i so totally appreciate you all taking the time to do this. there are only like 2 or 3 other Shpongle reactions out there that i could find. man, i wish i had gotten here while you were premiering it so i could jump in the chat, but i had to work nearly an extra hour today before i got out the door. after that bummer it was super groovy to see y'all had gotten to this. very close guess, Sifa -- this was off their 2009 album, which had a heavier middle-eastern/indian vibe, but is always psychedelic EDM.
for me one of the main reasons i picked it out of the several i was considering was the vibe here reminded me of the way Dan talked about your new album as an "edibles journey", all the highs and the lows. so that felt like a point of connection. i can imagine this song and moongaze being played back to back pretty seamlessly.
here's a story -- when my daughter was in the 3rd-5th grades and i'd be driving her to school sometimes this track would pop up in the mix. one day it got to that part about "i always take a little extra bit too much, god, my grandmother would kill me!", and she asked me, "Baba, why would grandma kill you?" and i said, "well, sounds like somebody was taking too much. what do you think they're talking about?" she thought about it a minute and said, "maybe cookies?" i couldn't help smiling at that, and just had to agree with her. yea. cookies. take too many, makes grandma upset.

I love Shpongle. It's quite literally trying to emulate the psychedelic experience in this song (and others). And honestly, they did a great job. Especially the whole "I am you and you are me" pieces. And the effects... way cool, and kind of accurate if you ever tripped. It is intended to put you in a trance, I think. And, makes you think about things in life.
It's just different from a lot of electronic music.

One time this song had me thinking I had telekinesis. I DIDN'T, but the entire forest was a shape shifting ocean of colors and emotions. Shpongle is interdimensional soul candy haha. Love seeing peoples faces trying to decipher it.

If you haven’t already delved more into shpongle, please do! I know for a fact their music has changed countless lives for the better including mine ❤️
Also check out Simon’s pre-shpongle stuff, he used to go under the name Hallucinogen. All of it is way ahead of it’s time.
