Hey Holly, I'm an aspiring tattoo artist working towards my apprenticeship, and you've really inspired me to actually take the time on my sketchbook portfolio and my work in general and to push my comfort zone. I've actually been reworking some of my tattoo designs and trying to do styles that vary from my own. I'm getting there slowly.

So I have a question about how can I turn a line work sketch draw to a full shade or colours tattoo? Should I do the full draw with color pencil or shade it with my pencils and after do a sketch line work for the stencil? Or just do a line work draw with ink markers as you do and freestyle the shades with a reference pic?. @holly astral how do you know or remember what colors to use in your pallete by head ? I see you make a sketch with only lines and shades, but how did you get to the point of being intuitive with colors, are there any tricks or tips in how to train myself ? atm i always sketch but then i spend at least an hour or 2 extra in coloring it in, thanks in advance
Hi Holly! I have a question for you (and for everybody else who reads this and knows more about it). I've asked a couple of artists I know this question, and I'd love to hear your opinion on this topic! What would help more when working on sketches/a portfolio and ultimately (hopefully) finding an apprenticeship: developing your own style and using that to build your portfolio? Or practice drawing a bunch of different styles, even though you might suck at some of them, to add some diversity to your portfolio? Right now I'm trying to do a bit of everything, but I feel like that kind of stops me from finding my own style.
I think all portfolios benefit from some diversity. When you start out as a tattoo artist you generally have to tattoo anything your master hands you, a lot of that wont be "your style", but if you use some propper references you kan make any subject or style work in you favor, and you can give it a bit of your own style.
About the previous comment you are a great tattoo artist I just tell it as I see it it happening all over ther is not to many tattoo shops left a tattoo shop is like classic tattoos in the USA Tim Hendricks that is a tattoo shop that is why I say this is not a tattoo shop you are to nice to have a tattoo shop tattoo shops are shady you are not shady so I would call it a tattoo boutique not a tattoo shop a tattoo shop is like mark mahoney says is we’re the elite and the underworld meet

I like using red or blue personally because the colored pencil doesnt smudge like graphite will. There’s also the advantage of it not showing up when scanned
I really want to get tattooed by you because I love your personality and I feel like I would be really comfortable being tattooed by you. I have hundreds of ideas but I've never had the courage to get any tattoos at all because I'm very socially anxious and not that I'm judgemental but heavily modified men can often come across as quite mean and scary. Even though I know a few and they're all pussy cats but the idea of going into a tattoo shop with my girly clothes and having no tattoos of my own really scares me. I feel like I stick out in that atmosphere! I'm very much into black and white tattoos on myself though and although I love your colourful designs they're not really "me" do you do black and grey stuff as well?
It’s a beautifull tattoo studio but it’s not a tattoo shop it’s lost the mystic of a tattoo shop a tattoo shop is a place we’re you go to get a tattoo traditional walk in and you don’t do a consultation It’s like a flower shop if you want flowers this is were you go what is happening to the tattoo world it’s finished I’d be scared to go in ther so no offence you are a nice lady but this is not a tattoo shop it’s a studio

the red and blue ones are prismacolours (i think). i find they're less messy than regular pencils and feel smooth to use

You can literally walk into any tattoo shop and ask to book an appointment for simple text
