    Story :-
Op comes from a well-off family, who is well-respected in the area. Her dad is a captain in the police and her mum is a respected doctor. Op and her younger brother, Benji are both at university, but because they live near one of the best universities in the country, they are both still living at home. They live in a lovely house in a gated community. Op’s maternal grandmother, Lola also lives in the same community in a big house, which she lived in with her husband until he died the previous year. Lola has always loved to travel and when her husband was alive, they explored all over the world. Recently, she decided to take a trip to spread some of her husband’s ashes in their favorite places. She returns home from her trip with a young man, Robbie, and she is very vague about why she brought him back. He moves into Lola’s house and Op and the rest of the family are horrified. All Lola will say is that he is someone she has met who needs her help and he will be living with her.
Op and her family assume that Robbie is Lola’s ‘lover’ and that he has picked up a vulnerable old woman who has money and is going to use her for her money. They are furious and set about trying to destroy his reputation and get rid of him. Finally, Lola calls a family meeting to tell them the truth. Robbie is actually her grandson. Lola had a child when she was young before she met her husband, and her parents made her give the child up for adoption against her wishes. Later in life, she told her husband who encouraged her to try and find her child. They did and unfortunately, her daughter passed away a few years ago, but Robbie was her son. It has been proven with DNA tests etc. Lola has been building a relationship with her daughter and Robbie and following her daughter’s death, she went on the trip to bring Robbie home with her. The family is shocked to find out what the truth is and tries to tell Lola that he has no right to the family money as his mum was illegitimate. Lola is angry and upset and threatens to buy every one from her will, leaving everything to Robbie.

Yeah a lot of older people get scammed by young lovers. But even more decide to use their money to get young lovers and the family gets all bent out of shape because instead of grandma or grandpa saving all their money for them to inherit the decide to spend it having fun. The nerve of this family to think they're entitled to her inheritance after they called her disgusting and abandoned her in her most darkest hour. And you'd think they would come to terms with this after they heard that the grandpa accepted everything, that they would come to terms with them, but that's just what greed and naiveté does to people. And another thing, I they're calling him a leech, why are they more concerned over the money than their own grandma's location. OP and her family are 1000% the a-holes. God the entitlement of them in this story is astounding! 'Legitimate child' the moment OP said that and that she was the real grandchild I thought yep she is a stuck-up spoilt princess that believes the world is owed to her. I hope Karma comes down harder than a ton of bricks on her and her family.
Before the updates where OP expressed concern about who Robbie was and that he was possibly scamming the grandma, I honestly was concerned too as we see countless stories of people trying to scam others. At that point, before the updates, I felt the grandma was being a slight a-hole to her own family by not explaining things to everyone and settling the issue right away. Sorry, but Granny if you're gonna bring a young stranger home and you refuse to explain why to your family. then you are a slight a-hole. Why? Allow me to explain. If my grandma went on vacation and brought home a complete stranger with no explanation then I would be scared for her. And no money is not the reason I would be scared. I would be worried because I don't know who he is. He could be axe murdered intending to cut my grandma into tiny pieces to put into a pie to eat for all I know! He could be looking to scam her too, that would also be a concern. However not because I would be worried about not getting any inheritance money. No, I would be worried my grandma would lose her home, her income to house and take care of herself, or that she would end up on the street because of some greedy punk tricking her and stealing her money. For me, inheritance would not even be on my checklist of concerns here. What would be a huge concern is my grandma not explaining things and me being kept up worried about her health and safety. Whereas once the story is told and it is made clear I could then relax. That said I would be mad strictly because my grandma refused to explain and decided my worries and fears were not valid enough to warrant an explanation. And if I was in OP's shoes once the situation was explained I would tell my grandma how she hurt me simply because she refused to explain things sooner and did not care about the worry and stress she inflicted. Of course, I would have apologized for jumping to conclusions to Robbie and that later if he is willing we could get to know each other, but for now space would be needed as I would not want to be around my grandmother if she felt she could not trust me with an explanation and my worries and fear simply did not matter to her at all. In my situation if in OP's shoes (it should be the same for OP if she wasn't a greedy spoilt princess), all it would take is Grandma explaining and I would relax and try to build a relationship with Robbie. As for Grandma the relationship would be damaged a little because of Grandma's lack of trust, but that would be on her to mend.
Sadly my response to the situation is not OP's response. Rather than relax once the dirty laundry was aired, OP and her greedy vulture family doubled down and refused to accept the truth. Thus Grandma's slight a-hole move I mentioned earlier is trumped by OP and her family's a-hole levels be astronomically high. I do feel bad for the grandma and Robbie and hope that despite all this they can move forward and be free of OP's family.

I know how it feels to be in that position. The problem being is that op is being extremely selfish by discounting robbie. Long lost relatives have happened and for those relatives that have sought out their lost ones, they are lucky. I never knew my mom or my dad and i dont believe anyone is looking for me. Im just an orphan that got tossed away by their adopted family. Robbie was lucky to have such caring grandparents that they sought him out and even took care of him after his mom died. I suspect that the father scarpered after finding out about the cancer and couldnt be bothered with his child. So the grandma was a true champion finding and helping her first daughter out. Op needs serious therapy to help her understand the situation that robbie is in. I hope op does get therapy and that the therapist can help her get her head put of her ass and stop being so damn selfish and possesive. I agree with the grandma in her actions because it makes sense that she wants to provide for her first grandson. No matter if hes illegitimate or not. Grandpa knew and encouraged the reunion so the rest of the family can just get their heads out of their asses and suck it up. Grandma was right in keeping it from the rest of the entitled family. And im glad robbie got the break he needed and the support in the form of that wonderful grandma who kept in touch with him through all these years

Bro, I’ve never heard of a story that makes me want to jump into the comment section halfway through.
To rip the bandaid off, I’m the illegitimate kid, and OP you don’t know what it’s like to live with that burden. Inheritance is an afterthought, you just long for that family connection and peace but in a way can’t due to circumstances (your parents don’t get along, distance etc.). You feel like you’re in an existential limbo with some days wondering if there is anyone out there who has your back. I am blessed to say I am one of the lucky handful who has family that did everything in their power to keep me included and thankfully never refuted my end of the family tree. I honest to Christ could care less about inheritance - I don’t want it and would rather give it to my little siblings so they have a fighting chance in this troubling economy, I just want my family and to be a strong pillar for them one day like they were to me… but if inheritance is your main priority Op, then I pray your kids or grandkids don’t do the same to you - treating you like the ATM at your funeral. It’s a hollow, selfish existence and neither party benefits from it.
Please, reconsider your cousin for your grandfather !

OP and family had the right to initially be concerned about some young guy moving in with Grandma. Once they found out the truth it was understandably hard to swallow. Grandma should NOT have kept this secret from her daughter for decades the lies is truly what broke all trust and ultimately unraveled the family. Yes, Grandma has the right to dispense her half as she see fits although half of that was her deceased husbands and should go to his only heir. I would be crushed to find out my mother kept such a huge secret from me for decades and it would be extremely hurtful and hard to accept. OP just needs to stay out of it this is between her mother and grandmother! IMO. Hopefully as time passes the wounds will heal and all parties will accept their mistakes in this family feud!

Grandma is the only person that really seems to care for true family.
Her children have always had good lives and do not seem to care about outside family.
Even with the little money we have in the family, we are happy to care for distant family in need.
Yes, we care for them in any way we can as long as the family member cares for us too.
Get to know family before judging his or her empty wallet or hard "poor" life.
Gated community is not something most of us can live in.
We cannot afford such a place, we share our bathrooms and have no pool or even a nice bath.
Some of us can't even afford a car....
Entitled people are depressing, but the good thing is that one day that money might be gone and then you might have to live outside of that community.
    Then reality will hit.
Good going to Grandma and to her children...good luck loveless people.

They got exactly what they deserved. The person to be upset with was the grandmother for not telling the family sooner and causing all the confusion. But that's it. Robbie is innocent. He didn't even know about the grandmother; she went looking for her daughter, and she found HIM. So it could never be that he was money-hungry. That's why I blame the grandmother (partially). By not telling anyone, it made them have legitimate concerns about Robbie's intentions. But her story cleared that up.
Also, her claiming Robbie's mother was no good because of the man she got with & made Robbie as well as calling them "illegitimate" makes them trash, and just as bad as their great-grandparents who caused the issue by making their daughter give up her child simply because the guy was poor. Only caring about money runs in this family. Regardless what they say, the grandmother didn't want to give up her child, and never considered her child illegitimate. By pressing the issue, they proved it was all about the inheritance. It went from "Let's stop grandma from making an uninformed mistake" to "Let's cock-block Robbie from getting any inheritance to ensure we get it all for ourselves." I'm glad it backfired. All you had to do was listen to your grandmother when she said "Call off the investigator & I'll explain everything." But no; they went scorched Earth, and grandma returned the favor. If your grandparents were wealthy, you don't think she did her own investigation when she hired someone 20 years ago to find her daughter? You don't think she had proof to show your grandfather for him to accept his step-daughter & step-grandson so willingly? Or do you think the dead daughter & 5-year old grandson (at the time) is playing a 35+ year long con involving an investigator they didn't even know was looking for them until THEY were found (& who didn't initially accept)? Just admit your greed & your loss, and move on.

Kinda reminds me of my sis sometimes too. We’re not rich or anything, she’s just the favorite child of the family including me. I’m the eldest child and older bro, kinda like a third parent too considering I’ve babysat my entire family when my parents were out working. She’s also really pretty naturally, but I’ve had to scold her many times. Luckily my dad was raised by a judge within my Asian custom. So whenever my sis tried to start anything either me or my dad shuts her up. My mom mostly had to agree with my dad and I as she was an orphan when she was super young and raised by her grandmother. She’s also smart but the only people who can keep her accountable and in line seems to be me and my dad. Especially me. My dad big time if he’s sees her doing real stupid things. Like when she wasn’t allowed to go shopping with my parents she screamed and cried while kicking the wall. She broke the wall after an hour of it and we’ll Webb my dad came oooh she regretted that action. She got spanked with a shoe soooo had her buns were red for a couple of days. She knew ever since to not screw up in front of my dad. Me she tried messing with me once and I threw her across the room back then. And I still don’t care if we’re adults and she knows it. That’s why we learn. I’ve been beaten before because of my wrong doings too as a child so I know morals and what’s right and what’s wrong. This is not called child abuse but rather discipline. She still acts stuck up towards our younger siblings sometimes, then I’d have to put her back in place. Mainly because my parents aren’t around when she does it. I see her doing that discreetly then I’d have to shame her for it and stare her down nowadays. She wouldn’t want me to get physical. Like shifting off chores to the younger sibling just because she’s lazy.

If it is a true story, I feel so sorry and sad for OP's Grandmother. 😢 Now, I can certainly understand the concern that OP and her family initially had for Grandmother 's wellbeing before she explained who Robby is. But they should never have mistreated him. Even I might have considered hiring a PI to make sure that Robby was not a serial con-artist or something worse, but I certainly would have respected MY Grandmother's thoughts, feelings, and decisions!!! OP and the rest of the family are so very entitled, pretentious, and so wrong in their thinking and behavior. Such inconsiderate people! If they truly loved their Grandmother and not just her money, they would have been so much more empathetic regarding her past and shown her sympathy and support instead of disdain.
