I'm also a bin lorry driver, just finished a 9 hours shift and a service wash. then I arrive home and proceed to watch this, lmao.. Keep up the good work brother.
A short induction on the controls and correct bin handling procedures. Safe lifting, 3 points of contact entering/exiting the cab, button operation etc If driving, there will be a an assessment drive too, approx 30-45 minutes
In my experience they all operate in a very similar manner I ram bins onto the lift, they go up, they go down, that is satisfactory However, the left leg on this particular vehicle is terrible and regularly teases you in as it raises then gives up and drops the bin back to the ground

Thanks man. Left this job over 2 years ago but appreciate you.
Stay safe and keep it up
Its difficult sometimes collecting black bins in the dark. You can’t always see where they are lol
Good
Great job and video! Keep it up mate 👍
Can you do more of black bin
Thank you for watching, left that job a few months ago my guy so all we have are the current videos
Nice one mate
Nice video mate
Amazing video mate
Great job! Keep up the good work mate! 👍
Yes sem
When it's sub zero temps I need to use de-icer to opem the bins. I've always wonderd what the bin men do if they are frozen shut?
Bang the lids firmly or wrench them up, normally the shock of repeated banging on the lifts sorts it out
😂😂😂 I'll have to try that technique 💪
I love your TH-cam videos👍👍🙂🙂🙂
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you
Nice

Thanks for watching all the way in 🇦🇺 👋
Why are there no steps on the rear of the Truck? Here in Germany we have those?
Strictly forbidden to ride on any moving vehicles in the UK
Dan yo reckon we could get a depot tour
Not likely due to being private land and also it is a security risk
my collections literally start at 4:30am
Good lord that's early, not residential areas at that time surely?
@@wheelerd02 the most residential areas you could get. we start at 4:30am and finish and the trucks are back at the yard at 11:30 on a good day
And also before you can go on the road in a dustcart as a operator do you need to do some training

And in one of your videos can you give like what all the buttons do and a tour of the cab aswell
Does the lorry have a tracker?
I don't believe they did at the time no
How long have you known someone to be a dustman for as alot of them have done a long time
We have a couple 20+ year people in our yard. Alot of guys are 5-10 year stints
I believe we have someone on trade waste who started 35+ years ago
I did 23 years.
nice video! What time do you usually start your work?
0630 sign on
0645 vehicle _allowed_ to leave the yard
0700 bins going on
@@wheelerd02 thanks mate

What lifters do you prefer, these ones or the OMNIDEKA ones?

Dose the cab get shaky when the bins and the compactor goes
Indeed it does
When the bins are banging up and down it jogs the clipboard as I am writing things down
@@wheelerd02 one minute your writing a number next minute line down the centre of the paper
@@bradley-ts4kl pen off the page swiftly when the shaking starts
