Went thru three plumbers, none of them knew how to install freestanding tub properly (hard piping or plastic extendable pipe were not good options). Finally found this video, bought all the parts, showed it to the forth plumber, yesterday the tub was finally installed. You saved my marriage, thanks!

As a plumber myself I don't glue in that stub out from the trap, that way I can get an exact measurement without having to use an inside cutter and know that my pipe is cut square. I'm not criticizing your work I think that was a great video but it's merely a suggestion as it works a lot easier for me.

Not allowed to use transition glue inside a house either. Code says we can use it for one fitting outside the home which means the outside sewer line only. Should of been converted over in the floor with a mission coupling and stubbed up in PVC

I have watched a lot of your videos and find them very educative. Thank you for the effort to improve and help others with their projects Pro or DYS! I have bought 3 different occasions this drain. The one you do show. Different sellers and all 3 times had fail for Me... They all leaked from the gasket. One almost cost me thousands of dollars. I try to take one apart and even with the right tools almost destroy it. They try to seal it but coming out of the box leak. Just poor water and you will see. I just wanted to share my experience and help others prevent a disaster. If you decide to get one of this drains? Poor water in the base out the box and leave it for a while. Make sure the gasket does not leak from under the base. Between the Black base to the White PVC

Appreciate both the pro tips and the life suggestions. I worked for a GC 20 years ago that said something is stuck with me. He said “it’s just a lot more fun working with some people than others” I wish wished you and I worked in the same area. My jobs go well but I’m sure it would be a lot more fun working together. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for another great video I am a tile setter but dablble in plumbing like you. The inside pipe cutter is one of my favorite tools they make an inside pipe cutter that locks into an impact driver so you don't drop it down the drain I highly recommend it.

I should have used this in my nieces home. Her house is long, single story home with just one trap door on one end of the house. The soaker tub of course is the opposite end. It’s like a maze crawling like army under multiple HVAC pipes and to my frustration, half full of cement for PVC was hard so asked my brother to bring a new can to me lol (I’m in 60’s). Gotta remember this tip!!!

THANK YOU !!! I am doing a bath remodel for a friend that just... evolved from a simple upgrade to a full blown custom masterpiece. Your video could precisely describe my job. Old tub deck, second floor, no access, etc. Travertine and ornate trim, tile everywhere. I do not want a leak or questionable connection. Perfect video for me, but also, you present it well. You're a good teacher.

Awesome video! Second part is a must watch. You are thorough and clear. You are awesome at coaching. Thank you from Canada. I had imagined how they installed the tub in the master bedroom as I noticed the tub will come up if downward pressure is applied to one side (eg. Seat down on the edge). Your video has now confirmed exactly how the install work was done. I had never seen anything like that. As a DIY /owner was really pussled as I'm familiar with the glued plumbing only. Thanks again, Dan

Great video! I'm a DIYer but in my old age hired a licensed master plumber to remodel my bathrooms (including a free standing tub). He used his 2 sons as helpers. Five days into the project, $11K of jewelry disappeared - including wedding rings of 44 years, mother's ring, and anniversary ring. Discovered that both sons did prison time for burglary. Fired the contractor. We're traumatized. My wife cries when she thinks of it. Back to my DIY ways. I've never installed a free standing tub, but I'll learn. Thanks again for the video.

I installed the same kit. It was a pain to remove the drain cap. The lip broke as I tried to wiggle it out. I ended up drilling a couple of holes and removed the cap with a screwdriver and a utility knife. Overall, it was still a good kit to use if there is no access below the tub.

Hi Tile Coach. I am installing a free standing tub and your video showing the Jacuzzi drain alignment kit probably saved my project. I was going to cut my pipe from tub to drain and do like you advise against in Part 2 by gluing and setting the tub and take my chances that the tub is aligned in the 30 seconds before the glue sets. I am going to order the Jacuzzi kit and sleep better. Thank you so much. I wish that I had seen this a month ago before the tile went in but I think it will still work.
