Just wanted to say that this video is still so helpful 5 years later! One of the best tutorials I could find for finishing my projects. Thank you so much!
Agreed! I'm not making an ornament but I just wanted some other way to finish my cross stitch that didn't take a hoop or picture frame. This worked perfectly! However, I did have to hot glue the aida cloth onto the board because it was just too stiff, I couldn't pull tight enough to keep it wrapped. It ended up really nice though, so thank you!
I definitely chose the right video on finishing cross-stitch ornaments today. Love the basting and lacing technique. I never would have thought of this. THANKS!!
Thank you for showing me how to make ornaments without hot glue. I am making ornaments as gifts for my family this year and will be using your method. Also, I’m from the south and don’t hear accents like yours that often. Your voice is very soothing to me.
OK Cindy. I have a dozen or more ornaments in my completed pile that need finishing so I will be watching your video here a few more times to get it right! Thank you for your easy tutorial! I hope I can make my ornaments as nice as yours! Wish me luck...!
I’m making a hummingbird cross stitch wall. I was going to use embroidery hoops to hang them but now I think I’ll do them like this. Thank you for the inspiration.
WOW! Glad I found this video as I will use it to finish my needlepoint ornaments! I've watched several videos and find this is the easiest to follow. Thanks!
Hi Cindy, I, like many of your commenting subscribers have a pile of completed projects woefully waiting to be finished. I’ve never seen any samples completed with batting and your completed ornaments are what I would call, “truly lovelys”! I cannot wait to rescue my projects and begin again. Many thanks.
Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! I'm am one of those people who doesn't like the gluing method. I'm get it all over my fingers & on my stitched piece. So this was incredibly helpful Cindy. It think I'll give finishing another try.
Thanks for sharing your tip of lacing your orienment. Looks easier than what I have been doing. The stitched pieces were cute to. Thanks again for sharing.
You read my mind! I was just thinking that I needed to search out a tutorial for rounds now that I have the hang of rectangles! Thank you so much for this!
Thank you - I am going to binge all of your videos. I have glued and sewed, and I like the sewing better. One takes as much time as the other, and the finish is better with the sewing.
Thank you so much for this video! I have been looking for more creative ways to finish my cross stitch projects other than the traditional, pricey matting and frame method.
farm girl thank you. Its super easy once you do it a couple of times. Based upon your project bags, you will have no problem doing these.. stay warm. 🌻
What a wonderful video, thank you so much for taking the time and making it! ❤ I've searched so long for an instructional video on how to make ornaments like this. And may I add that I absolutely love your calm way of explaining and your lovely accent?
Cindy, thank you so much for posting this video. I learned something new and I am so excited to try this. I have been stitching for a lot of years, but I have never known a good way to finish my ornaments. I just finished stitching a Christmas cardinal, and i was going to glue felt on the back. I am going to give this method a try. You made my day!
THANK YOU for sharing this wonderful tutorial! I have a stack of smalls that would be lovely with this technique. I've just been too chicken to try without seeing how it was actually done! Beautiful work as always. 😊
Cindy, I have 4 FO's sitting at home waiting for me to finish them. Watching your tutorials today makes me want to fully finish all the things this weekend! Have a good one!

Hi Cindy ! I just uploaded a video of showing how i made my ornament and I did it after watching your video so i wanted to thank you ! So.. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks !!
Hi Cindy! I just found your channel & blog!! You inspire me so much!! From your stitching, decorating, and all the garden inspiration you share. To come from a health tragedy to be so happy and smiling and grateful. Gosh. It just warms my soul. You are totally right, you have a purpose and a reason of being!! You light up this world and community!! I’m so grateful to have found your channel!! Sending you sunshine and loving happy vibes. From SC!! oxoxo
Oh my gosh, I JUST now got around to watching this tutorial!! I’m so glad I did, because I have been stitching for almost 30 yrs, but have been petrified to try to fully finish anything on my own! Your tutorial has made it look so easy & has finally given me the confidence to try it on some of my stitched pieces! I have this little bear piece that was an ornament kit that I stitched up yrs ago & accidentally cut too close to the stitching, but I think after watching this I can totally try to make it into a little ornament. It was too cute to throw out, & I’m glad I saved it, because I’m going to try to finish it using your lacing method. I have two questions for you: On the star ornament, it looked like you glued your trim around the back of the hanger, but on the little oval ornament you showed it looks like you glued it in front of the hanger. Does it matter which way you glue it? I think I’d prefer in front of it, but would that make any difference in how it hangs? Also, what kind of batting should you use (thickness)? Thanks so much for the tutorial! 😊
