! Have fun with this, it's not hard and you will develop an eye for color you like.
I need to use a bunch of yellow fabric up, it looks really good with the blue, I’ll have to do this. I love sewing without measuring!

You have such a nice, genuine conversational style. Thanks for this tutorial.
Thank you
Yes, you’re right. My favourite TH-cam quilters are those with an easy listening style.
@@perfectseams Thank you I love sharing new ideas and techniques with other quilters
We also have colours we prefer so will appeal thanks😊
You're welcome 😊

Yes this is a really cool idea. I will post a picture on the community tab so you can see the whole quilt. I am still adding to it to make it bigger.

Thanks glad you enjoyed it.
Where have my scraps taken me? 🤪🚑🏥
Exactly, we all them and they seem to multiply when we are not looking.
