First Nascar entered the 24 hour of Le mans. There car was a fan favorite and gave them big recognition. Now nascar just raced in the streets of people who arent nascar fans watching. And they just witnessed history with Shanes win. Not only that but people in New Zealand and Australia will see that nascar can actually be a fun sport to watch. Nascar is making the right moves to grow not just in America, but worldwide as well.

As a race fan that doesn’t watch NASCAR I enjoyed the racing once they got passed some of the issues early on with cars going into walls every 6 turns or so. If the weather was good and the whole race was like the end I would consider watching it more. The issue I have is I never enjoy watching ovals even with Indy car I skip all those races and that is most of what NASCAR is. Not saying they change their series for the outsiders. But I know I am not alone in that feeling and would be hard to overcome.

Just need to get rid of the "stages", stop going to ads every chance they can, and have the commentators know what's going on, there were a few points in the race where there were major position changes and it all happened while at an ad break, and nothing was mentioned about it.
Other than that, it was a pretty good race! More streets! And bring them down to Australia!

@@IcyTamagotchiIt’s not as much about tires as it is knowledge on street courses. NASCAR drivers know how to manage tires, especially the elite. He said in his post race that the reason he’s so fast is because the nascar regulars were leaving extra track real estate on the back end of the course. They weren’t as close to the wall as he was in the tighter areas. That’s all due to inexperience on this type of course. Only 3 NASCAR regulars have ever done a street race.

He got put 17th sure, on fresh ass tires. That’s how it works when you pit, you lose position. I’m pretty convinced 1/4 who entered the pit were tipped off that the race would be cut short, there was no other reason for those cars to go in and get fresh tires. If bell or Reddick wouldn’t have drove into the wall this race more than likely would have ended differently. Bell was outpacing Gisbergen by 2 seconds or more the entire race. I would have loved to see the guys with the freshest tires who were all running the fastest all day battle it out in the end. Unfortunately we had to end up with Haley Vs. Gisenberg and Haley’s tires were going on 40+ laps whereas Gisbergen’s were in the 20’s. Not hard to make it look easy taking down half the pack when everyone is fighting for grip and you’re able to push the car hard. Not to mention he gained 7 positions in a single corner with the pileup and 4 more positions from wrecks. 18 to go on a restart he only had 7 people in front of him and all those people were on worn rubber. All he had to do was keep pace and go for 1 move in position every 2 laps. The late restarts also helped him.

He has way more wet weather knowledge and this clearly showed in his ability to overtake in places the other guys had no idea were possible. Remember also that he has very little oval experience which makes up like 90% of the NASCAR calendar. Great Job Shane and it was so awesome to see your race through the grid from 18th.

That's cool to see Shawn Van Gisbergen win the NASCAR Cup Series 2023 Chicago Street race and being in his race car at the same time too.

A well-deserved victory! Any of the regular drivers would have been pressured to move out of the way for Elliott, but SVG is not beholden to NASCAR's intimidations. This win feels differently because it was legit.

If no cautions might have been massive victory. But still I'd rather race finish like this one did. Awesome battling in crazy conditions. Every driver rips. Avagud1

SVG should honestly deserve a full time cup ride he’s legit ready anyways it is funny that I’m living in a world where two Hendrick Cars are at risk of Missing the Playoffs

What a shame the front camera shat itself halfway through. But what a drive, I synched this video to the actual race coverage.
