    It's crazy how kites can look like they are totally lost, then they flip around a bit and relaunch themselves. Good lesson to see how you can still ride back even when your lines are a disaster

      @teoflis3182  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Absolutely! Kites can be surprisingly resilient, thanks to people working on development…
      Every session is a learning experience in the unpredictability of the wind 🤙🏼

      Just so you know, you can even get back without lines, it's called self rescue. I had to do once at Brouwersdam. Only condition: only possible with air pumped kites

    Oh come on you are just gonna scare people from kiting. That kind of stuff happen quite regularly when you ride waves. Its normal and part of the learning curve to become proeficient in waves conditions
    This video should just have been called : another normal day kiting in the waves, and if this makes you feel like you almost died, then its a clear indicatir that you should spend more time with your kite before you go out again in the waves . You need to be able to deal with the waves stuff if you wana ride waves. Wich you did well in your video by the way.. but calling it horror mean that you were pushing bear the edge of your experience

    First, try to keep your board or try to quickly get your board back

    You did the most important thing which is to stay calm.
    With no disrespect intended, but I see 8M lying on the ground when you were on land and judging from the way you were struggling to walk backwards it must have been quite strong wind that day. You don't look like a super experienced kiter from this video, but maybe better to stay out of those waves for the time being until you are more comfortable with kite control etc.
    It looks like you had a pretty big flat water area where those guys were jumping, maybe first spend more time there just mastering your kite control, then move onto transitions with loops, so you also know what it feels like to go fast downwind on a jibe with downloop. After all of that I would move to the waves section only, even though those waves were not too big.
    The first time I went into proper waves was on a 25+ kt day in Scheveningen in the Netherlands, but after many MANY sessions on flat water first. If this is your only spot to kite at that's fine, but like I said I would spend more time mastering the kite in the flat section. I always keep in mind what my first instructor told me, kitesurfing is 90% kite control and 10% board control.

      You can have enough experience but going out in stronger winds will make you a bit more nervous and prone to often small mistakes that add up. But If you are confident in more normal conditions and you never go out in higher winds you will never master it. It is uncomfortable in the start. I think he handled it well and he got more experience 😊

  • @MyAnno1404
    @MyAnno1404 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    While it worked here i recommend to eject and then use the kite as a wing for self rescue. Its a safe way to avoid lines from snapping or some death loop in the waves or other weird things that could happen

    • @justinsmith4562
      @justinsmith4562 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No need to self-rescue if you can fly the kite back. Self-rescue is a last resort.

    • @MyAnno1404
      @MyAnno1404 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@justinsmith4562 Sure, but how sure are you that you can fly the kite back? Maybe its starting a death loop when you relaunch and a wave comes and tangles the lines around your harness. Or the kite explodes into pieces - it happend to me, its a thing. Believe me a good self rescue is far safer and can be done quickly. If you are far out a fail can be really dangerous

    Hello friend and thank you for sharing.
    That was a really sketchy situation and if it wasn't for your friends kiters giving you a helping hand this could've been much harder.
    I love kitesurfing community, they're just a different kind of people all together, always willing to help in any situation.
    Be careful out there and stay safe.
    Which part of Italy is that? seems to offer a variety of different learning areas for different disciplines.

    Not really a kitemare... Kite was operating fine. You should practice your Relaunch more, if you had better control the kite would not get eaten by the waves.
