thanks for showing the necessity of testing different ammos of different types. I saw a review of this rifle yesterday where the shooter was only using target ammo, target ammo is great in a rifle with a target chamber but some rifles (like his) just don't shoot it well. he then changed the trigger (not a big difference from the bench unless its an awful trigger) and a barrel weight. when he should have tried different types, weights and brands of ammo. I couldn't tell if you were doing it and this is your first video of this type I have watched, but it is very important to condition the barrel for each new ammo, I do this by shooting the first 5 rounds into the berm, and then shooting for group with two or three additional groups, (20 shots total) I find the first group after changing the ammo is often twice the size of following groups and often it takes to the second group (shots 10-15 to really settle in) thanks for the your research and time with us.
Thanks! I’ve shot this rifle a ton at this point and it doesn’t make a bit of difference if you condition the barrel. It’s always bad.
It is a lead suppository and yes it is very glad to see you!
Mine likes the SK yellow box. Action torqued at 19 foot pounds. It will put 30 rounds in a dime at 50 yards.
Wow 3rd video review on New Springfield 2020 ..
Back to Engineering Board Springfield Arms..
Springfield still has mine. It’s been just over a month :(
I was really hoping to see better accuracy, especially with 3 shot groups. I guess I will scratch this one off the list, i now have it narrowed down to Bergara BMR or CZ 457.
I got my eyes on a cz. I don’t think you can go wrong from what I’ve seen
Dude! When I saw your ammo selection, I thought, this guy has to be from SW Ohio because that’s everything available to me. Appears I was spot on! 😂 Anyway, I have the same exact 2020. I found that the 16:1 twist, same as Henry’s like 40gr the best. That being said, CCI mini mag rn as well as Augilla super ex 40 performed best for me. I’m using the Bushnell 4-9 RF scope and consistently cracking eggs at 100 with CCI 40gr mini’s. Awesome coverage and now subbed!
Thank you! I'm gonna try again with different sub sonics. Do you find your 2020 a bit inconsistent at all? Even with the same ammo, it can group very different.
Good question on grouping and I must say yes, I’ve had the same experience. However, that was with no cleaning between different brands, weights etc. My next step is to use CCI mini mag 40 gr rn exclusively since it performed best. Seems to be a well made rifle and I believe it has a lot of potential. Jury’s still out.
I agree with JoshJamesguitar, I shot some of the SSS aguila in my Ruger 10/22 with a Tacsol barrel 1-16 twist it shot horrible, put a .22 conversion kit in my AR with a 1-7 twist it was super accurate out to 50yds
Im gonna have to try it in my 22 ar conversion. Mine is horribly unreliable though
There aren't any reviews where this rifle shoots worth a biscuit at 50y. Real shame because it certainly looks good.
I own one, and I have to tell you, it shoots amazing. Maybe I just got lucky with mine. I absolutely love it, though
@@MrZachxd Mine does fine too. Regularly under 1" groups with 40gr supers. Usually worse with subs for some reason. It doesn't compete with my CZ MTR, but it does fine otherwise. No feeding or reliability issues. Aguila 40gr HV groups well out of mine. Got a few groups of 0.65" with the Aguila.
@fishcars8078 Mine does great with subs! I'm just using .40 grain Norma subsonic, and they do great! I fear the problem is consistency between them. It's not like CZ where you know they all shoot amazing, and with the 2020 if you get one built on a Friday afternoon it might not shoot as good as one built on a Wednesday morning. 🤣
Guess you have not heard of the Cz barrel lottery. Not all shoot lights out.
can be variations in any product. If most shoot well as opposed to badly you can buy with more confidence.@@belt1974123
Interesting. Not surprised about SK or Blazer. For cheap garbage Blazer is pretty good in part due to velocity. It falls apart after 50 yards though. Same with Mini Mags. Really was hoping to see 5 shot groups. Josh (Pursuit of Accuracy) also had extraction issues. Did you buy this one or get sent by Springfield? All the reviews of rifles that were sent out to shooters are obviously GREAT. lol. But the people who spent their own money, do have issues.
I bought the rifle. I've been shooting it a lot, and I'm no longer having extraction issues, but the accuracy is not living up to the hype. The honeymoon period is over, and I'm planning another video talking about it
Sick video! Mine is coming in 1 week maybe less. Price matched it from 429 to 379
Nice! You'll love it! Its not the most accurate but for the money its a blast!
@@DirtbagOutdoors for the money it should be accurate. I will test it out good. If it’s 1/2” at 50yrds I will be happy. You definitely need a better scope if you are doing tight groups. I’m only interested in 710fps subs so we will have to see. Even a 1” group with cci subs is great for me
@@twiztid83222 i got.the .15 inch at 50 with 6 power. I am going to try multiple brands of subs as well to see how they work
@@DirtbagOutdoors my 3 cci and winchester subs did not give a great grouping. .75-1” at 30yrds. 3” -4”grouping at 60yrds
@@twiztid83222 oh man. It should be shooting way better than that. How did non subs go?
the SSS aguila needs a faster twist than standard .22lr rifles have. Some guys run a 1:7 twist vs the standard 1:16
Like to see a video of shooters using several loads from Lapua and Eley
I want to. No one locally carries it. I hate to pay $25 shipping for a box of 22 🤣
Lapua CenterX best of three lots tried 10 5 shot groups at 50 yards 3 groups.5-.6 3 groups 1-1.3 inch and 4 groups .75-.85 average out to .8 inch grouping rifle. Eley Match and Eley Tenex 10 shot groups at 50 y Match .88 and 1.1 inch groups and Tenex 1.1 and 1.2 inch groups. Wont reliably feed out of Ruger mags.
@@couespursuit7350 looks like I would be wasting my money on one. My stock Tikka T1x 22lr will group under 1/2 inch at 50 yards with several loads from several manufacturers
Very frustrating ,you have all the pistol TH-camrs praising the Springfield echelon , but the Springfield 2020 is bad ?
I’m not sure if you mentioned the trigger is adjustable. How many pds is the lowest setting? It’s the front screw
4 pounds is the lowest recommended.
@@DirtbagOutdoors 😞 why even call it adjustable at that point? Hopefully I can get a cheap trigger that will do less
@twiztid83222 they say remington 700 triggers work. So i bought a timney 2 stage. It does not fit at all. Maybe internal springs from a 700 work, but not complete trigger packs
@@DirtbagOutdoors that’s hilarious because 5 reviews and many Springfield videos said it took 700 triggers 😂
@twiztid83222 i know. They arent. Not even close. They should really specify that the trigger packs do not work. I was super bummed
Garbage rifle and thanks for the honest review
.3 inch groups at 50 yards is garbage? Im gonna buy 2 of these Springfields so they keep making rimfires
Mannn, shouldnt be doing accuracy tests without acclimating the barrel to the new rounds.... literally just swapping from this round to that round.... all groups will be shit.
Ive shot this rifle well over 1000 rounds already. Its been pretty consistent in shooting the same as the video no matter the ammo or barrel heat. The barrel doesnt even get hot
Acclimating a 22 isn't the same as heat or barrel break in, I thought so also! Every 22 rimfire bullet uses a different lube, it takes about 20 shots of same bullet before testing, then EVERY time you change bullet brands or or grains afterwards...I know sounds dumb....but works on rimfire....great video!
This video confirms what I have seen on all other videos on this rifle, this rifle is junk.
Looks like this guy doesnt like this rifle.
Too bad, because most owners of it are very pleased with it.
Most owners aren't looking to spend time and money looking to get 1/4 m.o.a. at 100 yards.
They just want a rifle to take varmints, and small game reliably and effectively at modest ranges.
This rifle satisfies those requirements admirably, at a cost affordable to many.
I appreciate you clicking on my videos to leave comments! However, i don’t consider shotgun pattern groups at 50 yards good for taking varmints. I’m glad you got a good one.
After all the videos I have seen this gun is trash specially for the price
That was a huge waste of time. Wrong scope for target work and that is on you. If you are not prepared, then wait. Three shot groups are not enough rounds to do a real comparison. Also you need to fire a few rounds between groups. As I said, all in all, a waste of time.
Oh contrar, my friend. I have proof that “seasoning” your barrel doesn’t do shit. This rifle sucks and most people know it. Every video I’ve done on this thing shows it sucks. Doesn’t matter the ammo, scope, rest, or shooter.
