All lenses have their use. Don't get caught up on just "the blurrier the background, the better". When I just started photography and had a chance to go to Japan with my family, I kept using a 100mm because I liked how blurry background it would give with a 1.4 aperture. But I realise that I missed out on a lot of opportunities to include the elements that shows that I was actually in Japan.
Loved this with APS-C sensor which is what most people with have! A general tip I always have for people when looking at focal lengths like 35mm and 85mm is that a wider lens like a 35 leans more towards *where* you’re shooting, and a more tele lens like the 85 is leaning towards *who* you are shooting
I bought a 50mm a couple of years ago and it make me fall in love again with portrait photography. I use a crop sensor camera so this is very useful, thanks Jessica!
My goodness... Now i realized how far it is to capture full body portrait with 85mm.. I think this is final for me.. im getting 50mm in near future... Its my first time prime lens purchase plan..
Thank you so much for sharing! I love the details of the 85 mm camera especially when taking close-ups of the face I love those. But I also enjoy the 55 mm because you're able to get the beautiful trees & the model.
I have the 50mm, i came here trynna clear up what i wanted to buy, i end up thinking that i have want i need , i have the 50mm i love it, if your looking for your first lens wich inst the kid lens, get the 50mm, good for photoshoots, great for eeeding photography, you can start with this one while you get more money
I just don’t know if I should get a prime lens or zoom lens. I will be recording myself In the gym as well and general street photography. I’m so baffled
That's a great idea! Do a search for photographers in your area, and see if any of them are willing to let you tag along on a few sessions. You may have to pay them for their time, but still that would be a great way to learn.

Thank you, explainer! You saved the village
Perfect advice
I'm assuming the 50 is a in between lens? I have a sony a6400 with 18-105 F4. but looking for a better lens.

The 85 stood out during this shoot but for full body shots the 50 was amazing.
I love the background blur with the 85mm but the overall favourite appears to be the 50mm.
I Prefered the 85mm with your shots but that's my preference I use the 50mm and 85mm the most I love your work and videos keep um coming!!
Hey Jess, I have a Canon rebel t7 and looking to upgrade the lens to 24-70mm f2.8. I’m looking for a crisp clean sharp capture
The Mark II is sharp but the Mark I is no sharper than the kit lens. But isn't that overkill for a Rebel?
Hey nice video, should I purchase 24 mm prime or 35mm prime for canon APSC camera. I already own 50mm part from kit lenses. Thanks
I have the same question, so what did you end up getting and do you like it for what you shoot?
Thank you for this. The model is just a breathe of fresh air. Love the scenery. Video is straight to the point. 🤗🤗
The 50mm does it for me. The 85 as well. But the distance of the 85 would be somewhat limiting. Thanks again.
That's what I'm trying to factor, is the distance that my 50mm is making me stand back at.
Hi Jessica, based on the photos you took, the 85mm shots were my favorite. Thanks for the great vid

50mm is just right! "Should be illegal not Having 50mm focal length" as a TH-camr said once :) probably was right!
If he said that for full frame cameras then that's different than the 50mm in this video.
I love how her pictures came out and how you edited them
50mm or the 85mm are always my favorite!!
thankls this is exactly what i was looking for
Please, which camera and lens did you use to take the video at 00:45?
Why not shoot 1.8 with higher shutter speed
Which lens do you like better in APS-C body?
Дышите воздухом. Вы передаёте красоту изоброжаемого объекта и скрываете свою.
So the 50mm on a cropped sensor is like 75 on a full frame right ?
Yes :)
75 if it's a Nikon due to the 1.5 factor but 80 on a Canon due to its 1.6 factor

I have the cheapest one, 120 usd, it does a great job, im not buying the expensive one lol.
50mm 1.8 stm

👌👌
🙏🙏
Nice comparison
Thanks you used APSC camera
Ive been shooting for a long time, but I still cant see the difference and i still dont know what im doing
How long is a long time? And what can’t you tell the difference between?
Sounds like you would benefit from a photography course at a local college, or even free online tutorials. 😉
@@rightlanejane9112 tried going to night classes. I guess I just need more hands on, 1on1 with a pro

50mm hits the sweet spot...
Great video Jessica I like 85mm 😍🥰👍
I learned everything from you ....love you...😇
thanks for the video so much :D
50 and 85 only outdoor :( with crop sensors indoor is pointless.
The 85mm isolates her too much
❤️💎
👍👍👍
Ох и модель, её надо на 12мм снимать чтоб ряпло влезлл
tragediaaaaa

Should we wear a face mask while watching the video?
Obscene masked face-hate.
