Just upgraded from Spirit to E-terra .. A very good buy. Also love the quick connect, no more the hassle of how tight I have to screw in the regular cannister.
Yeah, putting in the cylinders is nice. I do wish it wasn't a proprietary / non-standard format.

Do they both carbonate any drinks or only water. I heard some of these will cause a mess if you mix ingredients before carbonation
Only water - these are not designed to carbonate anything else.
Always add syrup after you carbonate the water. Never before.
I’m thinking about getting a corny keg and a continuous carbonating lid. Have you ever experimented with something like that? I’d like to get out of the bottling process and just get it out of a kegerator :-$

is it possible to open those sodastream canisters and just add some baking soda and lemon salt (citric acid) and some water in the right proportions to make co2 naturally?
byproducts like water and sodium citrate would also be produced - you'd have to separate the gas. It would be a complicated and challenging setup vs other options.
