Gabriel I often admire your courage doing voice-overs. People must wonder who in the heck you are speaking to, much of the time!
As a woman, I am not sure how comfy I would feel traveling in Arab countries by myself.
But, the people seem to be quite nice to you so what is not to like, huh?

Hi Gabriel, I had almost had the exact same experience you had in Tunis! I.e. a local meeting me on the street, taking me to the same carpet store with the same panoramic view and showing me around the medina. The guy at the carpet store showing you around was a different one though, but his older assistant was there when I visited too! This brought back a lot of memories!

Definitely this makes me change my perception, the Medina is so alive but not overwhelming. I can only say the view on the top of that shop and how beautifully they keep that roof is worth it. That's a very ingenious way to bring people to a shop! Reminded me Jerusalem and Istanbul.

Hi Gabriel, there's no doubt the Arab countries created the hustle they're business-savvy people going into the Medinas are risk-taking ventures because they recognize the foreigners, and they try to capitalize on that knowledge. Those rugs are exquisitely beautiful in any room of the home. He put honey into the juice and sweetened it even more.

A little off topic Gabe but there is a couple very small Italian islands not far from the Tunisian coast; one being Pantelleria and the other Lampedusa. I hope to see you check out those islands someday from what I’ve heard they are lovely! Pantelleria is only 60km off the coast of Tunis and can be seen on a clear day I’ve read. Also In 2013 trip advisor rated a beach on Lampedusa “worlds best beach.”

I liked your "inside joke" about the sandals! From some of my travel experiences, non-muslims will be allowed in some mosques in the outer courts (outside gardens) but not inside the main building/s. That was definitely a worthwhile view of the city despite having the "run around" with that local guy.

Gabe, I see there aren't many cheap flights available out of Tunisia until 9/10. Yet you could always take a 10-hour ferry to Sicily for $25. Otherwise you could fly to Dakar for about $300, but I don't see many other options in the next week or so. You could always try and get a visa for Algeria, or explore more of Tunisia (there's lots more to see) and fly out in a week or so.

"Getting Lost in....." clickbait!! LOL Worked for me, Gabe! Alas, I was disappointed you, in reality, did not get "lost" but it was a fun one for sure! I was agonizing over you walking through the shop area so quickly. Understandable for you, of course. But for me (Maybe many others?) my eye saw many things I wanted to touch and get a much closer look! I wondered if I could actually walk all through that amazing place and not buy a thing!! I did not notice haggling, which I really do appreciate.
Question: What is this on the wall at 13:50? I saw it twice in two different places. Some of the numbers followed sequence but then would go all over the place. The squares are perfectly shaped.
