Thanks for making a video, however you never line these holes up. Either copy the position of the old ones or go by the chart in the bearing box. If you line the holes up the oil won't have enough pressure to be forced to the bottom where the cam shaft presses hardest

I install mine with the engine upside down as shown. Cam Bearing #1 holes should be at 4 and 8 o'clock all others you will line up single hole at 8 o'clock. I draw a line on all bearings at 12 o'clock and line that up with the holes in the main saddles. #5 Main does not have a hole to line up with but inside the block just under the saddle is a casting line that can be used as a reference for the 12 o'clock position. You also want to make sure the cam bearings are installed first so that after the install you can blow out any debris from the install.

You can take the shorter piece off and attach the bearing holder to that longer piece, thereby shortening the tool instead of trying to use it hanging way out front there.

I think it is attached that way so it fits in the box. the instructions are pretty vague .
I hope it helps you with the next set.

The oil hole should be clocked at 3oclock as viewed from the front right side up

the only thing i would like to know is why do you have the main bearings installed ? [ 4 of them that is] as there are small chips of metal that get scraped off as they are being installed . but hey its like the 3 o clock oil hole thing ! if it works for you keep on keeping on !

No!!!! It makes no sense to line those holes up. The journal won’t build pressure. This is not how to do it.

Never line up the cam bearing oil hole with the Main oil port hole. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Those holes need to be offset as the factory recommends, 10 and 2 o'clock (with the block upright) to eliminate off-side bearing wear and low oil pressure.

100% right,, I just removed my bearings from a virgin block and(with the block upside down) bearings holes 2,3,4 are sitting at 10 o'clock, brg 1 was at 6( bottom) ad the other hole was at 7. Brg #5 was at 6 o'clock. DO NOT LINE UP THE HOLES WITH THE MAINS! Or you are going to damage your cam!

@@ditch45Just removed bearings from my 98 Vortec & with block upside down #1 was @ 8 & 4 oclock all the rest were @ 10 oclock. I think main thing is don't line them up with oil holes in block.
