real explanation of monosomy or all names
chromosomes are designated in haploid and since we have diploid they r considered pair ..
so instead of 46 it is 23+ 23 (22 + XX /XY)
so for every cell there is pair for every chromosome
lets understand all somy with example of X chromosome
so a normal have
(22 + 0) + (22+0)= 44 .. no x chromosome to nullysomy
(22+X) + (22+0 )= 45 = Monosomy
(22+x) + (22 +x) = 46 so normal
(22+XX) + (22+X) = 47 trisomy as it have 3 X chromosme
(22+ XX) + (22+XX) = 48 tetrasomy as it have 4 X chromosomes ..
hence they r named like wise
