12 Oct 2024. But watched these many times they never get old. N I love seeing them all change .age. and all the different clothes..cept for Phil. Always wears the same clothes but I saw a very old one he had full length jeans on..wow. blessings everyone
Absolutely fascinating; wish I could be there to help. Love this program. Addendum: I do wish they had more time to investigate and dig deeper into this site.
Just when I think you've hit an amazing find, you dig up something spectacular, I'm an armchair archaeologist, even though I've properly studied archaeology in college. Fantastic!
I really hope that somebody carried on finding out more about this site (digging and discovering). Three days is not enough and this site should not be lost again.
Another episode with à sympathical crew, happy to search and happer when findings change the old way of seeing things. Most of the time the "etablishement" mok it and forgent it (how many treasures are buried even in museums cause they don't stick to their reality ? (an idea for a next episode ? It would be great). With time team the information come to us. So, Thanks for your work, your Joy and happyness and better understanding you bring to us.
I always follow with great interest the beautiful English documentaries about the history of Roman Britain because they are really accurate even if, every now and then, some new investigation appears on the disappearance of the IX Legio Hispanica and the resistance of Queen Boudicca to the Roman troops. It seems that for some English historians these are two key topics in the history of Roman Britain.
you came up with all those splendid Things not only from the Roman period but also from the iron age make me staggered. thanks a lot for your efforts really appreciated
As a new fan to Time Team, Why is it they always have 3 days? Is that just how the digging permit system works? What happens when they find super important finds? Do they come back later or have other teams come back later? Love this show!
From other episodes I've gleaned that they're very careful not to get into the "guts" of very important sites they discover. They respect the work of the other archeologistss who might want to dig these sites and do their own discoveries and write their papers.
I have never understood how British society just fell apart after the Romans left. You would think that after 400 years of Roman rule the Brits would have flourished! After all, they knew the technology because they did all the work!
Wondering why they didn’t keep the customs of a conquering empire? What’s surprising about that Went back to squabbling over land like the tribes of old
That’s why Mick quit the show. In an interview he said, they dumbed down the show by bringing in new hosts, a pretty blond and a good looking guy. They also got rid of some Great people on the show, Stewart, Carenza, Victor, and more. Mick left the show in 2012, unfortunately Mick passed in June 2013. I highly recommend reading up on Mick Aston, to say he lead an interesting life would be quite the understatement!!
He says what I was thinking all along. It's incredible what they achieved in 3 days. I have to wonder why they were limited to only 3 days. Nevertheless, I'm intrigued and it leaves me wanting more .
to give you perspective. Archaeology is very expensive and for one to happen you have to prove to the foundation that a site is work dging and spending money on. Time team's way of helping is to be the initial archeologists of sites wherein they are unsure whether to pursue or not. basically if TT finds nothing, no harm done as they earn through the show, while if they did find it it gives scientists and foundations opportunity and proof that a place is worth spending more time on.
Ok, this might be a stupid question but do sites like this ever get _completely_ excavated ... dig out the whole 20+ acres, haul away the soil, find and conserve everything? Obviously not in 3 days for an hour long program.
I'm wondering you talk about the digging you're doing as being the last that will be done at this site However with your findings being as brilliant as they are is it unlikely that someone will have a look?
Merry Christmas to the Time Team and Odyssey I'm watching with my eldest daughter Amber and we live all the way down under from Mount Gambier in the State Of South Australian.🥇🇦🇺🦘⚜️👑⚜️🏴🇬🇧
I don't understand that if they find a sight like this that they have to do it in 3days. Does someone else come in and carry on the dig after these guys are gone ????? Because it looks like this could go on for years
It's because they all have regular jobs and they all did Time Team as a side thing. So the show was made to just be 3 days because of that. I'm sure they would all love to dig more than they get to but again they have other jobs and things that they have to do. And yeah usually the sites will be further excavated by others.
Because sometimes something is going to be put there. The show is always for 3 days. They are not keeping anything for themselves. What finds are made goes to a museum.
I love Time Team, but these later episodes were a bit hyper - makes me breathless. And the needless sound-effects and dramatic music don't help either. I guess they were unnecessarily told to make it more exciting (Mick's jumper syndrome).
17:20 Aquitaine... You mean soldiers Asterix & Obelix had bashed out of Gaul, and run away from pirates, over the channel to start a new fort, in safer lands...
Oh man I like Phillipa. Pretty, slight lisp, dimples... and an expert on something I think is cool. Stupid ocean between us making the chance of a random encounter where we fall in love nigh impossible.... I wish she had a channel where she showed all kinds of artifacts and talked about them. Especially any with an S or TH sound in their names.
Shame you never did a dig in Camulodunum(Colchester,Essex) so much history there,Norman,Saxon an Roman.is supposed to be the oldest recorded town in Britain?while I lived there they uncovered a 'racetrack' and an amphi theather.history everywhere around and in the town...

2/12/24. Love this show.. so sad so many of the original cast members have passed. Tony is an awesome host. 👏
Seeing those images emerge on that last geophys survey was absolutely magical! What an amazing tool that is!
The hosts make the story so interesting and entertaining , and very British. I love it.

This is one of the most impressive episodes I have ever watched .
Amazing the site will be analyzed for years to come, bravo.
Amazing! I’d love to take a Time Team tour of the UK. Defiantly a bucket list item.

Thank you for another fun, interesting and informative video. Please keep it up!
Is it possible, 3 days of field work and no rain?
This show was lightning in a bottle. I miss it very much.

Excellent episode and well work watching again !
I love their excitement in this episode

I love this man;s zest, energy, awareness and wonder at the subject of his narrations
Thanks for posting.
My favourite channel on youtube!! Great episode.

Finds comin' outta' both ends like New Year's Day.
An outstanding epuside! Great editing and totally enjoyable.
you came up with all those splendid Things not only from the Roman period but also from the iron age make me staggered. thanks a lot for your efforts really appreciated
I love the digital overlays. It is amazing someone can look at something and be like "yup that's a bath house". LOL
13:05 johns' face is priceless hahaha 😂
Very good, definitely worth watching the whole video.
Rome was awesome

- the 3 days rule - might be to build the rushy-suspence-feeling up?
All the people involved have day jobs at universities etc. 3 days is all they can spare.
From other episodes I've gleaned that they're very careful not to get into the "guts" of very important sites they discover. They respect the work of the other archeologistss who might want to dig these sites and do their own discoveries and write their papers.

British society didn't fall apart.
@@AnnaAnna-uc2ff Ah, yes it did. The whole country broke up into little Fiefdoms, the country didn't advance. It regressed.
Wondering why they didn’t keep the customs of a conquering empire?
What’s surprising about that
Went back to squabbling over land like the tribes of old
What a wonderful show with great personalities. LOVE IT and thank you!
Loved this☺️
I wish the producers hadn't overdubbed dramatic music.
I just love this 💖
New drinking game: take a shot every time someone says, "brilliant".
Really good stuff here!
Love this series!
As always you don't fail to educate and entertain us .But i do miss the raw humble beginnings of the older time teem episodes .

just saw the new episodes, stopped looking after 5 minutes
You lot have your camera, I have a shovel. Lol. Love the dude digging in the background
I have been a huge time team fan right from the beginning. Would love to do a dig with them!
Amazing 🤩
3 Days is just NOT ENOUGH TIME GRRRRRRR !!!
Yeah, that’s obvious. I don’t know why they even say that. Maybe, to add more drama, idk.
I find it so tiresome that the 3 days question keeps being asked again, after it has been asked for years over and over.
New people new questions be patient 😊
Very interesting …
Outstanding video, very interesting and informative. The finds are being kept where? Love to see them in person.
I love it all…except the 3 day limit imposed.
Ok, this might be a stupid question but do sites like this ever get _completely_ excavated ... dig out the whole 20+ acres, haul away the soil, find and conserve everything?
Obviously not in 3 days for an hour long program.
I often wonder why they don't use hand held metal detectors while in the trench........it would help to speed digging....
Thank you Professor
they have detectorists working along side them.
Not everything they find is metal. Pottery, lithics, and any organics cannot be detected.
Do you use metal detectors before digging.
So cool! just keep digging lol
I so wish you had more than three days! Maybe four or five perhaps? Some day?
I'm wondering you talk about the digging you're doing as being the last that will be done at this site However with your findings being as brilliant as they are is it unlikely that someone will have a look?
thumbs up and subscription already a long time ago...
How do oyster shells not fossilize after 2000 years?
Fossilization usually takes millions of years to occur (10,000 years at minimum)- 2000 years is really recent in geologic time
This is Time Team. Ck out Reijer Zaaijer's channel for all 20 seasons. Free from ads.
I bet there were a few hangovers on day 3!!!
Why this minutes, OK, money. I would like to see, what ever, for two weeks!

The host also sings in a band called Iron Maiden and fly jets.
no he doesn't, he s an actor,or used to be.
How do things get buried away???
GOD
Rain, wind, and natural decomposition of organic materials. Over time wind and rain move sediment and soil.
17:20 Aquitaine... You mean soldiers Asterix & Obelix had bashed out of Gaul, and run away from pirates, over the channel to start a new fort, in safer lands...
And triumphed - in the new social activity - called rugby union - in striped jerseys.
I am guessing you can!!!
Why haven't they gone back to that site and continued the investigation and mapping?
They have, the site also has been enlarged to include the township that grew up beside it and became a gateway for Roman imports into Britain.
I've learned to fast forward about 10 minutes to get the jesst of what's going on 😉 soooooooo much unwanted production available 🤨
Rome used warriors from the whole Empire for the legions, so did the Ottoman Empire
Where is the brothel,?
Pretty sure this is a reupload. Love tony tho
Stunning, the sea receded. So no sea level rise..? WTF are the climate clan talking about..?
❤️
I sure hope someone finishes these finds and not just fill in the hole.
I've been using Google earth and outlining all the Roman archeological digs and buildings found. And pretty much all of England was Roman. Lol 😊

For gosh sakes let them stay buried!
Love Time team but sick of Janice and Amazon Prime adds. If they are there to encourage me to buy they've had the exact opposite effect!🥵
Wait,... sea levels have risen or lowered?🤔 it's as if it has nothing to do with humans.😶👍
