YOU HAVE THE RIGHT MOUTH SHAPES SO YOU ARE HALFWAY THERE. THERE ARE SOME SOUNDS THAT COME FROM THE BACK OF YOUR TONGUE AND YOUR THROAT THAT YOU HAVE NOT LEARNED YET. OVERALL, NOT BAD. YOUR SPEAKING SKILLS ARE PROBABLY BETTER THAN MY ASL SKILLS.
Seems to me like Samantha struggles the most with the hard K/C sound. Like the C in call and the C in Nicole. It's understandable since that sound is made at the back of the throat and can't really be seen... if that makes any sense.
8:30 don't say your voice isn't understandable!! it is understandable to me, maybe not a solid 100%, but definitely enough to comprehend. siri can't even understand hearing people that well, so please do not put down yourself and your hard work.
Honestly I think the only reason it didn’t get the ‘how are you’ is because of your accent, not your voice! 😂 I understood that perfectly. I’m assuming you’re from Northern Ireland by the sound of your accent?
@@katieandsami1840 I am from Virginia in the south 🇺🇸 and I can understand both of you clearly and even though I am not hearing impaired that much she still has difficulty with my accent. Best of luck. Y’all seem amazing. Great video 🤓🤗
You guys should make an app that recognizes deaf voices that would be so good and guarantee it’s not already out and made yet. You guys can be the first one
You girls are so much fun. I just found you on TH-cam today. I subscribed! My whole family is deaf, or HH. Four generations, at least. My mom, her mom. Grama's 2 sisters, my son, cousins. My mom had 8 kids. Four born deaf, and 4 became deaf or HH. I will watch more videos now. Have a great week. Oh, I am American, so we use ASL, which is a little different. I don't care. It's all interesting and fun.
Hey Katie, although I never met a deaf person and my explanation might not be as accurate as in my native language, I think I can help to improve the sound of your F. Let me try. The reason why it sounds like a P is because it makes a popping sound. You need to push air through your lips and teeth and then divide those two components relatively gentle. The longer you're pushing the air, the clearer the F gets. And when you say ''How old are you'' the ''How'' sounds like ''Hay''. The last sound of ''How'' should sound like the middle sound in ''old'', so like a U. Hope you can find some helping words in here. Much love to the both of you Keep it up
I learned SEE Sign - Sign Exactly English - years ago and it seems to not be popular in the USA like ASL is. I wonder why because you are speaking in sentences and it's helpful in learning how to write proper English. It uses article words like 'the', etc. Does anyone know why it's not as popular as ASL or BSL?
BSL (or ASL) is a language of its own just like the spoken English language. But SSE is a mixture of spoken and sign language but it’s not an official language like BSL. SSE is borrowed from BSL and English to help Deaf children to improve their written and spoken English skills. The best way to educate Deaf children is Bilingual education where the Deaf child communicates using BSL (or ASL) and uses written English to improve their writing skills.
Hi Samantha and Katie! I just want to say, that you are both strong and wonderful people. Also, I’m sorry that Siri couldn’t understand when you spoke Samantha. I can tell you really tried your best. Just don’t forget to be confident and project your voice. Have a wonderful day guys!
I thought I was just trying to use these apps and I got angry. I'm oralized deaf from Brazil. I already wanted to break my cell phone once I asked to call to open an app and he called the police.
I was laughing so hard at the lightning editing every time Katie tried to say 'deaf" hahaha. I think Katie did a good job too, Siri just isn't as good as she should be!
Alexa does me same way. I ask her for a song or something. She go something i never heard before and nothing like what i asked her for. I told her she needs hearing aids
the girl on the left do say things correctly but for long words just say half of them. like uses just one vowel. sounds shoud be looonger. not short and fast. girl on the right pronounced like a charm! but she say the "o" in "how" as an "i" in "inside". the video was awsome i loved it good jobbb :D
Really with just a strong annunciation of that W,C,T,R it goes a long way I had a hard time with speech growing up. Now I got a large vocabulary but still need to understand contextual environmental and dialectical uses of words.
There are certain pronunciations that each of you excel in or do better than the other. I’m interested in the difference of experience with cochlear implant vs hearing aid and how that might change picking up certain sounds like the C sound at the back of the tongue
Oh wow the girl on the right did super well. And I definitely agree with the comments saying it didn’t understand “how are you” cuz of the accent 😂 the girl on the left wasn’t too bad either. Siri might not have understood but us humans do ! And that’s what counts. Overall it was a pretty funny and interesting video ❤️
Omg thank you so much! I did a song in sign language once it was awesome to be able to learn such an amazing way of communication! You guys are making people happy. Keep up the amazing work and don’t give up!!
omg the frustration lol INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY AND BEING DEAF ARE NOT THE SAME-I will say that my sister with Down syndrome has a hard time getting Google Voice to understand her. I always tell her how we have to shout and enunciate at it cause my phone is just stupid lol She's def more chill when she sees that us, her typical sisters have a hard time getting the 'smart' features to understand us also. She thinks that's hilarious! Which-it is lolol
Seems like Samantha (sorry if I spelt it wrong) struggled with the k s but I heard her kinda hood your voice was really good just sounded like you had a little trouble with English
I love watching all kinds of these videos.. I need to learn more ASL I live in US, Pennsylvania.. But it's smart to learn about everyone and every critter and That's what I strive to do. We love yer videos!! Yer both amazing! Keep on keeping on! How different is sign L in different countries just wondering if you could tell me?
Deffo shows the limitations of voice recognition! esp when Sami said can you hear my deaf voice, I could understand what she was saying. TH and F sounds are the worst, even people who aren't deaf use both with different words, English is such a silly language in so many aspects lol
Eh, Siri can hear, but the question is, how well can Siri “understand” your Deaf voices? You are not alone, even hearing people have problems with Siri due to accents etc. It’s a fun video ☺️💖 thank you for taking the time to create this.
Love that I can hear some uk accent in the girl on the right
Some? That's as norn irish as they come haha the "how are you" was painfully norn😂 Irish
Yes, I love it! She’s amazing.
She's easier to understand than some norn irish people I know.
Yeah! BSL Whoop! Whoop! 🇬🇧😍

I am fine
All you want to call mom's phone number okay I will put in her account so I will not going to keep it until when I move
I could tell you where I'm real in the future
I’m not deaf and when I said deaf voice Siri still thought it was death voice 🤦♀️
I love the panic when it actually calls the mom ahaha
This was so interesting to watch!
I'm pretty surprised siri kept using death, the f at the end was so prominent when she did it again
When she starts yelling "DEAF!" at the phone... I'm crying. I love it so much.
The “baby father” thing was so funny

Yeah or can record lip movements if it can't guess
This was so interesting to watch! I am conversational in American Sign Language and I was shocked how much I could understand of your signing!!!
This is wholesome and funny at the same time 😂❤️
This was wonderful to watch. You absolutely deserve more subscribers. I hope Sami builds up her confidence more! She seems like a lovely girl

The deaf woman repeating herself to Siri because death and deaf are similar, even though she pronounced it correctly the first time is hysterical

I think the “hay” instead of “how” has more to do with her accent than anything else 😂
Great video girls you have me in stitches.

You guys are hilarious 😆 loved this vid 👍
this just makes me sad for the 1 on the left :(
I'm hearing an accent! I didn't know that was possible.
Love your Smiler hoodie!
this is cute and fun. how come you use different alphabets to fingerspell? two handed (like BSL) and one handed (like ISL)?
I was wondering why I didn’t understand you guys signing but then I realized it was not ASL. Oops, I’m a new watcher I think so is that BSL?
This is fun! Loved to watch! 🤟🏽
Hey! Just thought you should know but at 12:43 the censor goes away just a bit too soon and the personal information is readable.
Omg is that a Beauty of the Bass jacket????
Honestly I love ❤️❤️ this video
Can you sign language a little louder, it's kind of hard to understand 😉 you two are adorable ♡
Love the video and new subscriber :D

Fantastic video.
You two are so great.
I've been raised within many family members& my life of course since deaf wth my 3 hearing cousins.. whew cept btw we use very slang deaf tho? 🤟🤟❤️
Please don't feel bad. She cannot understand people with accents or me with my new partial dentures either.
honestly, both of you speak very well-- the only thing is Sami with her "c" or "k" pronunciation, other than that siri is just incompetent 🙄
1:38 If you want to see it start talking to Siri

Do deaf and HoH individuals hate the term 'deaf accent' ?
just a quick joke... how do you get two deaf people to stop arguing?
turn off the lights
I am not deaf but I said to Siri deaf and he said I don’t understand DISRESPECTFUL SIRI 🥺
