    Someone was following me around in New York city that one evening. I happened to see a pharmacy that had a security guard at the door (Times Square). I stopped next to him and the guy walked away. The guard asked me if everything was ok.
    "Yeah, thanks. This guy was following me and I figured he wouldn't care for the uniform when he would see you".
    Never saw the stalker again.

    Gabe your infamous blanket that you lay on all of your beds looks almost like it belongs in that room for some reason! Lol very nice video but you Definately get that vibe even just thru the camera lense and without hearing your story that there are some shady people to watch out for there. Not to the point of being unsafe to visit but nonetheless you can just feel that it’s best to be more aware of your surroundings than other places.

    Now that I've just returned from my first visit to Tunisia, I thought I'd come back and re-watch this series! I have to say that I fell in love with Sidi Bou Said, but I enjoyed strolling around the backstreets and alleyways the most. It seems that most visitors just stick to that one main street, and ignore the beautiful, quiet parts of town, which I pretty much had to myself on the day I visited.
    I do have to say though, Gabriel, 50 Dinar for a taxi from Central Tunis to Sidi Bou Said??? I flagged down a taxi from next to the tall clock in the city centre, and was dropped off at the exact same place as you, and it cost me 12 Dinar!

    Hi Gabriel, Interesting town talk about hustle it sounded like the French Tunisian woman wanted to do that's something you have to be aware of because that could be a setup and then you get robbed by somebody down the alley. I would think the hardest thing to do is travel alone, you must be extremely careful not to get into a problem you can't get out of.

      @@wilfredotorres6628 Organized crime like this doesnt happen in tunisia though. Its a relatively small country where the police has a lot of power and information, and many of them are actually in civil clothing. It has its pros for foreigners and its cons for locals but all in all safety is not an issue except for the common pickpockets that happen in all tourist destinations all around the world.

    I'm not up to speed on Tunisia's political situation but for some reason thought there had been some instability recently. That having been said, am surprised how westernized some of the women look, Yes, there are also women in traditional Islamic dress, but it's almost like you could be in parts of Europe the way many others are dressed. As for Sidi Bou Said, you will find authenticity and beauty in it... I know that it is not the most beautiful, but it is considered the seventh most beautiful village... I simply said I’ve seen more attractive Greek towns than this one which is merely an opinion. And secondly, Said Sou Sidi did in fact copy a Greek town - Santorini. You are misinformed and bias if you think otherwise; Santorini was founded centuries earlier before Said Sou Sidi was founded. So maybe, it’s you who should learn more about history. Lastly, i’m not from any Arab country, not sure why you’d assume that. I can only guess it has something to do with some sort of rivalry between your countries, or maybe you’re confusing me with someone you were replying to previously, but I’m an American.

    50 dinars for a taxi from Tunis to Sidi bou said? You got ripped off .. Should be 20 max, maybe less. There is a console that displays the price in the taxi, that's what you should pay, and make sure the driver switches it on .. Obviously advice for travellers not Gabe since he doesn't use taxis that much anyways :D

    I have been following your trip in Tunisia and was curious about this town which seems worth visiting. Good you mentioned the 5am prayer call so people have it in mind when choosing a hotel. Don’t know how likely it is to avoid it though since there may be speakers scattered around the town. Good luck with that!
    When you visit your Instagram, I sent you a DM if you find the time to read it.
    Looking forward to seeing more of this town.

      The call for the prayer is only 1 or 2 min and it's not as loud as he's trying to describe it. Maybe if you were outside but not behind thick concrete walls! I find that he's just being a little bit disrespectful and exaggerating!

    • @helenai13
      @helenai13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment. I did not consider it disrespectful, it was merely a fact that was stated. Regardless of the time it takes, one may not wish to wake up that early in the morning. I experienced the same thing in Instambul. It took longer than 1 or 2 minutes and for some it is very difficult to go back to sleep and rest a little longer:)
      In sharing an experience others will be aware of specific facts and given the chance of choosing according to what their interests and needs are.

      Interesting point. The buildings in Sidi Bou Said were painted blue and white in the 1920s. In 1938 the Greek government mandated the homes be painted white during a cholera outbreak as a disinfectant. However it's not clear when exactly they first started painting their homes blue and white, maybe it was actually before that rule was made.
