I think OP’s sister caused 99. 9% of the embarrassment at the wedding. I am 72 now but I did lead a life not unlike OP’s many decades ago. I may have been judged then by some, but not anymore after I got myself out of it and held down a good job for many years working with teenagers going through what I went through when I wished I had someone like me on board. OP, you have no reason to be embarrassed at all! Kudos to Keith for staying with you and and helping you through the bad times. You guys are both awesome. Stick to your family of TH-cam followers. She’s not the A-hole ! It’s her parents who can’t see that with the help of her husband, she has turned her life around for the best ! And for her parents to insist SHE apologises to her sister for her sister’s mistake is just acting SOOOOOO ENTITLED !
I would just shut people like this out of my life - if they can’t be happy for me for the person I have become and want to constantly hang on to the past, then that’s where they should stay - in my past !
Move on with your new life and forget those that have only brought out the worst in you. You’re better than them and you have enough people who will be on your side + a really loving and understanding husband who will be there for you for the rest of your life !

NTA - people all grow up and change. It was sink or swim for this OP, and she swam. Instead of her sister being happy for her, she was jealous and tried to ruin her.
In order for victims like OP to truly heal, they need vindication with their closure. OP did the right thing. Op’s sister has demonstrated that she doesn’t love OP. What she did was horrible, and she needed to take responsibility. I find it hypocritical for OP’S sister to be trashed on alcohol herself at OP’s wedding. I don’t believe OP’s mother and father love her either. OP chose the best option by teaching THEM a lesson about being bad people. She can now feel vindicated, satisfied, retain self-esteem, and go No Contact with her hypocritical, superficial excuse of a family and start her own.

She was two years old when she was baptized and my parents chosen me to be her godmother. I loved my sister as if she was my own child. I would feed her, changed her diaper, rock her to sleep, and babysit her since she was born.
In 2010, my sister was not there when my father died and was not there when he was given a memorial service. Her lifestyle was too important to her.
My priest had bought my sister a ticket so that my sister could come home to see my father one last time. She cashed in the ticket to support her lifestyle instead.
I felt embarrassed by her actions. I did not want my priest and church to be deceived by her. My father wanted to see her one last time. He loved my sister regardless of her past mistakes. I loved her, too. I still do especially when she broke my heart.
The last time I saw her in 2016, I chosen not to confront her, decided I should be polite. I kept my anger in check and did not embarrass her in front of her boyfriend, her small children, and our relatives.
I learned it would not do me any good to bring up my sister's mistakes. She did not need another person to yell at her. I just hugged her and told her I still love her.

NTA. I'm pretty sire the sister wasn't even affected by the alcohol, she probably said that intentionally. OP made the right decision by doing this, because if she hadn't, her family would've spewed lies around to the family and on her sisters social media about how horrible OP is. Those three just can't stop living in the past and learn that someone can change. As for OP's new in laws, I believe they just want to hook him up with a rich girl with a good background. I'm not so sure that using her You Tube fans was a good idea. Keith had asked her to be patient and wait and see if her family would ever get their heads on straight on their own. Keith has been so patient and understanding I hope he still feels that way now that she couldn't follow his advice. Yes, OP was a certain kind of woman and made many mistakes. She seemed to be looking for the love she probably didn't get at home and confused sex with love. Or maybe it was the intimacy she sought. I've known people like that. She accidentally met a nice guy when she was turning her life around but wouldn't marry him because she knew he didn't know about her past. She didn't want to tell him because as she told him - men would leave her when she would confess about her past. She must have really loved Keith and was pained by her situation so either she was trying to drown the pain or subconsciously wanted him to know the truth so she called him when she got arrested. So YES she confessed the whole truth then, long before any wedding, and his reaction was to leave. She figured she had lost him forever. But he returned. Yes she told him before the wedding. Yes he knew. Good grief, you unforgiving lot, people are allowed to turn their lives around. That doesn't mean a jealous sister has any business disrupting her wedding or her joy.

Definitely NTA! OPhad a bad life for a while, but turned it around into something positive. OP disgraced the family got throwing her sister out 9f the wedding? Quite the opposite. Nobody was even aware of all the negative things until the sister opened her big mouth. That brought disgrace and embarrassment on the whole wedding. All of the parents were horrible, with OP'S telling her to apologize to her sister when OP did the totally correct thing by removing her so the situation didn't get worse and then there are Keith's parents trying to get him to get a divorce because of all the stupidity of OP'S sister. OP'S family got what they deserved. The only question left unanswered id what Keith did about his parents.

NTA While I don't approve of the lifestyle Op did at first (Though I'm happy she's doing better and found a true blue man), I suspect the parents were playing favorites treating the Op sister as the golden child and cared more about reputation than their kids. And personally I think this was genius that OP got the internet to now treat the parents n sis as social pariahs for being selfish and snooty jerks.

Time should prove her stability, but speaking abt her within hearing is 100% wrong.
