    how does England and Wales keep so many / such documents from 1301 .... and they survived TWO world wars.... so much MORE than AMAZING !

      The English, Welsh and Scots have been through far more than Two Wars. Since the Norman Invasion in 1066 there's been about 20 wars including peasant revolts, Barons revolts, a full-blown Civil War.
      That is not including the Wars Britain was involved in outside the UK.

    There should be a way to put different resolutions or filters on that geofiz picture to bring out features.

    • @christianbuczko1481
      @christianbuczko1481 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really with that technology. Its quite basic in how it works being resistivity measured between 2 points and gives a number. The radar scans can do better with that able to measure depth as well but resolution is quite low so has errors which blur things and different matarials sometimes giving similar results and therefore details can be missed. Technology has vastly improved since the series 1st started in 1994 as well when they took 3 days to scan 1 cathedral sized building, and slow computers to analyze it in the back of a car and dot matrix printer to produce the final result on day 3 finally. In the next few years they could produce that in a few hours, and now can get far better..

      In the meantime they have improved on it

      You have to remember these episodes are quite old and technological advances since then have been remarkable.

    i will never understand how ancient sites and monuments are forgotten and eventually end up under the ground, while other famous ancient places stay at ground level millennia after millennia. how do the floor levels of these ancient buildings end up 2 feet below the surface, whether its in a huge city where all sorts of work has been done or whether its in a field out in the absolute middle of nowhere how do these places become submerged in soil when other places dont.

    I hate the fact that we are continuously slapped in the face with the things we are not getting to see because we do not have the money to PAY your Patreon fees. I was an amateur archaeologist in the UK for more than 20 years and volunteered on a number of sights so archaeology is in my blood, but now I'm unemployed and rolling up to retirement age I am missing out on so much

      Everything on Patreon stays up, as far as I can see. If one month you find you can spare enough for a month's membership, you can access and catch up on everything unlocked by whichever tier you choose. But if you can't afford to support financially at all, you don't miss out on anything vital - the full 90mins for each new dig are made available to everyone, for free, on TH-cam. A fair amount of material initially posted on Patreon is also made publicly available later, such as Jimmy Adcock's GPR masterclass, the recent Dig Watch, and this evening's video of the Q&A with Helen :)
