In my opinion the cutest combo (actually why I use it) is L. Blue Yoshi, Biddy Buggy, Azure Rollers, an Cloud Glider. The cloud glider is to make it feel like the biddy buggy is actially flying with its little wing boosters. And the biddy bugs are really cute. Its tight but pretty easy with practice. You just have to wait for the blue shell to be descending. There's a visual cue, which is when the blue shell stops showing you its belly
My main is Light-Blue Shy Guy, Teddy Buggy, Monster Tires, and MKTV Parafoil. This combo is extremely cute, and pretty decent for racing. You could also switch Shy Guy with Light-Blue Yoshi, it's just as cute.

@Shortcat I'm in England and its referred to in the game as grip - I assume that the rest of Europe has that same terminology. Its odd because traction is a word that is used in conversation in Europe and everyone has access to Google even if they didn't know what it meant. Not sure why it's been dumbed down for us. Weird. I'm still binging your videos and have quickly realised how much worse I am at Mario kart than I originally thought haha
16:50 I also like those types of shortcuts. The first one I remember like that was actually the original Crash Team Racing on PS1. The track is called Tiger Temple and you use an offensive item to open a statue's mouth and a shortcut appears. The best thing about it was that it wasn't obvious at first, but you do see the exit of the shortcut as you passed it, sparking your curiosity. It wasn't until I played around on the track in time trial when I found it as a kid.
