I dont think it's a lie; I just think it's a clichéd answer for a valid reason. I think it's really consistency and persistence. These guys grind, travel constantly, deal with heckling/shitty crowds, bombing, not making any money until you're the 1%, it looks like they're just chilling but both these guys are hard workers.
LOL Stav saying that he needs to take the summer off because “working too hard and too much” is the foremost threat to his life and what hes worried about killing him 😭
It's not the job itself. The job itself is incredibly easy. And only like a couple of hours a day. It's the travel that kills you. I used to have a job where I would have to be in a different city literally every single weekend except Easter. It was an "easy" sit down job. Three years of it and I literally could not drag myself onto another plane. I quit between connecting flights in Houston. I didn't even get on the connecting flight! @@thelastmanonearth2631 that is definitely understandable and I can empathize with quitting how you did regardless thats wild though 😂 I cant imagine especially going that long if you didn’t really have a fixed abode or even a place to really feel “away” from. @@AKRIDASGAMWEKSOGIINI I can see how in terms of managing discipline and routine that line of work and traveling would be more difficult but I can also see ways that it could be easier to focus on certain things when away from home. My point is just any of the basic healthy practices and measures are completely accessible, and touring or working itself is not the direct cause of any of his health problems. If Im coming up on my university finals I can think that Im going to need nicotine more than ever right about now , or I can look at it like I’m going to need to be focused and free of vices more than ever right now and university itself has no real role in my addiction or my decision. It’s obviously uncomfortable and personal and we all have friends in positions like that but genuinely, at 300lb+ you can and should be fasting and travelings seems like it could aid with that a-lot.
So, the reason people have a prob with Stav leaving the podcast formerly known as Cumtown is because it doesn't really make sense when you look closer at what he says. He doesn't like podcasts. Oh wait, he doesn't like doing his own podcast but doesn't mind being a guest on others podcasts. But now he's doing his own podcast or maybe a couple of them. He's also said he got into comedy so that he wouldn't be burdened by a regular work schedule yet then says he's working a crazy amount now. When it comes down to it, I think he didn't want to play second banana on the show, and he wanted to see how funny and successful he could be on his own. And if that's the reason, no problem with that. But he seems to not be up front with stuff.
stavvy just wanted to be to of the bill for a change, strange he won't just come out and say it but no doubt there' were some crazy dynamics at work on cumtown....i mean 3 gay showbizzy boys all fighting and sweating for attention, couped up week after week after week, wouldn't surprise me if one or two of em caught some real nancy feelings along the road...i mean it was the gayest podcast in history
nah it seems like you guys just want more cumtown and also don't like sharing "your" comedians with a larger audience. Dude literally said "do I want to be the cumtown guy?" In this video, said like 1000 times he wanted to focus on standup and spent like the last year or so saying he didn't like doing cumtown, seems pretty upfront to me
I don’t understand how progressing your career is selling out. Just because he went the more mainstream comedian route. Like he said he didn’t wanna be 40yrs old and still be the cum town guy
it's kind of impossible for stavros to sell out. he's made it quite clear that he's all about eating hella food and getting pussy.. so anything that he does in the pursuit of those two things is very much in line with his roots.
There must be something wrong with me to think 30 is no big deal, especially when doing something you/others love and succeed at it. I get his other reasoning though

No it kinda works actually: most people saying being a comedian is easy would rather keep their 9 to 5 jobs than ever attempting stepping on a stage and telling jokes, because most people don't have a tenth of what it takes to be even a mediocre stand up comic. Almost every job is easier and better paid than being a comedian, it's only really fringe cases where you blow up when it becomes substainable and easy, but it almost always comes after years of making pennies.
Reason given: Wanted to do stand up more. Reality: I was embarrassed of the name of the show, the jokes told amongst close friends, felt old and professionally unaccomplished. So I made new fake friends, couch surfed on every podcast that would have me, and did crowd work for a year and a half.
@@harrybirchall3308 it has nothing to do with him leaving. I actually am happy he's gone. His "stand up" is practically all preloaded crowd work. His laugh is annoying as hell when he's just laughing at his own material. At least when he was laughing on the pod we were laughing with him about whatever Nick was doing. Speaking of Nick, Stav acts like he owes nothing to him when he's the only reason anyone knows who Stav is.
Stav thinks he’s funnier than he really is! Nick was cumtown and Stav just added the fuel for Nick to go off. Plus nick was right about Stav eating himself to death...
Two bros who left their other bros behind just broing it out. Kind of beautiful. Stavros gets his moment in the sun. Nick proved he and Adam are geniuses even without Stavros. Gringo Poppi deals with suicidal ideation now, but otherwise it really worked out for the best.

Stav is the number one advocate for saying he's gonna do something seriously but also being kind of ironic so when he inevitably doesn't do it he can say it was a joke. Even though he genuinely gets upset with people when they tell him he never does what he says he's gonna do.

Im sick to death of comedians equating joining the Rogan-sphere with "making it", or "blowing up". I get that artists, and people in general like money, but Cumtown was literally just funny for the sake of it, and that was why we loved it. I know Im waxing poetic about impression-based comedy, and gay song parodies, but there was something genuinely beautiful about it at it's peak.
Its pretty fair to say at this point that Rogan's goon squad isn't funny and they can barely be considered comedians anymore. Does anyone watch Rogan because they think the JRE is genuinely funny? Its just background noise
@@buckyhurdle4776 was it ever meant to be funny? Joe Rogan is a comedian sure but he generally shuts it down right away when someone tries to do a bit on his show
Yes, I hate that Stav left Cumtown and some of the best episodes were Nick and Stav as a nice change of pace. I just wish Stav would've strayed from the Rogan sphere. Its just not funny IMO and everyone is just trying to get Stav to become the next piece in that. The fact Bert can sell out stadiums is by far a perfect indication at where comedy is. I'm an idiot and I have no shirt....WOW the next Richard Pryor. I'm genuinely not excited about comedy at this moment. How many times do I have to hear a trans joke and then someone saying that its dumb? They go on and on about all this PC shit and that's all their special is about.
Nick said the show was stale and they wanted to end it anyway at the end of the year and stav wanted to take a break and Nick said just bounce now. I think stav says it a little less direct as not to disrespect anyone involved.
I felt similarly after Opie & Anthony ended. It was like "how can we fix this to get it back to what it was?" It didn't happen and I don't expect Nick and Stav to get back together either. Stav has blown the fuck up. But he clearly didn't/doesn't want to be affiliated with "Cumtown" and part of a show where he's clearly being comedically dwarfed by Nick. Stav only really started to pop when he put in effort and hired a social media team last year to push his stuff online. His special came out on TH-cam and it was decent compared to the sea of bad stand-up out there nowadays. For years he was basically tethered to Nick. His laugh is contagious, his energy is fun and relaxed, his look is unique, and he's pretty good at stand-up. I'm just disappointed with how it all ended and how there's obviously some bad blood between Nick and Stav that they refuse to talk about. Plus, I did resent how Stav phoned it in and didn't try to pivot Cumtown into something different so that it didn't need to end. TAFS isn't very funny and it's too low energy. Stav's show seems like every other mediocre LA style comedy podcast out there nowadays because he clearly just wants to be famous even if it isn't unique or authentic. Nick needs a good support player to help steer him. Stav is a good support player but not a convincing show runner.
I’m sorry, but there is nothing any podcaster can say that will make me feel bad for their workload. When you’re making hundreds of thousands of dollars per year to talk into a mic with your friends for a few hours every week, you’ve got it fcking made and have no room to complain at all. You’re living life on full easy mode.
“It’s nice to just be the only one who has to schedule anything”… righto Fatty, Nic did everything for C Town. I’d love a list of things you organised/ schedules besides getting things to eat
The truth is Stav was wanting to boost his career. Nothing wrong with that. Personally I thought Nick's "Year of the Dragon" was funnier than Stav's standup but that's just me
Cumtown is one of the only pieces of media I can listen to that has references to 2016 and not find boring. Nicks amazing Ad Lib and impressions was brought out fully by Stavs ability to riff and fuel Nick. I understand wanting your own legacy but bro, y’all could’ve been kings.
He "worked" for roughly two hours a week telling dick jokes with his friends making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. How do you get burnt out of that? I think he just doesn't want to acknowledge that he made a bad decision.
He wants to be famous and more mainstream palatable. Cumtown may be the funniest podcast of all time but it's definitely not appealing to a mainstream audience nowadays. It's everything that woke twitter and the progressive left hates in comedy. Stav wants to be a star and he couldn't do it while on a show based on crude, lowbrow, politically incorrect gay jokes. Plus, he couldn't show off his comedic ability when he was second mic (and basically a laugh track) to the funniest comedian in broadcasting. He'd never be able to keep up with Nick. He also couldn't stand the Cumtown fans by the end. He wanted a broader, sexier, more normal demographic than just 18-35 year old white dudes who like gay sex jokes. No matter what Stav says, remember this: the problem was NEVER the "work" involved. It was the promise of more money and being the star rather than the second mic. He wants fame and pussy. He'll never openly admit it, but it's obvious that he decided to leave Cumtown asap after his special so he could strike while the iron was hot. He claims he doesn't like doing those jokes anymore? That's bullshit. Comedians have done plenty of vulgar, politically incorrect, edgy jokes deep into their careers and made serious bank. Watch his stand-up and crowd work. It's filled with the same style of humor. He just avoids making as many race, trans, women bashing, and yes...even gay jokes. Nothing he claims about why he left Cumtown holds up.
Everyone could tell right from the start that "tired of podcasting" wasn't the real reason. It's as if Cobain hadn't killed himself and Grohl wanted to be a star on his own but couldn't do it in Nirvana because he'd always be overshadowed by Cobain's talent. Instead, he starts an okay band called Foo Fighters and does well because most of the competition isn't very good. Grohl does well, but he'll never be what Cobain was. He owes his entire career to him. Grohl never would've been able to shine on his own if Cobain hadn't died and Nirvana had stayed together. Same goes for Stav and Nick.
Muscle develops under fat, some of that is to be expected when making gains. (Yeah, he probably isn't hitting a caloric deficit though 😂) Hopefully he sticks with it, the worst thing you can do is be obese and not AT LEAST lift weights. Lol
What sucks is trying to listen to ANY podcast after Cumtown. CT felt raw and fun. Those 3 complimented each other in ways they probably wouldnt like to acknowledge. It’s like the autism puzzle piece finding its spot
Yeah and what? I'm a big cumboi but don't see why so many fans need to get so clingy. If someone who gave me hours and hours of entertainment wants to try a different lane, then good for him. There's still so many hours of Cum Town in the archive that I'll never get tired of. Stav is a good guy and only a malformed, emotionally retarded weirdo would begrudge him doing something fresh if it makes him happy.
I appreciate he wanted to work on his career but I think he knew trying to do both would be unfair to Nick and Adam. They both put a lot of work into TAFS that I doubt Stavros would have had the time or motivation to do.
Stav’s most useful skill, the only thing that warranted him a place on cum town, was his ability to give nick riff fuel. I think he really does understand the spiritual essence of nick’s style of comedy and combined with a personal rapport he’s able to get good content out of nick and often enhance it. You don’t get much closer to living in someone’s shadow than that. $300k a year is a lot but I can understand how unfulfilling and boring that could be for him. His stand up sucks though and I don’t think he’s proven himself to really be a good comic in ways nick has. Time will tell. As he drifts farther from the CumVerse and seeps deeper into the normie world of TH-camShorts-baiting crowdwork, he’ll eventually reach a point where he’s so far removed from cum town and so entrenched in this normieverse that he’ll become susceptible to cancellation because his old fan base, who wouldn’t care about his crudeness, has been entirely displaced and supplanted by new kids.
He is a decent comedian, especially compared to the riff raff scum around now. That said you are right that he really did play of Nick really well and that dynamic created cum town. Still I have great faith in our hero ,cool Adam, the show is great...... podcast is dog shit
Lmao you think he's not a good stand up? Is that why his clips are doing so well and the new pod? Nick Mullen can be funny but he barely puts anything out and he's such a bitter asshole
The "Michael Balls Penis" bit and the "Who Wants To Cum with Regis" bit were made better by how hard Stav was laughing at them. Just Nick alone saying those things would be funny as fuck, but Stav added something weird and special to it.
Stavy to cumtown was the Ben Avery to Tim dillon. Neither show can exist without them. Their uncontrolled laughter was the fuel for nick and Tim’s rants.
“Am I gonna be the guy clearing 20 grand a month by laughing at my friends jokes when I’m 40?” Yes. You should be. You had a good thing. It was a good show. It reminded people of the lunch table with their boys. It isn’t something to be ashamed of because you hung out with Hassan once
You can't have it both ways: you guys can't say he's completely sold out to normies (i.e. a completely different audience) and then say he owes all his success implicitly to you as an audience member of cum town. Don't be lame. Be happy if Stav is happy. There's still hours and hours of Cumtown that I will never get tired of.

LOL Stav saying that he needs to take the summer off because “working too hard and too much” is the foremost threat to his life and what hes worried about killing him 😭
I think that's the point. If he doesn't take time off, he can't focus on exercise/diet.
If Im coming up on my university finals I can think that Im going to need nicotine more than ever right about now , or I can look at it like I’m going to need to be focused and free of vices more than ever right now and university itself has no real role in my addiction or my decision.
True. Though he kinda said it, and said it on the show so many times. He just needed to come outright and say, it had gotten really bad.
stavvy just wanted to be to of the bill for a change, strange he won't just come out and say it but no doubt there' were some crazy dynamics at work on cumtown....i mean 3 gay showbizzy boys all fighting and sweating for attention, couped up week after week after week, wouldn't surprise me if one or two of em caught some real nancy feelings along the road...i mean it was the gayest podcast in history

No it kinda works actually: most people saying being a comedian is easy would rather keep their 9 to 5 jobs than ever attempting stepping on a stage and telling jokes, because most people don't have a tenth of what it takes to be even a mediocre stand up comic.
Stav wouldn’t be shit without Nick

Instead, he starts an okay band called Foo Fighters and does well because most of the competition isn't very good. Grohl does well, but he'll never be what Cobain was.
