Sounds perfect for someone who regularly soils themselves! 🙂 In truth, it's one of a handful from the brand I haven't smelled for that very reason. 😂 But I'm glad you appreciate it Dan! I feel like it should come with a t-shirt that says, "Yeah, that's my perfume." 🤣
@@justaddlight that’s actually a T-shirt that I would need for real, some stuff, especially at the office… thanks for the comment! Btw the frag is actually awesome.
Omg. I have never laughed out loud so much during one of your reviews 😂. You should honestly put together a short compiling all the fantastic statements you made (e.g. “I can’t think of any occasion where it would be appropriate to wear this”). Then imagine you are some regular Joe who’s never experienced fragrance content. They would think you/we were all out of our minds! Pulling out Antaeus at as an alternative put it over the top. Jacques Polge is spinning in his grave. If he’s dead. Can’t remember. ALL that being said, I’m super intrigued to smell this, Bat, T-Rex and Sacred Scarab at some point. Never gotten into the brand, but ya know, for research purposes!
Yeah this one is something else :D Antaeus is a masterpiece and was not mean to be offensive at all, it's just a similar, MUCH more wearable build. T-Rex is like burnt olive trees and bbq sauce, Sacred Scarab is really unique and not that stinky. Still never tried Bat :D
"It's not poopy, it's pissy...The rose comes across as gasoline vapors...given the scent profile, I would assume that wearing in public people may think you've peed yourself." My friend, I hope to never smell this fragrance in my life 😂. I thoroughly enjoyed the review nonetheless
I used to have the T-rex as my signature scent and, yes, it was fun. In the high heat the smoky opening fades off much quickly, making it more wearable; while in autumn, winter, if you are going to stay indoor, you just blow the spot with an hairdryer for a few seconds after spaying it, to make the toughest and most volatile parts go off right away.
@@ChristianCantelli T-Rex is a masterpiece of perfumery, the best part of it is the massive evolution during the wear, starts off rough and harsh and ends up incredibly smooth.
It's really, really hard to find in Switzerland where I live but I think Zoologist ships from Canada to the UK with no issues, might even be favorable with the exchange. The samples are killer :)
thank you for the review! did you try anything Homoelegans? brand from Holland, very affordable comparing to Zoo, so they have thing called Quality Of Flesh. the closest to Hyrax that i’ve ever smelled, fantastic yet cringey. love it.
Thanks for this review, and thanks for mentioning the Antaeus resonance. I remember that Antaeus was quite an outlier scent even in the 80s, not at all typical of men's "colognes" of that time. And what a beauty it is until this day... I guess I will have to dig my old bottle out of storage now and wear it tomorrow. See what you've done? 🙃
Thanks for great reviews. Also, try Ormonde Jayne Montabaco Intensivo, its uniqueness is matched only by Ganymede. Very ethereal and molecular (in a good way) fragrance, I'm interested what would you think of it
I admire your resiliance to try this around people by how you described it! Have you tried Complex from Boadicea the Victorious? I haven't tried Hyrax but I got similar reactions from Complex, I found it unbreable to be honest, which was disappointing as I thought it sounded really interesting. (It was 😀 )
Just when I think I’ve gotten my ‘must try’ list under control, here comes another one. Especially as I’ve been on an animalic kick lately… Just picked up Arquiste El, which is compared to Kouros. I’ve still yet to try anything from Zoologist, as I know it would be like opening Pandora’s Box, but I’m getting more and more tempted.
Off topic but I received my bottle of Amouage Outlands today. I really like the bottle in person, but I wish the cap was ceramic for the price. The scent profile is very interesting to me. I get a lot of patchouli with a sort of sweet citrus accompanied by aromatics and spices. I don't get a lot, if any oud, and the drydown for me is ambery with remnants of spices. On my skin there is a creamy aspect that might be the sandalwood. I watched your review for it and I'd like to know if Outlands has grown on you at all. For me it's about a 7.5/10 right now. I have samples coming for Reasons and Lustre :)
@@EndersFPS yeah the bottles look a LOT better in person! Outlands has grown on me but it’s still not one of my favorite Amouages. I have a full ranking of my bottles coming soon 😉
I actually don't have any problem wearing T-Rex to the office and making it my signature scent. It's definitely a bold choice, but it can also serve as a great conversation starter. That said, I agree with your conclusion about Hyrax. While it’s a beautiful scent, I can’t imagine a situation where I’d want to wear it-perhaps only if I wanted to perplex someone I meet.
I haven't worn T-Rex to the office yet, not it's opening, not that I find it offensive or anything, it's just super loud and burnt and don't feel like overwhelming people :D
After college, I moved to the Castro district in San Francisco. The notes of hot steeped piss, leather and rose buds became my ever-present disgruntled neighbors.
Another option I'd give is Night by Akro. It's by far one of the stinkiest cumin notes I've come across. There is a slight rosy powder nuance to it though, which is nice. Definitely wouldn't wear it public either lmao
@@bombel2297 I’m weirdly attracted to this scent for whatever reason. It’s a really hard wear so I don’t wear this in public, it’s mostly my guilty pleasure evening type thing. If I wake up with any trace of this in the morning it’s beautiful and smells good by then
