      You do realise this dissolves your teeth. Carbonated water has a pH of 3-4. Teeth de-mineralize below pH 4.4. This is why beer is better for your teeth and diet coke (pH 3.4) is bad and normal coke (pH 2.6) is a disaster.

    I've had my Sodastream for at least eight years. Although I'm not as heavy a user (a canister lasts me maybe three months) I truly love it. I mostly use powdered single flavor packages but only half to a third of a package, The A&W rootbeer is exceptionally good. The only problem I've had with my machine was about five years ago. I described the problem to the company's customer service rep who sent me a new rubber washer (and a spare!) that corrected the problem.

    I just bought the Fizzy SodaStream as a replacement for an older model which was malfunctioning. At first I thought the problem was the cannisters. It seemed as though I wasn't getting the needed pressure required for a good blast. I'd depress the button and the blast sometimes was more of wheeze as though the cannister was running low. It also blew small white chunks into the water which then dissolved within a minute or so. A new replacement cannister did the same thing. I could get the "deep sound" three times which should have indicated a fill...but the water was still flat. I just tried the new machine (which doesn't make that deep sound the older models used to) with the cannister from the older machine and it worked beautifully.
    I like to put a little stevia in the bottom of my glass and add a tsp of 100% pure organic lemon juice (Santa Cruz) then fill up the glass with soda water - very refreshing!

    Mine has quite literally saved my life. I hit 163KG last year amidst the pandemic. I would drink a 2 litre bottle of "diet" coke a day, among other things that were seriously bad for me. I went to a personal trainer who put me on a diet - I stumbled upon a SodaStream in my supermarket that day that was 50% off, and took the plunge. Now I have the diet cola instead and it's helped me lose 17kg in the last year. Never going back to normal cola.

    Just curious, you mentioned you had a CO2 canister that was leaking. Can you describe what it did? During covid my local store was out of canisters for almost a year. When they finally got them back in I got 2 and both of them didn’t work properly, and I’m guessing maybe they were both leaking? The CO2 canister got extremely cold to the touch when I tried to run it. Does that sound like a leak?

    • @6MonthsLater
      @6MonthsLater  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure, the canister being cold when used makes sense since you’re releasing compressed gas out of it, so I wouldn’t take that on its own to mean you have a leak. Ours made a slow hissing sound and went flat after a few hours. Or I’ve also had one that when you use the machine the noise it makes is much louder and sounds like a lot of extra CO2 is escaping from the connector. - Josh

Since I first bought my own one in 2021, I've started using a newer one (which is already 6 years old). Can't live without it either, because I like my sparkled water being sparkled, not 'lit up with bubbles'. I was looking into the Sodastream DUO, but prices went up last month. • @6MonthsLater
      @6MonthsLater  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on supermarket and region where you live. For me, it is actually cheaper than the spindrift I was buying but that’s a pretty expensive brand. If you’re just buying carbonated water and only that, it could come out cheaper. But then you’ve got all of the bottles to deal with which is part of the selling point of SodaStream. Hope that helps! - Josh

      Not one the one touch, but potentially on the munaul model. Or just mix some flat water and caronated water together when your pour into your drinking container to get less carbonation.

    • @6MonthsLater
      @6MonthsLater  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd reccomend taking up coffee. It'll get you the caffeine boost and you can slowly decrease the amount of sugar you use in coffee to the point where you add none in. The soda stream can be used throughout the rest of the day to simulate that mouth feel. Or...you might be able to find straight caffeine to add into your bubbly water like what Coke and others are doing and you won't have to deal with a sugar carb crash if you go that route. - Josh

Without bubbles... So that suxxx for sure. I am thinking to send it back because that was not the intention. It is not the same as bottles sparkling water at least for me. I am hoping it is an issue with the device. But seems like it is not.

    If you drink flavored carbonated beverages like cola then the soda stream wont save you money when compared to buying 2L bottles, off brand canned cola, or a good sale. Just if you're looking to save money you'll need to examine what you drink and how much or may not save money at all.

    I had a soda stream for years after they were first popular. There are a couple issues I have that led me to get rid of it.
    First, once the popularity waned it became harder and harder to get the syrups I wanted in stores. Sure, there's Amazon but I can't use a coupon on Amazon to bring the price down.
    Which leads to the second issue - you aren't likely saving any money using this thing. Unless you go with a really light carbonation, the price per ounce for just carbonated water is more than just buying seltzer water in the store. And it's even more if you are purchasing the flavoring to add in. At best, it's a wash. I did most of my purchases and exchanges at Bed Bath and Beyond because they would allow the use of their 20% coupons, which brought it in line with cans of soda. But...
    The third issue is that it's inconvenient to exchange the CO2 canisters. I bought an extra so that I was never out at any given time but I still had to go someplace other than the grocery store to exchange the canister. So I'm spending more money per ounce just because I have to go out of my way to exchange this thing. And I probably can't use a coupon for exchanging it via the mail so the second issue comes into play.
    Finally, I used their Diet Coke syrup and sometimes it tasted soapy. Maybe they fixed that now but that's how it was back then.

    • @Actionronnie

      Recently I just started buying the syrups, been using them for flavored water without the carbonation. Basically a flat cola.
      Gotta say that I actually don't mind it, but then again flat cola doesn't really bother me. Add some ice and keep the drink cold, and it's barely noticeable for me.

    • @arturo1990
      @arturo1990 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you just had a bad experience rather than a bad product. Not everyone is gonna care about flavors. #2, not everyone is gonna care about flavors. And #3 sounds like you just had a bad timing issue with the running out-exchange canisters ordeal. 🤷🏻‍♂️
