Adding more games to a C64 Mini can be difficult for some to master. I did struggle to begin with, so thats why I have made this Video to help you out.
I have tried to keep the Video short and I hope it helps you out.

Morgan Just Games that’s ok please keep us updated. By the way I’m using your system on my C64 maxi, not mini. I noticed you said not to put the whole folder onto the USB so I tried both with and without. With, it tells you the name of each game whereas without, it just says THE64....

Morgan Just Games I went to the website you mentioned with all the C64 games on it and I downloaded 550 games but only 240 show up on the C64 console. Would you know why, or is there a limit of games it can retrieve from the USB.

Oh my... First of all: great video! I grew up with a C64 but now many people are introduced first time to the computer with TheC64 Mini. Very good. I learned what I know by talking to friends and reading magazines. These days you learn it all from TH-cam. Now, the save states on the Mini... I guess you know more about them than me. But I thought I'd let you and your fans know about disks. A d64 file is a virtual diskside. 130 kilobytes are waiting to be filled with data. Games. Now, you loaded up Cauldron 2 by typing LOAD"*",8,1. The star * is a wildcard, meaning in this case you load up the first file on the disk. If you type LOAD"$",8 you load up the directory on the disk. Type LIST to show it. You will se that Cauldron 2 only takes up a portion of the disk and there is room for more. I recommend getting a program for your pc called Directory Master, or something. It let you edit d64's. Most games from c64db.de (or where you find them) are d64's containing a single file. Hope this makes any sense. Happy computing. :)

@@MorganJustGames Aw, you know, it's like those times are back. In a way, you know. New games are released, the same with hardware. New computers even. The Mini is supposwd to pave the way of a full scale C64 from the same team. And then there's the Mega65 that will give us the C65 we never got to buy. So, I truly believe the Mini is not for me. Yeah, I gettimg old and still toying around my C64's and peripherals. But new fans needs guidance and your videos are very informative. Keep it up.
You did a brillant job with that Video - but i have to say, that the c64 mini makes it SOOO Hard to add new Games...that really sucks. Compared to the Nintendo Mini Series it's a pain in the ass.

schroff gezockt - Thank you very much for your comment. It's not easy. It took me a long time to figure it out, which was the reason why I decided to make a Video of it. Wanted to make it as simple to follow as possible.
schroff gezockt - I have got both the Cauldron 2 Games on Cassette but it really doesn't play well with the C64 Mini Joystick.

What a brilliant video Jamie, very easy to understand compared to others I’ve watched , this was the only thing putting me off getting one but I’m going for it now.
I struggled at first. Took me a very long time. The only thing that's not great is the Joystick.
Does it really feel like an old C64 or is it the typical sad emulator experience where all you get is the brief joy of seeing your pixelated old friends and hearing the synthy tunes that accompanied your childhood dreams ?
Sorry Martin for not responding sooner. I really like the system and its so like the original. The only problem is the horrible Joysticks.

its great that you can play any game you can download now on the mini. Makes it all worth while and a gretat purchase. Love Flimbo's Quest 4 in 1 cart version. OHHHHHHH. thats the old way.

what do you do to load multiple games that you put on the stick? load"$",8 ? then list? i downloaded SUPERSTAR ICE HOCKEY and i cant use the joystick , could you help?
There has been a few Firmware updates. If you look at the Pinned Comment. It should take you to the Firmware Update procedure. This Update allows you to add multiple to one USB Stick. I also added the Link at the end of the Video.

Can you put more games on the Usb stick and how to load a specific game then ? Great video !
The firmware video at the end of this one will tell you how to do the firmware update, and that update allows you to add more games at once.
Any idea if I can use cheat codes once I've downloaded games? Got Robocop which I used to love but only seem to get one life
Well alot of the games will have cracked screens, so yes if you allow them, you can use them.
Do you have to do rhe C64 basic thing for every game? If I download a few games into the console can I download them all at once?
Nope. This is an older way of doing it now. If you do the Firmware Updates, you can simply add multiple Games to one USB Stick. You can use the Carousel or the Basic. In the Carousel, the USB Symbol will appear, just click there and your Games will feature.

so you cannot change disks if tha game needs to insert other, and no real keyboard ;(
There have been many updates since this one. The Maxi has a Fully Working Keyboard. Firmware Updates allow Multiple Sides.
One game i have a problem with is Flimbo quest . The game menu shows up but the game wont start and i pressed every button.
You no longer need to add Games this way. Just do the Firmware Update and your good to go. Let me know if your still having issues with the Rom.

Yes there is a new Update been put into place since I made this Video. I haven't tried it yet though.

Well this is very old way of doing it now. If you do the Firmware updates then its alot simpler. No need to rename em.

Do you always rename the file with the same name? If so how do you get multiple games on a USB?
New Firmware updates allow for multiple adds on a single USB. You no longer need to do it this way.

- Can I put multiple games on the USB for use? (guess not)
- If not, does C64 Mini saves my game permanently (guess not)
I am yet to buy this and I am alredy thinking about downloading a dozen games which are not on the official list, but were my childhood favorites. Last Ninja for example.
Benjámin Kurilla - I think you can only have one on the USB each time as you have to rename it. If you have multiple on a USB, you won't be able to make them all the same name. The best way is to add one at a time. Once you have the game on your Console, you can save it. You can save a maximum of four games.

Hey, so I bought this :) My problem is that I bought a 2nd joystick to play with my brother. But while playing together the two joysticks are opposing and messing up each other . So we accidently cause the deaths ofeach other in any game. (for example Wizard of Wor) Any idea on a fix?

At my C64 mini if I'm trying to load the file I become "?File not found error". I don't know why. I formated my USB to FAT32 then named the downloaded file to "THEC64-drive8.d64". But I become this error. Can anyone help please?!
To be honest with you, it has happened to me before. I did everything right but it didn't work. I reformatted it and tried again and it worked. Some games have more than one copy of each game. If it still happens, try getting a different version of the game your looking for. If there isn't another one, just Serch for d64 c64 games on Google.
Are you typing in LOAD"*",8,1 in the C64 Basic?
Great vid it helped a lot thank you. But what do you do when the folder contains 2 files? I'm trying to get the game"Myth" to work, tested all 5 downloads and non of them worked cos most of them contain 2 files i only get the startup of the game or in the other case i start in the last level and die .

I cant update the firnware. I format the usb stik fat32, copy firmware file to usb stik. The C64MINI says "No New firmware found" or something like that

That is odd, however if you check my playlist, there is a Video I've done to get the Firmware update. If you do that, you won't need to do the renaming part of it which takes you into Notepad.

It works on European Version and I assume American Version too. I am not 100 percent sure though. Have you got one or you looking to get one? There has been a Firmware Update since I made this Video. Adding Games is alot easier now. The Video is on my Channel aswell.

What Game did you try? Some games are a bit dodgy, so you might need to try other versions. Also there has been an update now which should be available to you. Video on my Channel of how to do it. Same playlist as this one. You won't need to do this after that as you can then put multiple games on one stick.

There was an update at the very start. I think it was the first ever one. You may need to do that first if you haven't done any updates yet. The latest update, you don't have to do before adding games. The newest update allows you to add multiple games on one usb. I have another Video on my Channel on how to add the firmware update. It's in my Playlist as C64 Mini Updates. It's weird though that you cannot add games, as you should be able to. Are you formatting the UBS with Fat32 before adding games to it? If it doesn't work, reformat the card again and try adding a different file of the game.
I am hearing critics say something about joystick latency?
I haven't had any issues with Lagging. Its very responsive in my opinion.

If you do the latest Firmware updates, you can put multiple on one USB Stick and you won't need to run this command anymore. Much better way. If you go to The C64 Website, it's there
