Daaaaaang, I never even heard of a NH15A until now! Good for putting the word out, man! All the more reason of why its so important to do these reviews. Keep up the great work! 😎🍻👍
Thanks David! I’m not sure if this is the movement that will come standard with the watch or if it was a pre production model that was sent to reviewers? I reached out hopefully I’ll hear back
I still wear the watch, in fact I am today I really like it! However, once the movement gets fully wound that is when the hop skip and jump happens, so I don’t wind it much at all when setting it, just get it going and that’s it. It’s a real shame though cause I think the watch is fantastic
Oh Chris, that pic with the tiny movement in the gigantic plastic holder is hilarious. The stuttering of the seconds hand is very weird. It's really not uniform either. In the clip, just before 12 o'clock it seemed to stutter in a slightly different way to what's going on after. Very curious what this could be. My first guess would be that the hole in the second hand that rests on the center post is ever so slightly too big in diameter for the post. Maybe when the watch is fully wound and the center post has the most torque, there is some slipping going on between the post and the second hand. But, as you know, not a watchmaker. So more likely than not the reason is completely different:). Huge props to you for shining some light on this issue before the watch is available for purchase.
Good thing you sharing this important information with us and hopefully avi-8 has it fixed or this was a pre prototype before they changed thing but who knows
Wow, I know my watch with this issue disappointed me so I know how you feel, when we’re collecting we don’t want watches with these issues. In my research I believe mine to be the tensioner spring on the second hand, the second hand is independent of the minute and hour hand. Also noticed mine settles down when the watch winds down and it more prominent when fully wound. Hope they make things right, and miss advertising the movement is a big issue in my opinion also. Good luck with it.
Interesting blue this one runs fine if you don’t over wind it..::I’ve been in contact with avi8 via email, same email that was used to send me the watch in the first place so I hope to hear a response by the time I film and drop the review
What were they thinking, seriously, there's so many alternatives they could have used instead of this one. This is shoddy behind belief. Thanks for bringing this to light.
Yeah I’m wondering if it’s a production model thing and the other pieces not sent to reviewers will have a proper sized 24’jewel nh36 or 35, waiting to hear back from them on this
Oh My! Very disappointing. Not something I want to see inside a 450 dollar watch. Kudos to you for digging a little deeper Chris. Not that the NH15 is a bad movement but yes, not as advertised and clearly not capable of powering such a large watch.
Thanks Andrew….perhaps this being a “reviewer” watch it was sent wirh something diff than what will be available to the general public. The watch runs fine it seems when not fully wound, odd….I’ve reached out to avi8 and Dartmouth brands rep to see what I will hear back, the avi8 rep specifically was asked what movements are in the watches out now and if it’s the nh15 I advised them to I change the listing on the website to say 21 jewels. Tbh why not just say it’s a 21 jewel Seiko nh15A if that’s the case instead of the generic Japanese automatic three hand or in the other part of the website a 24 jewel Japanese automatic. Be interesting to see if I hear back before I get to filming the review. That aside, I do absolutely love the look and feel of this watch! It’s a beaut
I was thinking about it being a prototype or review piece but I would think the date window position would be pretty specific to line up with the smaller movement. Maybe not. I'm curious as to the outcome for sure. It is a beauty for sure.
On Amazon, these sell from $185-$235, depending on the watch face color, etc .But in the description it says it has a Japanese quartz movement.I wonder if they watched this video and/or had similar complaints and changed the movement.I know this video is a couple months old
Amazon is typically at times inaccurate with their specs. I was sent this watch by avi8 to review ahead of its original launch date. The issues with the movement sparked a mini investigation. The original listing on Amazon said it had a Japanese automatic 21 jewel movement. It’s not 21 jewels. Can’t recall jewel count but it’s always been an nh15A which is typically a smaller watch/ladies watch movement. Weird. They changed the specs on their website when I pushed them (hopefully on avi8 it is still accurate) but when I brought this issue to light subsequently they have dropped me from their list of potential reviewers I think. Oh well.

Yours likely has a VK meca quartz movement in it? If so those are rock solid, never seen anyone with an issue with one of those Seiko VK’s they’re great
Whether or not there’s anything wrong with the movement it is completely unacceptable to have inaccurate information on the specs for the watch they are selling.
Fair enough Jamy, I’ve contacted them, and wonder if they sent out watches to reviewers like me with different movements? If not then I did advise them to edit the info on their website. I hope to have an answer before I do my review :)
All I have to say is woooow!!!!! Really? Lmao man that's terrible. It's all plastic with a tiny movement lol. Terrible! Shame on them. Why not use the NH35? or a Miyota series?
That’s what I am wondering myself man! And that is what appears to be advertised on their site referring to a 24 jewel movement. I’ve reached out to them hopefully I hear back. I wonder if this is a prototype version that was sent to reviewers like myself ahead of the release?
I bought a spinnaker hass .with the nh15 in it 650dollars non hacking .I thought for this money it would have been at least a myotta 9 series quite disappointed.
