    I personally think that Deaf people have a voice through their hands that deserves to be heard and be seen. You’re people first before anything else; you just use your hands to talk, and that truly is a beautiful thing.

    Hi Chrissy, I'm an interpreter, and I just wanted to thank you for what you shared on Tik Tok, I read a news article about you being happy that in 3 social settings you encountered ASL. Even for me as a hearing interpreter I CAN'T stand hearing college girls, and all this crap getting on news articles etc. because they used sign language in some store and "helped" some Deaf person. It's not our language! It's yours! We culturally strong Interpreters fully espouse what you do. I wish you all the best in your future and college journey. 💪👊😎

    • @BelieveMontana
      @BelieveMontana 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      hi, could you please clarify what you meant by the "helping" thing? do you mean that people got praised for helping a deaf person in a store and that that should just be normal (there shouldn't be an article at all)? genuinely wondering. I'm going to start learning ASL and the cultural difference/sensitivity is still a bit baffling to me. wondering what was bad about that situation

    Chrissy, what a wonderful video!! you speak so well! your years of practice was well worth it! and i think your voice is as beautiful as you are! i hear a similarity in how you speak and another friend i know in real life who doesn't hear too. i would describe it as you nasalizing your sounds a bit more than hearing-speakers. but i understood about 97% of everything you said. and yeah, the Siri and Google and AI recognition mis-hears us as much as it does for you, so i think 97% of that was just poor AI that still has room to improve. like your 'bye' was just a long bye, longer than the typical 'bye'. so it assumed you may have said it twice. but you did not make that 'b' sound twice, so any intelligent person would know you only said 'bye' once. you inspire me, Chrissy! you're amazing! I admire you so much! i hope i learn ASL sometime soon. I hope i get that opportunity.

    i was laughing so much during this video! apple really needs to make a visual version of siri for deaf people somehow. i have a quick question about signing in the deaf community, and as a hearing person, because i'm in my fourth year of ASL in my high school rn, and i'm taking my state biliteracy seal for asl on saturday. so i was wondering, is using the ASL "glossing" syntax used a lot in the deaf community? or is it something that hearing signers do?? because my ASL classes taught us that ASL is always signed in gloss, even by deaf people, but the only people i've seen sign that way are my teachers, or when songs are interpreted. thanks!!
