They don’t cost much when you get them(15-25 bucks), but all the stuff you need for the cage and eventual vet costs are really expensive in the long run. We spent far more money on our guinea pigs than on our dog who has severe allergies and needs special food. Also, you should keep at least two guinea pigs because they are social animals and don’t have the capacity to see a human as an adequate replacement like a dog would. Unlike with birds who usually work best in couples, for guinea pigs it’s better to get two females, as males even when neutered will be very demanding of the females’ attention which will get very tiring for the females if there aren’t enough of them to split the male’s attention. They also get way older than most people expect for such a small critter, five years was the average, but we also had one grow over seven years old(we didn’t have her exact age, but she was an adult when we got her and had her for seven years) and a guinea pig TH-camr I know had a female named Tiramisu who grew over ten years old. Guinea pigs are really adorable, but they’re not to be underestimated when it comes to the work you need to put into them.

I had a holland lop (rabbit breed) and she was my best friend, her name was Lolly. She died last September from cancer, but I know that she will always be in my heart and I’ll always be in her’s. So Rest In Peace Lillie and Lolly ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you to you and Ace for opening my eyes. I had no idea guinea pigs were so smart. The ones my family had long ago excelled in being cute, and enjoying sitting in Mom's lap while wrapped in a towel for the inevitable accidents, but that was about it. Who knows what they might have learned if they'd been given a chance?

Yes small animals are so smart, much smarter than people give them credit for or expect. My rabbit knows basic commands and is litter trained, and my friends rats are little genuises.

Hope it’s not on it’s own? Guineapigs need to be kept in pairs at least to meet their social requirements. It’s been made illegal in Switzerland to keep just one for example.

Animals are intelligent from the tiniest to the largest and from the domesticated to the wild animal kingdom. Animals have feelings similar in many ways to us humans. This little critter just makes it easy peasy to fall in love with, what a cutie!!
Same with mine. Always spoiling them. Sadly he got allergic to hay so we had to give the last batch of Guinea Pigs away. We did have around 8 years of good times with our different piggies though :D.

Try touching her all the times and reward her with treats when she is calm.. but if she tries To bite say a loud "NO" and put her immediately in her cage. That way she will associate the bitting with no more attention. My guinea pigs never bite anyone in their 7 years long life (this method works for pee and poop too).
All my Guinea pigs do is 1. running away whenever I come near the cage but funnily enough stay calm af when the cat sits on top of the cage watching them 2.eating 3. Chasing each other while throwing dirt out of the cage onto the floor They're so talented

Then you do something wrong. They usually don't bite really fast.
Is it a baby
Try touching her all the times and reward her with treats when she is calm.. but if she tries To bite say a loud "NO" and put her immediately in her cage. That way she will associate the bitting with no more attention. My guinea pigs never bite anyone in their 7 years long life (this method works for pee and poop too).

All my Guinea pigs do is
1. running away whenever I come near the cage but funnily enough stay calm af when the cat sits on top of the cage watching them
2.eating
3. Chasing each other while throwing dirt out of the cage onto the floor
They're so talented
...so accurate! 1. Hide and seek, until you bring food and than once they have it, it's hide and seek all over again, lol!!
The cat thing might be a fight, flight or freeze response to seeing a predator
My pig be like:
*weeks ONLY in the middle of the night, falls off his platform for food, and his floor becomes a toilet the same day I changed his bedding*
They freeze when your cat is on top of their cage, because they are scared, they know your cat is a predator.

I love this video! I've taught my 4 month olds twist and paw on my arm. it's so cute when they randomly start turning around in circles or tapping my hand to tell me they want food 😂 I might teach them to go through a hoop next!
