You may need to make a new water line. You want to make sure the nossle is just touching the water. Are you making sure the bottle is put in all the way?
You can, probably 3-4 max level, will be the most you can do for that super fizz. The machine will not malfunction. It'll just keep decompressing the extra, and you'll just be wasting co2.

For a can of Sparkling water I would go with a level 2. Level 3 is my favorite but I LOVE sparkling water.
The most important thing for any sparkling water machine would be make sure the water is as cold as possible before carbonating it.
