Fantastic video! Loved every bit of it. It's amazing how much you progressed as clearly evident by the watching through the end of the video. Looking forward to training with Matt in the future for sure.

Siiiiick! Did you just show up in Oludeniz and walk around to find an instructor? Amazing, awesome to meet you. Hope we fly together again soon!

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly how that went down. It was cool meeting you too! I may be coming your way in the spring so we will have to keep in touch and hit the skies together again!!!

How many hours do you have flying? Is this your first SIV course? If so, do you wish you did it earlier in your career or do you think a person should have lots of flight time?

Hello. I kind of say in the video. I am entering my 5th year flying pg and ppg. I did my first SIV about 2 months ago. That video is also up on my channel. I waited because I felt I wouldn't get full value until I was comfortable flying. In hindsight, I wish I would have done it right away. If I had been attending continued training all along one can only image what kind of pilot I would be today. I think you can even see just in this video how much I progressed. I think if you want to build confidence and become a better and safer pilot, find good instruction and attend as early and often as possible.

@@jamesbialczak after I typed this I remembered your other video. I've been watching a few of these siv courses. One thing I can say is you really looked committed to the process. I can't even image how scary doing a fall stall and back flying would be. Then knowing you're supposed to hold it. Yikes.

@@lobbyrobby Yeah, so I almost did a couple in that first SIV in August. I did some pretty weak spirals so I kicked the Stalls in favor of more reps with the spirals at the time. I think it was a great call to really dial in what I was working on, and not push into something that I may only get one or two reps of before the weekend ended. Everyone's going to be nervous about Stalls the first time for sure. This particular opportunity just worked out really well for me. I was several flights and many different maneuvers in by the time Matt asked if I wanted to do some stalls. So I was feeling very comfortable and building a lot of confidence. I think there is something to being over water with altitude and flotation, and having someone you trust on comms. To be fully honest, I was more nervous on launch knowing its coming, than when the moment actually came. Once you are there over the water and the instructor starts talking you through the maneuver you're kind of committed in your own mind and you just kind of go for it. A lot of people pick it up quick. I struggled a bit and it took longer. My first 5 were messy. I had some inconsistent attempts to get into backfly in the middle rounds as well. Each attempt was far less nerve racking too as the bumpiest were the first couple of course, and you don't know what to expect. After those, I was just focused on getting it dialed in and more irritated with myself than nervous. The last several were pretty sweet though. Learning and building comfort in all those maneuvers really starts to unlock things in this sport. If you are on the fence about it, I would encourage you to absolutely go for it, but know your pace, and don't be afraid to pump the breaks at times and build more reps of things that you feel you need more of.
