      Says '4 months ago' at the top of the screen, but that's clearly not right as the vid talks about the X-Pro4 as a future camera, though by now it's already in the past! I'd still love one, though, and there really nice used ones available. But they cost way more than the camera did new, which feels like a kind of madness I don't want to fuel.

    X-pro 4 should have the same stacked 26MP sensor as the x-h2s. I agree, 40 MP is overkill and I would much rather have the advantages of a stacked sensor.

    Take the XH2S (or the x-s20) specs and throw it in the Pro4. IBIS, Stacked sensor, processor, and battery. It makes sense to throw in the stacked sensor to keep it at a higher price point since the mid range prices of their cameras are creeping up ie XT50. I agree that we don't need a 40mp sensor.
    Not sure if they'll want to make the Pro4 a hybrid camera though. Adding the ibis will add weight so not sure what they can do to keep weight down or have better ergos which means changing the design.

    • @gunairy
      @gunairy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would love that. I agree they won’t/shouldn’t make it a hybrid camera, or target content creators, but if it’s going to have the same sensor as their other cameras and all the video features that come with it, they could make it a bit easier to use in video mode.

    Bring back the ergonomics and OVF functionality of the X Pro2, sensor processor AF from X H2s, IBIS, screen articulation from X T3. I'm not interested in video so personally I'd be happy if they deleted it and saved me some money. The bigger battery would be nice but I cant see how they could do it without ruining the form factor, and honestly carrying a couple of spares is not going to weigh you down.

      My only gripe with battery life is that I’ve had the pro 3 die on me while trying to get a shot more than a few times. Sure you could just change it before the battery is all the way empty, but when you go through 3 in a day of shooting, you try to max them out and I’ve missed shots doing that haha

    • @stevesvids
      @stevesvids 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Isn't that the same as just cropping your image. ? Its impossible for a sensor to be multi resolution. You just get a smaller portion delivered as the file. Cropped.

    • @gunairy
      @gunairy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that would be cool, but as far as I'm aware, the Q cameras just let you crop in to work around the fixed lens. It would be cool to select the resolution, but I feel like I'd be paying a lot for something I don't really need since I'd leave it in 24 all the time haha.

    Can’t agree on low resolution. Even a cheap M1 Mac Mini handles my Sony 61 MP without delay. High MP gives you the freedom to crop and reframe. If I only brought a 40 mm lens, but the shot needs 80-100mm reach - no problem! Messed up the horizon line on a quick street shot? No worries!

    • @gunairy
      @gunairy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I see your point. This is such an interesting debate because it'll always be subjective. Some people need high res, for others it's overkill. As someone who takes many tens of thousands of photos every year, I can only think of a handful of times where I feel like I've accomplished something with 40mp that I couldn't have done with 26. BUT that's just my use case and experience. For me, it's overkill. Plus, for the sake of argument, the Sony cameras that use a sensor greater than 33 MP are pro-level full-frame cameras. I believe they're all pushing $3,000 USD, or much higher, right? This is a hobbyist/enthusiast-level APS-C camera we're talking about, with the Pro 3 retailing at around $1,600. Is it safe to assume the average Pro 3/4 buyer has the latest tech to get the most value from that new sensor? An uncompressed raw file is 80-100 MB with my 40 MP X-T5. At the very least, there should be a regular option and a high-resolution upgrade like Sony offers with the R line.

    What I would like to have as X-PRO4 is the X-PRO2 (x-trans III is perfectly fine) with flip screen + bigger battery. IBIS is not needed. And what I really like in the X-PRO is the form factor, but I do not use the OVF at any time. So strangely, it can be left out. I would have a better EVF instead.
    And all cameras needs a seamlessly working cloud support so save and sync the files in cloud/phone automatically any time, there is wifi/mobilenet.

      Yeah, totally get it on a fixed lens camera. That’s a good point. I know the Leica Q’s are kinda built around it. What you described would be such a perfect camera. I don’t know what it is but the Trans IV and earlier sensors just had something special that the T5 sensor just doesn’t. It looks so clinical and the colors never do what I want them to. I think I’m totally indifferent on the OVF too haha

    I don't have an Xpro but do have an XE2, XT1, XT2 and XT4. I would like to add an XPro to my kit but I have some of your same concerns. I also wonder about the wisdom about Fuji bumping up their new sensors to 40 MP. And we need to replace our existing lenses to take advantage of the increased resolution? People forget about the benefits of smaller sensors with bigger pixels like low light capability and more "film like rendering". Some of the makers recognize differing needs and make higher and lower resolution for the same sensor size cameras, but unlikely the Fuji will ever do that because already they can't seem to get their cameras out of production. Like you, I am looking for a smaller, not larger, kit. And I agree that it is highly likely that an XPro will have IBIS and that will most likely produce a bigger body. I think if I could find a decent deal on a used XPro 3 I would go for it, but as you know they are expensive and hard to find.

    I own the X-Pro 3. In my mind, there are no "need" changes for a follow-up, meaning it hits the sweet spot for my photography-centric use case, including form factor, handling, robustness, image size & quality, yes - even the back screen (ribbon issue, okay...) ... So, what remains are "wants". Especially on my list is a design solution which allows for better mounting on a tripod - shift the mounting point forward, do something to the pivot points of the back screen, anything. (I have a solution that works, but it's not nearly good enough.)
    Having said that, even so, an X-Pro 4 would be higher on my to-buy list than any other Fuji camera at the moment. Let's hope for the best.

    Repeating what I say in under every video discussing what the x-pro4 should have.
    1) keep a 26 megapixel sensor that has more dynamic range
    2) It would be nice to have a builded in diffusion filter, using a similar mechanism to the built in NDs in the X100 series
    3) If they can make manual focus lenses that are relatively the size as the F/2 series of primes in theory they could make them faster and that would add to the range finder experience.

    I purposely held off buying an X Pro 3 to replace my Canon 5d equipment that’s getting a bit big and heavy for me to carry when travelling , when it became obvious that there was an issue with the screen, that I believe led to a class action lawsuit in the USA. I’ve not seen or heard anything to suggest that that has been resolved , which may be why Fuji are keeping very quiet about even confirming that there will ever be a version 4. If they alter the screen set up or components it’s like admitting that the other was at fault , which weakens their case, but they’re certainly not going to keep it the same. The optical viewfinder is a huge plus for me, having used an X100v for a while , and as that’s not offered by anyone else, I’ve held out hoping for an X Pro 4 , but is it now overdue given the usual time scale of upgrades ? I think they’ve hinted it’s definitely not going to appear in 2024, but won’t even increase confidence by confirming that the X Pro line is to continue . Fingers crossed

    We print Bill boards from 12MP sensors... because of view distance. the further you are away from the image the less DPI you need.
    26MP is fine.
    High MP make sense in the following situation
    Where cropping is often needed (Wildlife) but it makes sense for the X100VI with a fixed 23mm lens and it is useful when you can not easily change lenses or don't want to (e.g. outside)
    IBIS is pretty much required (or shutter speeds way faster than normal) with the 40MP sensor, due to slight movements being move visible on the high MP sensor (Fuji pretty much said this)
    Fuji, did say the X-Pro line was special and would only be upgraded when they felt there was a need. If Fuji release an X-Pro5 i think it would be safe to assume it will be the 40MP Sensor with IBIS, I like the screen but they should probable re-work it. I'd like to see a higher resolution Viewfinder bump up the res to 5.7MP from 3.6MP but since the X100VI was launched with the same Hybrid Viewfinder I doubt we will see an upgrade to the X-pro4 if it is released on 5th gen... TBH I'd quite like to see the X-Pro4 skip the 5th generation and be the launch camera for the 6th Gen sensors and processors
    I love my X100VI but also shoot on an X-T3 (and 5), in the real world, I print gallery quality photos, and if I take a photo on the X-T3 with the 26MP Xtrans 4 sensor and take a photo on the X-T5 with the 40MP Xtrans 5HR sensor... You probably could not tell the difference until the print was printed way bigger than 20" x 16" and viewed from an un-natural viewing distance.
    Having said this, I'd never refuse more MP when it comes to printing

      Thanks for the comment, really nice to hear your perspective. More megapixels certainly help in some situations like printing and cropping. There are pros and cons to everything.
      I think IBIS is definitely inevitable, especially now that they've shown they can squeeze it into the x100VI. That camera is actually tempting to me because I use the 27mm pancake probably 90% of the time. I could probably live with a fixed lens, to be honest!

      I honestly do think there will be another pro camera, though I can't say 100%. I think folks expected them to release it this year, but it's been pushed back to 2025. My guess is it will be just as adventurous as the Pro 3 was. The Pro 1 kind of started the X line, so I think there is probably some incentive to keep it alive as long as possible. Fuji doesn't seem to discontinue entire lines often, and I think the Pro bodies have always had a place as their higher-end rangefinder. Kind of a big brother to the X-E cameras.

    I'm a little bit disappointed in where things are headed. My x100v is awesome and I was looking towards better Af and new film simulations of the VI - But I ultiimately returned the VI. Its noticably heavier. The ibis wobbling when its off makes it feel broken, like somethings loose inside. 40mp is overkill AND the lens doesn't produce enough detail for 40mp. As great as the af algorithms might be, the lens itself doesn't focus fast enough. Still a lot of hunting.
    If not for the new film sims I really do like, I'd just buy a xpro3 and be done with it.

      @@reneeschke I can't think of any negatives to having IBIS except perhaps the size of the camera? I wouldn't mind seeing the size increase if we also get a larger battery out of it. Video features are not important to me or most other Pro-line fans, but I think they have to appeal to hybrid shooters as much as possible. There probably is an appetite for a rangefinder that could be a true hybrid, and IBIS helps with that + the occasional photo situation.

      @@gunairy price, size, weight and the "flimsy feel" of "something lose" insight the camera. more complexity and one more thing to break. It feels I have to Baby the cam. Didn't bother me as much on my a7iii, but was much more noticable on the a7iv.

      @@reneeschke Yeah, I notice it on the T5 when it's turned off. I insure all my gear though, so if anything goes wrong I don't have to worry about repair/replacements. I always assumed they thought of that stuff when they chose to let it rattle around since that's what all the major camera brands seem to have done as well.

    My ideal X Pro4 would be the X Pro form factor with X T5 performance. Including the screen. The X T5 screen is great for shooting low to the ground and the Ibis allows for crazy low speeds hand held. Great for street photography.

      I would love a Pro 4 with a T5 screen, IBIS, and the H2s sensor/AF! Can we just get all the best parts of all of their cameras? haha

    I don't see why Fuji couldn't ask their fans which sensor they would prefer in an X-Pro 4 - 26 or 40?

      Polling the fans would be interesting!

    Only the fact that there is no X-Pro 3 available would make me buy an X-Pro 4.

    I would buy both pro 2 or 3 if there was an ability to buy new, not overpriced used. I'd be great if they actually produced more copies and stuck with the camera for some time like leica instead of upgrading constantly.

      Yeah, they really need to get a handle on their production capacity and get ahead of the demand. I think they're trying to do too many things and have too little faith in their own success.

    Eh. Give it 40 megapixels, ditch the stabilization, GIVE ME ALL THE FILM SIMS, give it a proper rf option, and make the ISO dial click up and stay like on the X100V. I'd also vote to remove all the video functionality, but that ain't happening, so no worries.
    Or, make a damn digital TX-3.

    • @gunairy
      @gunairy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's one thing I didn't mention. That ISO dial is super annoying to adjust. I also think they could lock down the exp comp dial. I find it's easy to bump up to +1/3 or +2/3 on accident with the Pro 3 and even easier on the T5. Removing the video functionality is definitely unlikely, but I wouldn't put it past Fuji to do it. I mean why bother with video if the camera is so aimed at photography. I can't see anyone using the Pro 3 in any kind of serious video application. I tried for a video and it was not fun haha.

    Did anybody asked fuji to update their GFX line? or do people even care about GFX?

      Good question, I only know of one professional I follow personally who uses GFX.
