I'm a competitive debate champion, I just wanted to talk about the Ploob lawyers' arguments. Starting at 12:05 this is fantastic, the lawyers run what's called a "de-link". Doug had spent too much time on the usage argument but what chat did here delinks that argument so it no longer applies to the affirmative plan (Ploob). This argument alone wins the case for me, without the usage argument Doug doesn't have a leg to stand on because his remaining arguments are;t as strong as the writer as an expert witness.
Imagine being the guy who just said "poob" in chat as a joke when doug needed a jump command, not knowing what it would become.

I'm a descriptive linguist and I've been a Poobist for the first 8 minutes of the video (which means 27 years in TH-cam time). But, after Paul Dini said it was Ploob, I had to accept that. It is a proper noun, so it's the person who gave/owns that noun that decides how to pronounce it. It's like in Dr. Frankenstein from Young Frankenstein vs. Igor, the doctor was right. Theoretically, you can require people to call you Doog or whatever you want.
In that theory you should pronounce gif as jif, but only scrubs do that.
Now that you mention it, I kinda want to start calling him Doog...

I often ask myself why people bother watching streamers. It's just sitting, watching somebody play and getting out-spammed by a bunch of other people. Then there's Doug who turns someone's comment about "ploob" into a courtcase and completely derails the stream, I love it.

As we can all agree, Poob is the greatest cultural pillar of Paul Dini's career. He also created some cartoon character called Harley Quinn, but I'm sure no one cares about that.
I love Dougdoug videos because it always would have a random debate and inside joke in the middle of it. Even then he didn't even mention or hint about it from the start of the video. It's like getting hit by a falling plane it's something so random yet so impactful.
It's also funny that the guy who said poob probably only said it as a random word, and has no idea about the character who happens to be Star Wars related, and has a mispronunciation that would happen to create a rabbithole.
Also Doug and the dude who made the original wiki has a hearing problem because it's so clearly PLOOB and the guy who pronounced it made a distinct L sound
