To be fair, that's an aspect lifted from the SatAM cartoon, and not really an Archie original idea. But, yeah, the Archie book does have its fair share of long lost relatives, and ignorance of integral Sonic game lore, especially the longer it went on. Thankfully though, that began to change when Ian Flynn joined the fray.
One of the writers actually said the Metallix were based off the Daleks from Doctor Who. He also said that the show had been off the air long enough (at the time) that he didn't expect anyone to get it.
Lmao that’s like their equivalent to the saying that “nobody in comics ever stays dead, except the Waynes, Bucky Barnes, and Jason Todd” and how it aged. He's the fictional editor and his name was derived from the Mega Drive which is what we called the Sega Genesis in our country. He's called Mega Droid and while his appearance did change throughout the run on several occasions, it's more often than not been based on a Sega console. He also had unique terms for humans. "Humes" were the people that made the magazine/comic and he'd often look down on them, calling them the "Humes who think they're in charge." While readers were called "Boomers" and he'd always speak fondly of them. I read that the term Boomers may have derived from a Sonic Boom. (Not the game or TV show but the actual phenomenon. XD) Though it is strange to look back on this and think....were they predicting the future in some way? That's all I wanted to say. I have no witty punchline to end this really long comment. Um...although, as a kid, I never really caught on to how violent some of the art was. Is this a cultural thing or am I just not very observant? Maybe it's both...

Yeah, if nobody else has covered it, "Boomers" is the term used for the STC readers (short for "sonic boomers"), whereas "humes" was the term used for the writers (short for "humans," obviously). It is based on the idea that the editor was actually a character called megadroid, which is some sort of alien/Megadrive hybrid with extensive knowledge of all things sega. It is kinda goofy, but also kinda fun. ( stc.fandom.com/wiki/Megadroid ) I mostly know about this cannon from the (un) official continuation in sonic the comic online, where they continue using megadroid, albeit initially looking to be based on a GameCube instead of a Megadrive.

This is how I view the Chaotix team to this day due to this comic. It frustrates me that they axed Mighty from the team and pretend that he never existed
Different strokes for different folks. This is a much cooler introduction despite me liking the Archie premise better And it might just be the excitement of something new, but I've always really liked Richard Elson's art I do have my nitpicks, like how arm joints can be weird sometimes, or seemingly always. Like Vector here. That said, Kitching's writing meshes rather well. I'm just saying in terms of premise Eggmanland wasn't the egghead's first amusement park in my opinion. Chaotix's Newtrogic High Zone is basically what Archie did, but taken literally
stc cross polinated their writers and artists with the uk anthology series 2000ad (you could say stc was a kids equivilent to 2000ad) so you may be on to something about the artists wanting to draw anything but the sonic characters. Hell Mark Millar....yes kick ass, wanted and the secret service Mark millar wrote some sonic and two full series based on streets of rage for the comic!
Can i make a suggestion, read and review the fleetway robotnik becomes all powerful and then gets shrunk story and possibly the arc that began after that (with the new zones) I thought that story was brilliant (dare i say it, peak fleetway)

The "Emperor " on this comic kind of reminds me of Neo Metal sonic from Sonic Heroes
Gosh diddly dang!! Vector was such a bean pole
Nack/Fang has had such a difficult time. XD
His creator made him to be a Jerboa
Japan made him a wolf
and North America made him a weasel.
This is how I view the Chaotix team to this day due to this comic. It frustrates me that they axed Mighty from the team and pretend that he never existed
i love stc sonic comics
Espio's been watching the Simpsons with his hands on tactic against Knuckles it seems.
Different strokes for different folks. This is a much cooler introduction despite me liking the Archie premise better
And it might just be the excitement of something new, but I've always really liked Richard Elson's art
I do have my nitpicks, like how arm joints can be weird sometimes, or seemingly always. Like Vector here.
That said, Kitching's writing meshes rather well. I'm just saying in terms of premise
Eggmanland wasn't the egghead's first amusement park in my opinion.
Chaotix's Newtrogic High Zone is basically what Archie did, but taken literally
We're REALLY doing all of them
This is fine
stc cross polinated their writers and artists with the uk anthology series 2000ad (you could say stc was a kids equivilent to 2000ad) so you may be on to something about the artists wanting to draw anything but the sonic characters. Hell Mark Millar....yes kick ass, wanted and the secret service Mark millar wrote some sonic and two full series based on streets of rage for the comic!
They spelled Charmy's name as CHARMEE, and whenever I read it I imagine them screaming CHARMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Can i make a suggestion, read and review the fleetway robotnik becomes all powerful and then gets shrunk story and possibly the arc that began after that (with the new zones)
I thought that story was brilliant (dare i say it, peak fleetway)
YASSSS FLEETWAY. Yes you are definitely going to see a lot more Chaotix.
I always thought mighty was from sonic mania
