Doors concerts were crazy. Jim Morrison was living on the edge. Unless you are really into the Doors and want to check out the entire package, I suggest the studio versions of their songs. This was a great studio band.
Thank you for saying that! I agree. There are a lot of great gems to be found in their live performances, some surpassing the studio version, but overall, your odds are better if you stick with the studio versions. I can DEFINITELY think of exceptions to that, though. Maggie M'Gill live in New York (Felt Forum) comes to mind IMMEDIATELY. The studio version is great, but the New York version has a groove that will stay with you all day, and you'll go to sleep with it still echoing in your head. Give it a listen, if you haven't already. I prefer most of the live Light My Fires over the studio version.
I had the good fortune to be able to see the Doors live in concert at Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis back on November 9th, 1968. I think the capacity was just over 9,000 people and the place was packed out. Morrison was simply amazing he had the entire audience mesmerized. I swear people would have done almost anything he asked of them. I have never seen a concert where people were so totally enthralled by the artists. It was amazing and frankly almost spooky! One of the best concerts I have ever seen!
This Texas Honky Tonk I used to frequent in the 70 when this song would be playing on the jukebox everyone banged their beer bottles on tables, fun drunk times , great song thanks Angela
Wow, great, great version, so good my dear, one of their best Rocking songs and all time classic. They have so many great tunes, try Crystal Ship, another phone worthy tune if their ever was one! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
"The future's uncertain and the end is always near".. A very interesting line, full of insight. The Doors lineup is: Jim "Mr. Mojo Risin' " Morrison-Vocals and Harmonica, Ray Manzarek-Keyboards, Robbie Kreiger-Guitar and John Densmore-Drums. A small but powerful group that changed the effect and ethos of the music industry, for a time. The early 1970's were the biggest time of growth for the music industry, and The Doors were a big reason why.
It was what it was for the times. Morrison created most of the hype around him.....by his antics. He had a good voice and created his own persona. Drama was part of that persona.....ripe for the times. I was a 70's teen......graduating high school in 1973.....so I was there living in those times.
Angela....again...more beautiful than yesterday! Reminds me of the song...I love you more today tgan yesterday!! And I do...love the song and you more than yesterday. Wasnt that a nice saying?!!!!
I like the Doors, I never saw them live but Jim Morrison had quite a reputation and voice. Good bluesy song this one. My favourites are Riders on the storm, Light my fire and Love Street-Colin Ward
The Doors were a great, immensely talented band in a decade jam packed with great talents. However, I’ve never been a particular fan of the bluesy honky tonk songs like this one. Now if you decided to play Wishful Sinful, Running Blues, Riders on the the Storm, etc., I’d be up for a listen.
I like most of their 🎯 hits! Their lead singer Jim Morrison was an enigma! I won't judge or criticize his actions or behaviour, because who knows what he was really going through! Music is so magical!
Jim Morrison died when I was 10 so a little bit before my time. When I started getting into music a few years later, I gravitated to the heavier stuff like Led Zeppelin. I liked the Doors but didn't love them. But as I have grown older, I find myself appreciating them more and more. They have so many hits for such a short career. Jim Morrison, like Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen was one of those dudes known for his song writing. But to me Jim was easily the best singer of the three.
Hits? You're missing a HECK of a LOT if you haven't gone deeper. You're missing out SEVERELY! I ain't jokin', buddy! Go deeper into that rabbit hole. There's no way to explain it. No way. You'll see what I mean. I promise. You don't just listen to Doors music; you EXPERIENCE it. I ain't joking one little bit.
@@johnstorton I sort of not getting your comment? I said "They have so many hits for such a short career." So not sure why your coming after me? I am literally saying just the opposite of what your coming after me for????? On top of it, this is NOT my "go to" type of music. Which means I am only going to buy a "Best of" cd. I am NOT going to buy their entire catalogue in hopes of finding a hidden gem like a big fan of theirs would do. Such as yourself. I don't expect you to go off and buy every Led Zeppelin cd because you like a handful of songs by them either. Yet I was nothing but complimentary about the Doors. I mean what more do you want from me? LOL.
@@boki1693 I'm not "coming after you" at all! My comment was meant as friendly advice. I was under the impression that you were exploring the world of rock, and digging it, then you discovered The Doors and really liked them. I was trying to steer you to even better stuff for your enjoyment. You wouldn't have to buy anything. There's good stuff all over TH-cam.
Thanks for not waving your arms around too much this time. Could it be you actually read my last comment? The Doors were a great band with a unique sound and Jim was a veritable force of nature, a rock legend whose hedonism and early death contributed to his mystique. They did not use a bassist, at least in live performances, relying on Ray Manzarek's low synth figures. This gave them a sparer dynamic, setting off John Densmore's dramatic fills against the singer's mesmerising dark monologues. Yes, mesmerising is exactly the right word, though this hard blues. rave-up is not typical, Some nice Chuck Berry-inspired riffing from guitarist Robbie Krieger here and Jim as always delivers like the great front man he was.
DayOne, I know this will be an odd comment, but you are very pretty. This is not a come on, because I'm too old for that. I just want to let black (maybe you aren't black) women know how pretty they are with that hair style.
jim morrison simply did not give a shit, and he got worse as time went on. a lot of what he did was based on a theory of healing the mass psychosis of a crowd through the catharsis of music and theater.
Robbie Kreiger (guitar) is one of the great if undersung guitarists of the era. Technically proficient yet across the entire Doors catalouge every not he played was perfectly timed and inflected.b
I just love the Doors, they never had a bad song
You’re correct their worst song are still good and their great ones are amazing. Timeless band
my Favorite doors tune
It's about going down slow, having a beer, rockin' and rollin' in LA.

My Uncle Pete’s favorite band. July 7, 1941-Sept 18, 1986. RIP. 🙏🏼

Great reaction to a really good song.
Jim's the captain of chaos but damn that man could sing

Jim Morrison was a crazy dude, part of the 27 club
These guys were magic!

" The Future is Uncertain and The End is Always Near " very realistic !!! Jim Morrison and The Doors were ahead of time as band . 10n plus !!!

Happy you enjoyed the song so much Angela
Definitely a jam
yea loved this song went to bed thinking I am going to wake up and have a beer. My whole day was ruined.
Would have loved to be there….that seemed like a fun show.
The late, great Ray Manzarek played the keys, sweetheart.
First time seeing that Doors footage on this song, Thanks 🙏🏽 👍🏽Subbed
Jim was soooo stoned
❤
Thanks 🙏
doors goord play on my radio show in texas
Great choice one of the best ever ljs 🎉😂❤
My favorite Doors song is just a spoken word interstitial. "Horse Latitudes." I think it's about 83 seconds long.
I'm so spoiled I like the studio version better but I do like Santana at Woodstock thanks Angela
Great. 😎
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥FIRE!
Put the studio version into your phone. The studio version has missing epic call/response between vocal and harmonica and some inspired scatting.

A psychedelic blues crooner indeed
Ray Manzarak on the keys...

Thanks I enjoyed this video
maybe try
The studio version is so much better imo.
Hi Angela
Good audio on this one but it's unfortunately the shortened radio play version. You miss some of the best parts and what makes the song epic.

Jim Morrison... what a waste. We could have had decades more of great music that only he could bring to life.
