Just found you. Enjoyed watching you do the project. It seems doable to me. Robin

Hi Robin, thank you so much. The hardest part is making sure the piece is centred on the mat board. Give it a go. You will be surprised how easy it is. Tia

Exactly what lm looking for. Thank you for sharing. What did you use for the backing pieces and for the back of the cross stitch

I use acid free mat board from the framers. It’s so strong and safe to use with my stitched pieces.

Thank you for this tutorial - great idea. How do you figure out the dimensions for the easel pieces?

Hi Elaine, I’m so sorry for the late reply. I think with these ones, once i had the mounted piece I measured 3/4” wider on all 4 sides so that there was some fabric from the easel showing. Sometimes I’ll have 1/2” on all 4 sides, but it really depends on the piece and personal preference.

Love the way you did this. Two questions-would pinking the edges help it to lay flatter? What size rivets do you use on your flat finishes?

Hi Sarah, yes I’m sure pinking shears would help maybe, but as I use a 1” border of fabric I would want to cut it any less than that and once it’s damp from the glue I can manipulate the fabric to lay pretty flat. I’m not sure what size the rivets are maybe between 6-9mm.

Beautiful work, as always Tia!!! I will definitely be coming back to use this tutorial. Where did you get the mat board from please?

Hi Maria, Thank you. I get the mat board from a local framer.

It looks that you don’t use bathing. Just the mat boards and it makes the board pieces not bulky.

Hi Rosario, there is fusible batting on the back of the stitched piece. There is not batting on the mat boards.
